Norfolk Broads Bitesize Series - Rockland St Mary to Stern on Without Bow Thrusters at Loddon.

This is another bitsize video for those with a good appetite. We leave Rockland St Mary and I try to point out where the bird hide on the Broad is.
When we arrive at Loddon there is plenty of room, so Carl attempts a stern on mooring without bow thrusters. Collette shows signs of insubordination again and they both lead me astray whilst Christine tries to recover from her stomach bug.

Watching you mooring at the Staithe , the girls had no issues getting onto the bank , compared to us with the bathing platform and a very low tide . The director still very quiet , compared to sister .Carl improving , excellent video ; but you must show them whose the captain lol

Hi Peter, I can imagine a bathing platform has its benefits at high tide but as you say not so at low tide. The director struggled to get a word in. 🤣 I tried to be a democratic skipper, but they took advantage. Next time they will be issued with a rule book and expected to sign a behavioural agreement. 🤣😂

another great video. we tried boating on the broads afew times but couldnt get on with it as so many boats struggled to find moorings all full up by mid afternoon.we did stay top side of braden water.we still come down but stay on teraferma and watch the boats our favourite spot is wroxham. seems very quiet but i suppose it is late in the season. keep up the goodwork .get us through the winter months

Hi, that is a problem in the busier months. We usually try to get to the Southern rivers whenever we can for a few days and find mooring up is a lot easier and there are a few good places which you can book moorings like Beccles and Oulton Broad to name a couple. When we get back to the Northern Rivers it can be a pain to have to moor up early just to get a spot. If we are eating out, we will try to get in early but if we are eating on the boat, we will cruise wherever we want and not worry so much about mooring as we can always drop the mudweight in the middle of a Broad. In February we hire a lodge and use Silver Cloud as a dayboat.

The Beuchamp Arms Dave , looks like it has a fair bit of money spent on it . Is it open . We used it many years ago , then it closed , there used to be a great big long stretch of mooring which now seem to be overgrown, great fishing spot, always bagged up there .

Hi Philip, when we passed last year, they were doing extensive refurbishments. Google says it is open, but I don't really know as both times we passed recently it was out of opening hours.

Hi Dave, we had great weather for most of the time. An odd shower during the week but mainly dry until the last day when it rained. I don't generally like the last day, so it didn't bother me at all. 😊

the path along the bank goeas all the way from chedgrave common moorings into town , it goes behind the boat yards (actually its a permissive path through the boatyards, the path in the other direction from chedgrave goes at least a couple of miles along the bank (thats as far as i explored) its about a 1 mile walk into town from there.

Hi Grendel, we followed the signs for Wherryman's Way from the staithe at Loddon but took a short cut through a ginnel opposite the charity shop in Chedgrave. It wasn't until we went past the old mast of Hathor to the next bridge, we realised the path up the Chet was closed at that point.
