I’ve been using zero turn mowers for 25 years. From cheap John Deers to EFI 61” Great Danes. I would have to say that your review is one of the most accurate, complete and honest reviews I’ve seen. Some points to ad: - Don’t ever be worried about how to drive one. They are intuitive. I could mow 5 acres full of trees at full speed when I was 12 yrs old. Very intuitive, very fast. - Don’t stress about mowing down hills or across slopes if you are on a good machine. The only things that will make it tricky is cheap tyres that lose traction and cheap hydrostatic drives that don’t deliver the power or braking that you need. My John Deere zero turn was the WORST. Drive tyres that would slip, slide and spin made it really tricky sone times. But it’s budget domestic hydro drives had me stuck on a slope, against a fence, and it’s hydros simply couldn’t drive or turn, so I was stuck. Enter the Great Dane professional model and it would drive anywhere, pop wheelstands for 50 yards down the driveway if I wanted, and made lawnmowing far faster and easier. So mowers ‘aint mowers. I found your video as I’m buying a Hustler. For their price point in my area, you get a lot of mower for your money compared to other brands who sell mowers with pressed steel cutter decks (always buy fabricated decks), cheap plastic components, cheap hydrostatics (you blow a hydro motor and you will be up for $thousands), etc. After owning possibly 15 or more ride on mowers incl 6-7 zero turns, I can definitely recommend Hustler. Their fabricated steel deck also allows for a powered bagger setup which would normally tear a pressed steel deck to pieces in a few months. Great review and alongside Kubota, one of the best zero turn mowers in every price range. 👍

As you brought up the subject, the hydrostatic drive on the Raptor X is the only thing that is preventing me from buying one. The ZT2200's are what every entry-level zero turn uses. If it had ZT3100's or better I'd buy one today.

I have a 2006 hustler mini fastrack with a 16hp Honda engine. It has over 1300 hrs on it and has been flawless. Starting to have a few issues but I think new belts will fix . Been looking at Fastrack in a 48 “ ,!I mow roughly 3.5 acres . Would go larger but I mow my immediate yard with some obstacles that a 54” may not be as easy to use . I currently use a 42” . Love them Hustler mowers . I’ve looked at others but seem to go back to Hustler.

The Raptor is a great ZTR! I have 10 hrs in the "fighting chair" and you do need careful steering control on side hills. I do find it more stable and with better traction then my old Craftsman 20 V-Twin. It takes 10 hours to cut a 9 hole pasteur golf course with 2' of cheat grass and foxtail (and a few cactus!)

I think one of the biggest things with a o turn is staying away from butane tanks , your house or anything else you don't want to destroy. I have a fast track 54 inch. It's 925 lbs. I just bought it yesterday. I worked for a friend years ago driving his scag turf tiger 🐅. I learned a lot from doing that. So I'm some what used to driving a O turn. I have had a 35 year old craftsman gt6000 lond tractor. 20 hp onan engine 44 inch cut. I had forgotten how nice a O turn mower is. My mower has duel fuel tanks. A little over 4 gallons a side. My old mower took almost 3.5 gallons to mow my yard. But now I've noticed this new mower doesn't work use nearly as much. Is got the Kawasaki ft691v 22hp engine on it. It's got the cyclonic air filter system on it. Each of my fuel tanks has its own fuel gauge. You can choose which tank the engine runs on. I paid 3500.00 for my craftsman 35 years ago. This new mower cost 7916.00. It's a 22 year model it was showing 1 tenth of a hour on the hour meater.

Im 14, starting a business, got 2 clients right now and a old lawn tractor my dad bought 9 years ago, sold it to our neighbor 5 years ago, then he gave it to me for free, changed battery, and it started. Changed oil, airfilter, and spark plug. runs much better. Soon i'll maybe have my dad change the ''strap'' or belt whatever that makes the knives run. Cuz it is so noisy and scrambly(deck is moving side to side and scrambling, WHATEVER. Also have a led light, horn, voltmeter, blitz light. but dont got that installed yet. the lawn tractor works and all but i'm going to buy a new one soon. idk if i should get used or new. i would of course like new, everyone would. and yeah i'll save money buying an used and all but i dont want something that got problems. also got a stihl km 131 + trimmer + edger + brush + blower(getting the cultivator soon). What new mower should i buy? im thinking imma buy one in like 4-5 months maybe less.
@dwcoffey6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and congratulations on starting your lawn business! It's hard to say what would be best for you, it depends on where in the world you live and whats available to you. Also depends largely on your budget. Basically, my advice would be to look for the newest, best maintained, used mower. Look for the better brands, not the real cheap ones. If you can find a decent used mower that has only been used for cutting grass, has been maintained and not abused, your maintenance on it should be minimal. If your budget allows, a new one will come with a warranty and possibly some routine maintenance included, depending on who you buy it from.

Just picked up my raptor x 42-inch mower last night, used it for the first time tonight, about 20 mins of use, and a rear tire fell off. Not impressed. A 1 and half-inch bolt that I can buy at the hardware for a dollar holds the rear tire on and a couple of 20-cent washers. Really???? The most stress on any machine with tires is where the tire fastings onto the axle( Doesn't matter if it's a car, truck, tractor, or wheelbarrow). Especially this is true on a zero-turn mower. Hustler should know this. I will be making a few phone calls tomorrow.
