@@michael1 I get what you mean, I'm not a fan neither of the whole "beat up" guitars thing : however you can't compare with cars, because quite a number of guitar players prefer the feel of worn out guitar, neck and body. Not my cup of tea, but I know some players like it .Whereas I don't know any Porsche/Ferrari/whatever owner who likes his car "worn up" , it's quite the opposite, they want and maintain the pristine state as much as they can.It's really a guitar thing, so it's not the most accurate comparison tbh ;)

It shouldn’t matter to you. Buy a new one that has polyurethane coating. You’ll see you can’t wear it out in your lifetime or the next lifetime. I have only one slightly relic’d guitar it’s not my main guitar. My main one is a regular polyurethane guitar. But I have a 34 yr old fender strat looks brand new. Only nitro coating will fade. I don’t understand why anyone cares what anyone else likes. People can do what they want. As someone once said mind your own business. Bigger problems in the world. Let people enjoy what they want. Overly relic’d isn’t for me but slightly relic’d is fine. However, I thought all of you think it’s just posers. Is Dweezil a poser?? No. Is Justin Derrico a poser? No. Pros use them. Phil X? No there are a lot of pros. They like them. How about Isaiah Sharkey? No. Hmm 🤔

I always knew Dweezil was a fabulous musician, but once I saw the Rick Beato interview it really drove it home. This guy is a student of the instrument. He descends from Guitar Royalty, and it shows. This guitar really has that same vibe as the Friedman Cali model. The heavy relic, the custom pickups, the maple neck and board. I would love to own this in either finish. It would be a keeper for life.

Congratulations Dweezil - great guitar. Love the octave circuit on the pull knob. Definitely something Frank would have done as well.
@TLguitar4 ай бұрын
How is that effect achieved? Because the opposite wasn't mentioned, I assume the circuit is passive and thus probably doesn't do an actual doubling of the frequencies in the signal. Dweezil mentioned it works when engaged in a middle out-of-phase position. Does it perhaps push one of the signals slightly more out of phase and that cancels more of the lower frequencies in the output? Although the effect is quite pronounced so I don't know if that could be it.
@benjaminwoodrowmusic60704 ай бұрын

@bobolson5423 I have one in my prs on the volume pot 👍 it's one of my favourite sounds. I think the strength of the octave effect really depends on what pickups you have out of phase as well for my guitar it's obviously just the two humbuckers which I can coil split as well. I think the effect is more prominent with single coils but I'm not sure....like brian may's out of phase tones

I've been forunate to try a few Shabbat guitars here in Hong Kong. Yes, expensive. But by god, the craftsmanship and character of the ones I tried were amazing. Not necessarily for me but I cannot fault what Shabbat is creating - I am also not a Fender CS or relic fan overall. The few Shabbats I have held and tried really do ooze quality and were I into this type of super strat relic thing, I would go Shabbat over Fender CS any day, resale value be dammed. So great to see Dweezil and that Vega trem is indeed game changing IMO. Good luck on this killer signature axe! Though for this vid, as much as I love and use similar gained up/wet sounds, I would love to have heard Dweezil run through the axe going straight into an amp, with a touch or reverb.
