I highly recommend Eine Kleine Nachtmsik for anyone who is looking for an introduction to classical music. It's music that one can relate to because it has so many different qualities. When I met my wife, she had no knowledge or appreciation for classical music. Mozart's night music really inspired her and she began to seek out other classical music.
@bchristian8510 ай бұрын
I agree, but it should be a version played by a quintet like this version. The full-orchestra arrangements of this piece we usually hear turned me off of it for the longest time.

Hard to believe this "large" sound is coming from 5 musicians. The genius of Mozart. Even when this is distilled down to an ensemble it still sounds so big. Of course it helps to have stellar players at this level performing it. Loved it!!

The "large" sound is due to the genius of the architect who designed the room in the Baroque castle where the musicians are performing. Do you suppose serenades by other composers in Mozart's time had to be played by philharmonic orchestras because they lacked the "genius" to make a small ensemble sound "large"? Serenades in Mozart's time were meant to be performed by small ensembles in grand residences with resonant acoustics, not in recording studios or concert halls.
@BirdYoumans2 жыл бұрын
@@herrickinman9303 I'm quite sure others sounded good. Vivaldi for example (who died in 1741) who preceded Mozart by a few years got incredible things from small ensembles of no more than 12 to 15 pieces but usually smaller, typical of his era. He was considered baroque, but if you listen closely, he foreshadowed the coming classical music. Mozart, who died in 1791 was on the forefront of classicism and wrote for bigger orchestras along with many many pieces for smaller ensembles. I was just simply pointing out how good this piece was along with the players even when distilled down to this size ensemble vs the size it was written for. No more, no less. Of course others sounded good. But there was a reason Mozart was Mozart. Lots of things occur to me by the way lol! However, I am just a simple man, stating the obvious in simple ways.

Mozart in my opinion, was the greatest chamber music composer. This a fantastic performance, as he envisioned it. Beautifully played. I had no idea it was written in this form until today. Perfecty in accord wit his quartets, quintets and other similar works which I adore. Nevertheless, the orchestral version is also thrilling and Mozart might have written it that way had he the resources. Going to the concert hall and hearing a live orchestra giving its best is still an absolute joy. I'm so glad this piece is popular because people new to classical music might get interested more, as they do with Vivaldi's Four Seasons. This is happy music, and we all want that.
