On Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. I lost my golden retriever. He crossed over with my husband and my other fur baby Hoochiegirl. He was so sick and I read that they do not want to leave your side until you tell them to leave. It was the hardest thing I had to do. I told him to go get daddy and that I will be ok that his sister is here with me to take over. I cried so much as I saw him finally leave his body to go get daddy. I was sitting with him and petting him to let him know it was ok, I also called out to my husband to come and get him now. I also prayed to Jesus to help. It took about 5 minutes for him to finally cross over. His sister whom I have stayed with him also. I do know I will see them all when it is my time.

Dying and Entering the Spiritual World is like Moving From a Village to a Great City is such a great episode because it does excite the imagination about what the spiritual world is like. I do look forward to it. The image of how we end up where we belong and are happiest on either side of an issue is helpful to me. And your emphasis Curtis toward the end that the more the better is a wonderful message. It puts our world and our earthly population growth, abortion, climate challenges into a better and a positive perspective. This is probably off topic but… yesterday morning, I began thinking about how we are born into this earthly material life as helpless babes. And this world is full of a smorgasbord of everything from the most useless evil and falsities to the most helpful, useful, kind, caring acts of love - and everything in between. Why this system in which we form our characters? So I thought that the Lord in all His Genius must know what He’s doing - right? He must have devised the very best means of sorting us and letting us have some freedom in choosing our path. Living in this soup of mixed emotions, motives, thoughts, words, and actions must be the best possible way to prepare us for our eternal lives. So living like this where many of us have not chosen to seek a spiritual path to walk; and certainly only a tiny few have ever heard of Swedenborg - this is OK with the Lord. This is still the most effective system He could devise to let us become ourselves. So living in this mixed good/bad soup is how we were meant to begin our journey - what we were created for, adapted for, compatible with, good at living with, and working out our destinies in. I find this absolutely amazing - looking at it from this angle. I have always wondered why we live in suspension between good and evil, and then are admonished to refuse evil and to choose good - over and over throughout our lives - repeating the process ad infinitum and ad nauseum (my feeling). But IF I accept that the Lord has devised the very best way to sort us out, and that we are created to do this sorting this way, THEN I have to believe it is for the best for everyone; and it explains for me why the Lord loves us all, from the heavenly to the hellish, equally. And I am comforted when I think that this is how the Lord wants us to live the lives He has blessed us with. Blessings to you all for this work and its gifts ❤️

Wow, Mary Valentine, what a beautiful thought to follow and learn from, you are so inspiring! This trust in the Lord is the very essence of faith and so very challenging! But you describe the comfort that comes with that trust so beautifully and it's reminding me to work on my own trust level. The whole free will thing does sometimes just feel like torture, but I promise it's not - maybe the best way to think of it is as an opportunity, to face evil and defeat it, and choose good over and over! I also believe that the more of us that choose good, and the more frequently, the easier the struggle becomes for those around us and those in the future, so it's a worthy fight! Our recent episode of Swedenborg & Life, "The Gates to Heaven and Hell," kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3yol6OFnNpsn68 talks about the nature of free will and our role in it better than I could, so check it out and let me know what you think! @@offTheLeftEye Thank you for sending that link! I watched it after you sent it and very much enjoyed it! Actually I do have a few questions. What happens to the persons spirit if they intentionally took their own life? And can spirits actually see us on earth and if so, do they wander around where they actually left their spirit when they were here on earth? (E.g. People's homes or outside places)
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferElliott1 Great questions! No one's end destination in the afterlife is determined by a single act, including suicide. If a person has reached that kind of despair, they are still going to have to work through their inner issues in the afterlife, but they will get much as much loving help from the angels as they are willing to accept. I believe there are ways and places in which God can provide healing and learning to help their minds get to a better place. It seems that normally people in the afterlife are not actually seeing our physical situations here on earth. Maybe sometimes, if there is a use for it, but mostly they are engaging in the whole new world around them there in the afterlife. However, they can be very aware of the thoughts and feelings of loved ones on earth. So I always encourage bereaved people to continue to talk with their loved ones in the afterlife in their minds, and continue to send them love, because I believe those loved ones will receive the messages.

