DX9 - CARRY (Rodimus Prime)

I've watched the transformation three times already as I can't get enough of how this guy's engineered. Really well done. It's slightly reminiscent of how the Zeta Gundam transforms, but Carry improves on it because the hips provide a solid base for the legs. Even the winged backpack concept is shared between them. Possibly the best Rodimus Prime figure yet, IMHO. Forearms do seem a little short, but they're not ridiculous looking.

Wow, what a great Rodimus. What surprises me the most is that not only does it incorporate the trailer but the transformation seems relatively quick and easy over all. I Myst afmit, this company has really been knocking it out of the park.

Wow, he turned out a lot better than I expected. The vehicle mode looks AWESOME, and he looks great in robot mode too, although the fins are too big and his backpack sticks out past his torso, which really takes away from his silhouette. He's pricey, but I may end up splurging on him now. I still eagerly anticipating SXS's IDW Rodimus reveal!!

Not bad. I might actually buy this one. I'm really impressed with how well they managed to get the entire trailer to work into the full robot mode. I also kinda like the flames on the back of the wings in robot mode. It looks neat. As for the gun...hopefully someone will make a dedicated gun that isn't a targetmaster.

Looks terrific. In a lot of ways he's everything MP-9 isn't (and I like MP-9). Definitely want to get this. Very ambitious design but it looks like they nailed it.

Man! The only Rodimus I saw is the trailer splitting apart from the rest of the body, so now he transforms together cool! In the 86 G1 cartoon he could do it both ways? But wasn't prepared to see him use part of his trailer for his spoiler fascinating.

This is a great representation of Prime! The backpack needs a bit of work and I am hoping they may fix it before the final release, but over all, this is a better version of Prime than Takara's.

Great review as usual. I'm gonna be ordering this guy with Kapow (sorry, but TFSource kill me with shipping and customs to the UK) and your review really helped me make up my mind. People are complaining that the vehicle more is too small, personally I think it looks fine, the MP looked too big in my opinion. Carry's cab looks big enough for two people. I honestly didn't notice the spoiler until you mentioned it. I would have liked some kind of fold-out cargo ramp or opening doors on the back of the van, cos it looks like there's room for maybe a small Roller analogue in there, but this looks a lot more solid than the Masterpiece Rodimus.

Rodimus is one of my favorite characters because of childhood and having a prime. Something with the head/fs just feels off to me. A lot of the angles in the video make it lookk like he's got no eyes.....not sure how to feel. Great review as always Peaugh.

The design appears to be based on his animation model from The Headmasters, hence the forward-facing wheels and massive wings. Thankfully they didn't give him the guyliner though.

Am I the only one who actually prefers my TFs to have backpacks? Kibble and stuff is some of what makes these characters so iconic, and makes them more than just robot action figures. I'll take a backpack over some boring AoE type robot design any day.

for what this is. wow love him. never cared for that useless trailer. really good. you see hints of hotrod in him. chest reminds me of wheely. would love to see an even smaller version think that transformation could scale down (to g1 optimus size) and still work. the gun i don't care for. but wow that nobody thought of this before.

Meanwhile Fanstoys... eesh Cool transformation and I really dig the all-in-one treatment. Little too Ox for my tastes though, and the black pinstripe's a bit of an eyesore. It is a very smart transformation. My only 'gripe' would how 'everyone' wants G1 accuracy in a MP styled figure. This one isn't that. Still very nice.

My biggest complaint is the $165 price. Aside from that, yes, he doesn't really fit the MP aesthetic and his shoulders look wonky - they really needed to lower the shoulders. He needs a little more pizzazz in the paint. I think that is why he doesn't fit the MP aesthetic - he looks more plasticky than metal sleek finish. If that's not it, I don't know what else it could be, perhaps too blocky? Something about DX9 and BadCube, they just don't look the part of MPs to me. Fans Toys gets it right and Official gets it right most of the time. Xtransbots can't do quality so I have to pass on them and KFC.

I noticed something in regards to not having front spoilers in alt mode. There are two tabs just above the windshield on what would've been the trailer for the G1 version. Would the spoilers or wings from the targetmaster fit in that spot to give the look of spoilers?

It's time to retire the sports winnebago! Hot Rod was ok for a sports cars. But as Rodimus the toy and the character just didn't scream autobot leader. Ultra Magnus was more of a leader. Since we have the leader class Ultra Magnus and Prime in the combiner wars, it's time for a Rodumis Prime update. Hasbro loves to reuse molds. Re-mold UM as Rodimus. Make him a proper truck mode and a more badass robot mode. Get rid of the wings, flames, and arm pipes. Everyone has been given an update, where's the love?

SFsBest1 I don't recall where MK scales with current masterpiece. Carry is around a little over half a head to a full head shorter than MP10 (at the head of course) if I remember the comparison pics from tfw2005 correctly

Nice review, too bad his legs don't move forward and back. It's my only complain. I can look past the backpack. More leg movement equals more posability. Still a great figure overall.

Nice toy but it's hard to believe they are charging $165 for this thing, yikes! Once again, about $75 + too much. I think I might have to wait until the prices start dropping, they can obviously afford to drop prices a lot on these MP toys. Are they really going to stop making toys if they can't substantially overcharge? Once demand drops, I believe the price of the MP TFS will surely decline. There are too many companies who can build nice MP, which should cause competition, which should cause price drop. Once all the characters come out, they will probably revisit old characters and hopefully the price will become more reasonable. I hope my prediction is right.

you are absolutely out of your fucking mind if you think this thing looks great. that head sculpt is awful and look WILDLY INACCURATE. that spoiler is horrendous, his crotch looks awful, his chest is a mess, there's too much superfluous detail, those ratchets look and sound terrible, that matrix is pathetic, and those wheels make the entire thing look ridiculously cheap. they look like tonka wheels. ..i guess that's what happens when you get something for free. people used to be able to rely on your reviews.. you used to be unbiased.. now, just about everything is great and totally recommended, it's a damn shame.
