@christianzilla9 күн бұрын
One of the first things that the government did in the USSR after the Chernobyl plant exploded, was to remove all information and books from public libraries that pertained to radiation. Then they withdrew dosimeters and geiger counters from sale and restricted their use. Then they put about that vodka was one of the best defences and cures for radiation. I think the vodka dosing is still a belief amongst the populace?

All nuclear power plants around the world, will be reminded of Chernobyl, if and when a missile hits a nuclear power plant. @christianzilla9 күн бұрын
You are wrong. The radioactive isotopes travelled around the globe. Belarus took a huge dose, 45% of the land still cannot be farmed. That's more than 50 miles away. All of Europe was soaked in it. Sheep in Wales were exterminated as they were unfit for consumption due to radioactivity. Is that more than 50 miles away? It's thousands.

Stop beating the Budapest Memorandum like the dead horse it is. First of all, Ukraine never ratified it. Secondly, it was signed with the notion that Ukraine will maintain its neutrality, which is fixed in its Declaration of Independence, upon which the Ukrainian Constitution is based. Decision to join NATO therefore does not only make the Budapest Memorandum null and void, but is unconstitutional at its core. NATO and Ukraine did everything in their power to provoke this conflict. Don't forget that. Also, Ukraine couldn't maintain its nuclear arsenal even if it wanted to. They've never had the necessasy infrastructure.

Reinstate the Minsk agreement and make Ukraine a neutral state like it was already agreed years ago. No more military bases on Russia's border, this is ludicrous. You dont see any other country under NATO actually on each other's territory quite like NATO would be if Ukraine was to join it. Ukraine's and Russia's geographic position and its potential NATO membership would place NATO forces directly on Russian territory, which is a factor that increases the stakes in the security dynamics. If Ukraine were to join NATO, it would create a direct land border between NATO and Russia. This is significant in the realm of military strategy, so I don't know how Russian concerns can be disregarded just like that. They have full right to be concerned and their concerns justified. The memory of invasions and conflicts throughout history that involved NATO, and then also treaty after treaty being broken by NATO/US towards Russia. Further, I don't see West actually taking a liking to Russia anytime soon and all their accusations and aggression towards Russia has been ongoing based on mostly nothing, so no wonder Russia would feel threatened by NATO when NATO/US operates the same as they go hand in hand as the US plays a leading role within the alliance. It provides key leadership positions within NATO, including the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, who is typically a US general. It emphasizes the US main role in shaping NATO's military strategies and responses and their initiatives and priorities basically guide NATO's strategic direction, so what's there to not be understood? Are we all so blinded by the hatred towards Russia fueled by western media or do we have a mind of our own. You see why the dilemma would be for Russia, plus, Russia is not a part of NATO so for NATO to be not even close to them but right on Russian territory, within what rights? Any military buildup or exercises by NATO would just be unacceptable. Again and I'm repeating the most logical thing that's based on facts of the geopolitical position, if Ukraine joins NATO, it would place NATO forces directly on Russia’s border, it wouldn't be even NATO inching closer on Russias territory, such is the geographical position that NATO would be directly on Russians soil, significantly impacting the strategic balance in the region so this leads to valid concerns from Russia regarding its security. Again, NATO wouldn't be just approaching on Russians territory and border, but by Ukraine joining NATO- NATO would have to be positioned directly on Russians territory as such is the border and that's just unlawful. As any other country has the right to their territory so does Russia and that's that. It's their right, when you didn't give Russia that right it had to go about it a different way. No one stops to remember that the situation is distinct from that of other NATO member countries, which do not have the same geographical complexities involved.The unique factor here is that many NATO member states do share borders with Russia (such as the Baltic states and Poland), but they do not have the same situation in which NATO forces would be positioned in a way that is directly on Russian territory. In Ukraine's case, NATO would not just be close but would be adjacent to Russian land. To simplify it even more for those who still believes all the propaganda and only support Ukraine, if Ukraine were to join NATO, it would place NATO forces directly on recognized Russian territory, which changes the nature of the security significantly compared to other NATO member states, so who are you to point fingers. As such, finding a diplomatic solution that's not only based on Ukraine's aspirations but also on Russia's security concerns and taking it into account is essential for regional stability and peace. It's not quantum physic. I want to also emphasize a principle of respect for territorial integrity and national soverignty that Ukraine called for. It says that all countries have the right to govern themselves without external interference. This includes the right to decide on military alliances or partnerships, sure, but it also says that territorial integrity implies that no state should attempt to alter another state's borders or territorial status without consent and that right there is the breach Ukraine would of done if joined NATO. Inviting external military alliance is compromising that principle. Ukraine has been standing for so many years, it's a fact. Never provoked or poked by Russia, whatsoever. There was no involvement from Russia so to see Russia as a threat based on no evidence is simply hatred and Russia's complete lack of involvement, that right there is knowing your boundaries. Russia was respectful even though Ukraine wasnt under NATO even then and even with less defence, so to actually paint Russia as the bad guy and saying it's threatening Ukraine's safety when it was never threatened before until Ukraine threatened Russia's safety and showed disrespect by trying to invite NATO on their actual recognized Russian territory. Such is the geographical position. It's not Russia's fault, it's not Ukraine's either. But at least Russia was keeping to itself all these years unlike Ukraine and while their aspirations should be their own, again, sometimes in life you can't get absolutely everything you want, if you can't compromise, then that's just greed, but at least it had safety and Russia as it's alley when it didn't become quite so greedy or in this case under Zelensky's command. You cannot just let Ukraine have everything it wishes and disregard Russian's recognized territory like that by inviting NATO on that said territory. That's not aknowledging both sides and it's not fair that so much accent is put on Ukraine.
