Thanks for the video. The leading edge wheel well fastener is locked in when the slot is horizontal. Rotate it vertically to pull it out. You can tell by the shape of the holes in the clip the pin fits through (round with slots at 12 and 6). Because of this, if you do pry the center pin out when the slot is horizontal, it will probably break or be so distorted and chewed up , it won't stay in place on re-insertion. But they can be tricky to lock back in as they want to twist instead of cleanly rotating. Maybe a slight film of grease on the outer legs and the back hole in the clip would help them turn more easily . I would recommend changing the side marker light while you're in there, to avoid having to do the same job again. It's a separate socket with a small bayonet style bulb (T10, W5W, 194, 198), also amber colored. I also prefer to add dielectric (light bulb) grease to bulb contacts and wearing gloves to keep oils off the bulb glass.

Really good video. Way to get shots in those hard to reach places while you are doing things. It is the bulb on the end of the housing, but I would point out that the this is the bulb with three wires on the back if you just in there feeling around in the dark(likely). The others have two. Also, as mentioned in the comments, the first clip that you pop is set up to pop out one way, with the slot aligned horizontal. Turn it to vertical once pushed in to lock.

I am glad I watched your video before going to an Auto Store because there is no way I can do this. I slide into a car on ice going 15 mph, which would have only put a dent in the bumper of a metal car! ($3400 repair bill). I usually listen to the radio, yesterday I did not and heard the left signal problem. Now, I plan to phone my Insurance company back and report this because I believe the repair shop either caused or missed this. The headlamps worked when I checked the car out following the accident yet they changed one anyway. I bought the car now, and only have 64,000 miles (maybe) on this car. Your video saved me time and perhaps money in the long term. I subcribed to you just in case there is anything else I need to know. You are very easy to understand and follow.

thanks Dennis ,good video ,i was just wondering if it would be the same for the Toyota Aurion park light bulbs
@dwcoffey5 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thanks for watching! I'm not familiar with the Aurion as it is/was mostly sold in Australia and Asia. I'm in the US. But....it appears that it is a 'luxury' version of the Camry, so I'd think most bulbs etc are similar. I also understand that Toyota changed some of the Camry front and rear treatments to make the Aurion, so I can't tell if that affected bulbs etc. I'm sorry I can't be more help, but if I had to guess, I'd say the process and bulbs will be the same or at least very similar.

Great video! I did this the other day on my Camry. Really think Toyota could've design things a bit better! Not an easy side of the road fix if you get a bulb blow on a road trip. Luckily the bulbs seem to last a while.

Thanks for watching, CJ! And I really appreciate the kind comment! If you were just changing the turn signal or the side marker bulbs, I don't think removing the bumper cover would give you any better access. Taking it off basically just gives you access to the screws holding the headlight assembly in. Since you'll have the headlight assemblies out anyway, that will definitely give you the best access! :)

@@dwcoffey have you ever run across the bulb not fitting into the socket? When I pulled the old one out of the socket after rotating it slightly counterclockwise I notice the bulb was broke. I can only guess that part of the socket was melted due to heat from the bulb. Looks like I’ll need to get into the housing of the bulb.
@dwcoffey2 жыл бұрын
I have had that happen, where the socket melts a bit and then won't accept the bulb.
@marksim34883 жыл бұрын
One tip to add. Housing is 2 pieces and has some play. So when you pull out the housing and it doesn’t naturally hang (wiring has tension), you are making the housing a little shorter and the bulb won’t pop right in. If the wiring is tight because you only undid one screw to access the bulb, you’ll have this issue. You have to make sure to push the round part of the housing down (squeeze) and pop the bulb in. This took me a lot of time to figure out since my bulb wouldn’t go all the way down and click in place.

The original bulb I removed from my 2011 is replaced with #7440 (it doesn’t have the black plastic at the base of the bulb)...but when I installed it, only the blinker works, not the steady parking light that should come in with the headlights? Thanks for the help!
@dwcoffey6 жыл бұрын
I looked up the reference for a 2011, and yes, it looks like 7440 is the correct bulb for your car. Does the other side parking light come on...or, did you keep the original bulb that was replaced? You might be able to compare the 2 bulbs and figure out the difference. In a 2009, the 3457 bulbs are 2-filament bulbs, one for parking lights and one for turn signal But I think the 7440 is a single filament bulb...so....if the other side is working as it should, maybe the replacement bulb is defective?
@Cravz696 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the reply! The other light does come on, but it would make sense for me to verify what bulb is there. I noticed the same regarding the single filament, but the bulb I removed was factory, matching the 7440, so I’m not sure. Love my Camry, but damn they don’t make this easy! Thanks again, I’ll report back when I have another chance to look at the other side!

Thanks, Lloyd. My local auto parts store gave me the 7440A bulb for my 2011 Camry as well. I was afraid I was going to have to get the one Dennis recommended. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, does this apply for 2013 hybrid as well?
@dwcoffey3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I am not sure. I don't have any experience with a 2013 model.

How do you change the front parking brake light?
@dwcoffey5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! There are no front brake lights, so I'm not sure which bulb you are asking about?

If your talking about the side marker bulb then its the same way except its just a lil above the turn signal bulb

Hello Dennis! Thank you for the great video. I have a 07 Camry. The technician could not make it work (the new signal bulb did not work when he turned on my car). He asked me to bring my car to the alarm center. Do you know why? or any thought?
@dwcoffey6 жыл бұрын
hmmmmm.....I don't specifically know, but sounds like he thinks there's a problem with how the light is tied into the alarm system. I am not familiar with the alarms on these cars at all, but most are tied into the lighting circuits (through a computer module, I presume) so that when the alarm is tripped, the lights flash off and on. there is probably supposed to be a permissive through the alarm control module that allows the turn signals to function properly when no alarm condition exists, and it sounds like he thinks that where the fault is. I've never run into that....but based on what he told you, sounds like that might be the case.

Would this be similar to a 2012 camry? I've been searching youtube for it, but to no avail.

I can take out the parking bulb, but the signal bulb was too close to the corner. Also I don’t have enough space to counter-clock wise. My Camry was 2007.

Updated. Actually my right rear signal was blinking so fast & front right signal was dead. So I changed my rear signal bulb and it also fixed the front right signal.

I have noticed that these fender screws tend to be flimsy and pop out sometimes for some of my customers. Don't know if it's because they changed the bulb or not but I think it is.

I expect you are right. They probably strip the threads when they put it back together. Thanks for watching!