@@offTheLeftEye Thank you for your reply I really appreciate it! I am actually in the process of writing a letter to the person I lost which I find very comforting and therapeutic. Is it safe to speak out loud to the ones we lost? As I do worry about communicating with demonic spirits or a spirit that may pretend to be the person that once was. Also I feel that the time they committed suicide was around about the same time they appeared in my dream. Was this the same soul I had a relationship with on earth? It has been a few weeks that I found out about his passing and I've had a few spiritual experiences for e.g. I saw a butterfly at my local station where his spirit was. A particular song has been playing on the radio which I shared with him (when he was alive) and my dog has been acting up. Ever since my dog was a pup he has been sleeping in my parents room and recently he can not sleep in there these days. I feel his spirit is in the room. Could this be true? This has been happening since last month and this was when he died in a tragic car crash.
@offTheLeftEye4 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferElliott1 I believe it is absolutely safe to talk to a loved one in your mind. I (Karin) have done that a lot in regards to my daughter (who died at age 8). Swedenborg learned that thoughts and love draw people's spirits together. I understand your concern about being deceived by dark spirits. Have you seen our episode "Is It Safe to Talk to Spirits?"? See if there are any helpful thoughts in that regard: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3XCo4CEpL-shNk Signs of the presence of person's spirit (like the ones you describe) are very common and normal, especially when it has still been a short time since the person has crossed over. A butterfly, and a song on the radio, are beautiful ways that a message of love can come from a loved one. And it seems that animals are often very sensitive to the presence of spirits! I believe you can consider these things messages of love from this person you are missing, and a reassurance that he is alive and well. Wishing you continued healing and peace, Jenny!

You caused me to have a mind explosion! Since the purpose of life is to learn to love and gain knowledge, then each person, being unique, fulfills this purpose in a unique way, thus complimenting every other soul. Even if the universe is infinite, the expression of love and knowledge will continue to grow and expand just like the birth of every baby in this world adds to the potential of love and knowledge. It seems like the fulfillment of our purpose is tied to the fulfillment of others, so that means that we need to develop communities, here and in the other worlds, in order for each soul to reach its potential. This can be seen in the historical growth of communities on earth from family unity, to clan unity, to tribal unity, to city-state unity, to unity of each nation and ultimately to the unity of humanity in a world civilization. This demonstrates the growth of the ties of love to ever larger groups. I guess the next step would be the growth of love and unity between planets. I think that the growth of chaos that we now see in many countries probably is caused by the failure of the old system of national communities to deal with the need to include the whole world where there are no longer any people who are outsiders. I loved your example of explaining to your sister about the return of the flowers each year. You can find this same analogy in the Baha'i writings concerning the return of Christ. The return of last years roses on the rose bush will not be the return of the atoms and molecules of last years roses, but the return of the attributes of the roses. They will be the same color, shape and aroma but expressed with different atoms. Jesus actually alluded to this in explaining the return of Elijah who was expected to return in the "day of the Lord". He was asked if He were Elijah and He replied that John the Baptist was actually the return of Elijah, if they could understand it. John didn't fly down out of the sky physically, but was born as a baby to Elizabeth and manifested the qualities of Elijah. Baha'is understand this to be the unifying principle between all the great historical religions, that the Christlike qualities reappear from age to age in a different human being manifesting these qualities like a mirror reflecting the rays of the sun. Mirrors may come in different shapes, colors and sizes, but they all reflect the same light. This analogy probably can be taken to the level of human beings. We're all different sizes, shapes and colors but the qualities of a human being can potentially be manifested in all of us. Recognizing this reality will cause the end of racism. The same is true with religion. I don't know if "religionism" is a word or not, but this would be analogous to racism, the notion that one religion is superior to all others, rather than seeing all religions as stages in the spiritual evolution of mankind, that all peoples have been provided by our Creator with a Divine Mirror reflecting the rays of Divine Love and Knowledge as needed for spiritual progress and goodness. Swedenborg seems to affirm that people of whatever religious label ascend to the next world according to their spiritual attributes and bathe in the rays of the Divine Sun regardless of their label on earth. So maybe each religion is like a branch from the same rose bush.

