The reason the calculation had error in the first example (while x = 2 & dx = 1) was, dx was not small, so we should not simply neglect it; instead we should add it. So dy = 2xdx + dx^2 = 2×2×1 + 1×1 = 5. The reason we use calculus is simply because the change is small. It works also in large scale 😁 this video simplified my understanding 👍🏼 thumbs up for the great work.

I agree and I was planning to post the same. How can we neglect anything in mathematics? Anyway, It was a great video to explain the formula. We need more videos like this!
@user-nv5pp2ic3x
@user-nv5pp2ic3x 5 жыл бұрын
@@--dk dx can never be zero (dx tends to zero/it gets closer to zero) *it's an infinitesimaly small (very small to measure) value.* If dx was zero then the ratio dy/dx could not be calculated, as division by zero is not defined. This small value doesn't affect the ratio anyway. The example in the video has been chosen in an easily understandable way, such that the change in area of the square is a constant, in other words the change is not instantaneous (it is not changing always) it changed only once by an increase of 1 sq. meter. So we can replace dx by Δx which is an appropriate change. And then dx can be 1 (which is indirectly Δx) and therefore the term dx need not be neglected. We neglect a term only if it is very small and adding or subtracting it does not affect the final result. For instance adding 25 paise to 1 lakh rupees is pointless, so we simply neglect it, as it is very small compared to 1 lakh Rs. Think about it; on his previous video on "How LMES helped Newton" the average speed of the apple and the instantaneous speed were different because the change was *instantaneous* which means the speed was rapidly changing each second. I hope I made it clear. Keep asking doubts 👍🏼 Happy learning! 😊

Also, can u get in touch with ur friends in IT field and check if someone is ready to start a channel for programming and other IT related knowdelge breakdown. love maths. many don't known why we use constant c in indefinite integration suppose y=4x+5, if you differentiate it, it will give us 4. we known integral is the reversal of differentiation and vice-versa. but if u integrate 4 what comes out is 4x + c. where the c denotes a constant which has a value from -infinity to + infinity.in this case it is 5. in a same way see all the problem in a graphical way.try to draw a graph of any equation you see. it may be difficult but if started to like it, it may become your hobby.

Anna, I'm not a mathematician but I just noticed in the case of 2m Square calculation. In normal calculation, we got y=5 In differential calculation, we got dy=4: where we negating "dx^2" in the formula. (dy=2x.dx). By interest, I had tried by without negating the "dx^2". then I got the perfect answer that dy =5. ( dy=2x.dx+dx^2).

Really I won't blame my school bcz our syllabus was formed in such a way that we had less time and more portion and always we rushed up at the end. One suggestion : Pls start any coaching institute that teaches science and engg maths in a most practical way. Age must be no bar to join the cls. For sure like me many will come and get the benefits of learning. I am 21 but still age doesn't matter to learn all concepts in a practical approach. Thank you LMES 🙏🙂

Dear Team, recently l have lot my friend who died in the train accident. He was trying to get down of slightly moving train. He got struck in the wheels and collapsed. He was a mechanical engineering gold medalist and a MS graduate. It shocked me extremely and l want you guys to make a video to state the science behind it and create awareness among the people.

This is really good video and I guess it is inspired from 3 blue 1 brown essence of calculus. Keep up the good work in explaining the concepts in simple language. I would really appreciate if you would add the addendum for actual geometric meaning of differential calculus which is essentially slope of curve at any given point for simple curves of y=sqr(x) and y= cub(x) parabola and cubic parabola. Kindly advise people square and cube change is practical demonstration and not the complete definition of dy/dx.

Anna when we normally differentiate x^2,we get 2x+dx.By using limit x tends to zero,we get 2x.This means that when change in x is0, we get the rate of change in equation as 2x.But in above mentioned case dx is equal to 1.so when derivative formula is used here,that is d(x^2)/dx=2x+dx, =2(2)+1 =5. You told the derivative had an error.But main reason for this is you have not used the concept of limits.Don't mistaken me I am studying class 9,but after seeing your calculus videos I got inspired and bought a book from amazon.Then I started reading it.Hence I got knowledge in this field.Thanks for your videos.Now I have started reading 11portions even.If I have any mistakes in comment,please inform me.

Simple, elegant proofs.I like it.The power rule can be proved using another way.Slope={y2-y1}/{x2-x1}. y2=f(x+∆x),y1=f(x) x2=x+∆x,x1=x slope = f(x+∆x)-f(x)/∆x But infinitesimal change so, lim f(x+∆x)-f(∆x)/∆x x->0 f(x)=x^n Then use binomial theorem and solve the limit and you would get nx^n-1

Explaination innum better ah irunthu iruklaam..... Main matter ke varalaye actually what is meant by dy/dx? Y is dependant on X.......i.e Y is the function of X i.e, Y(x)=2x Y get different value on the basis of value of X When x=1,y get the value 2 When x=2,y get the value 4 Here when value of X jumps from 1 to 2 . (interval ∆x=2-1=1,∆x=1)So that ,value of Y jumps from 2 to 4.(interval ∆y=4-2=2, ∆y=2) i.e, X la ∆x=1 na, that means One unit increase aachunaa, Y la ∆y=2, that means two unit increase aagum nu arttham.. Practical explanation, Let us consider X is a father and Y is the son Experiment no.1,(non stop 2 days Running race) First one hour la,Father 10 feet reach pannumbothu ,Son 20 feet reach pannuvaan(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) Next one hour la,Father 5 feet thaan reach panna mudiyuthu ,So, Son 10 feet thaan reach pandraan(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) is 2 times stronger than his father) Next one hour la,Father 2 feet thaan reach panna mudiyuthu ,So, Son 4 feet thaan reach pandraan(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) is 2 times stronger than his father) Next one hour la,Father 0.5 feet thaan reach panna mudiyuthu ,So, Son 1 feet thaan reach pandraan(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) is 2 times stronger than his father) Next one hour la,Father 0.1 feet thaan reach panna mudiyuthu ,So, Son 0.2 feet thaan reach pandraan(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) is 2 times stronger than his father ) Due to Tired,father one hour la 0.5 feet reach pannavar ippo 0.1 feet thaan run panna mudiyuthu Father Interval ∆x=0.5-0.1= 0.4 but son interval ∆y=1- 0.2=0.8 ∆y/∆x =0.8/0.4=2(Y=2X, i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father) is 2 times stronger than his father ) Father oda chinna movement ku kooda,antha chinna movement ku thagunthaar pola son 2 times ah irukkaan. On the whole, father aala oda mudiyaathaa situation ai nerungum bothu ,i.e ∆x------->0, dy/dx=limit ∆x----->0 ∆y/∆x = 2.......... i.e son is 2 times stronger than his father ) Y=2X dy/dx= 2(x°) =2(1) =2 Thus, son is 2 times stronger than his father..... Rate of change of y with respect to x is 2 .