@harlanlang65564 жыл бұрын
@@offTheLeftEye The planets themselves are all connected, along with their stars, by a form of love called gravity, if you think of love as a force of attraction. I think that love between the creatures, or people, of different planets is just a more mature expression of the love we have here on earth between humans. Our experience of loving other humans who may look very different from us should prepare us for the future of meeting spiritual beings from other planets who may be physically very different from us. Sci Fi movies are also great at getting us used to the idea. It will be interesting to eventually learn how religion has developed on other planets. My guess is that they will have their own history of physically evolving to the point of rational thinking and pondering the same questions we have pondered of what exactly are we, and what is our purpose as individuals and as a society. They probably will have their own succession of Spiritual Luminaries who will be recognized as having a special connection with the Divine, with teachings and guidance to help them understand those fundamental questions of life and how to live together with a common purpose. They will understand, just as we have in every culture and religion on earth, that our reality is not our physical form, but a reality which is connected to our physical form like an image is connected to a mirror. The reflected image survives the breaking of the mirror. The Sci Fi movies which deal with meeting people from other planets reflect our own immature understanding of our own nature. We still see contention and conflict as "human nature" which will never change, but I think that this is just our adolescent stage of social/spiritual growth. Healthy human families put the family's interests above those of individuals. We'll eventually come to understand the human race as one family and that the best interests of humanity should come first. That will express the mature nature of man. The same should be true on any planet. It's not a big leap to see people of other planets as family too, so we, and they, would seek the best interests of people....everywhere. So that might explain why a super culture from some other part of our galaxy hasn't contacted us. This contact probably would not allow us to grow and develop through our own stages of progress. If you forcibly open a rose bud, you'll destroy the rose. But there probably will come a time when we're mature enough to handle it. I think the sign of this maturity will be the eventual creation of a world culture in which the earth will be like one country and mankind will live as one family. This has been the central Baha'i goal from the beginning. All good will spring from this unity and love. The unity of planets will probably bring unimaginable wonder and good. The James Webb telescope should be launched within two years which will allow us to analyze the atmospheres of exo-planets and identify planets with life. This will be another big step in preparing for contact with other planets with people. It's going to be quite a ride!

I am not 100% sure exactly what my house and surrounding area would look like as I need to wait until I join my husband to see what he wants first. But I am sure that wherever we live, we will be happy.😊 One thing to keep in mind is when Swedenborg lived. There were far less people on the earth at that time so there were also far less big cities. Yes, London, Paris, etc. were large even then in comparison to outlying towns and villages but still very small compared to modern day. Despite that, I am sure it is still going to feel, even to us modern day people, the same as it felt to Swedenborg. I often wonder what Swedenborg thinks now. For instance, it is a 2 hr drive to NYC or Boston, but in my dream I can walk there in just a few minutes. My mom passed a few years ago and I got to visit her a few times in a version of the house in which she lived. It was the same, but different, more colorful. Maybe it's just me, but the spirit world seems a bit crowded sometimes.

@Debbie Mercer If a dream gives you distress like this, then I believe the dream is reflecting your own worries rather than how things really are or will be. I believe that you will never be lost in the afterlife - that angels and the presence of God in your heart will lead you right to your home and your dear mom!

@Debbie Mercer I can understand your fear, but I believe that experience was just reflecting your state of mind at that particular time, and there were angels with you but you just couldn't see them. With all you have been through in your life, that is very understandable! I know that fear is a very hard thing to overcome, but try to resist that fear. The Truth is that you are completely loved, and you will be lovingly cared for by the highest by God and the highest angels when it is your time to fully cross over.

Maybe I’m missing the idea, but I like it. I don’t know what the cities in Heaven are like, but I would think the reverse might be better. To me big cities are loud and polluted, with limited space and high crime rates. A village would be more remote and quiet with the sounds of nature all around you. But perhaps I’m getting the idea wrong. I don’t know. But to be FREE of evil, is the main concern. 👍🏻🌼😃❤️

Hi, on678999! Thank you for being here, my friend, and for asking this question! Emanuel Swedenborg's spiritual experiences reveal that the spiritual world is ever-expanding in population. Every person who has lived on earth has found -- and will find -- a permanent home in the afterlife! It is hard to conceive of infinity, isn't it?! "... The doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is that we have always existed as light and intelligence and God our Heavenly Father organized us and gave us spirit bodies. Then we literally became his children and lived in the pre existence with him until it was our time to come to this earth to gain physical bodies like he has, so that we can progress through our Savior Jesus Christ to become all that he wants us to be, if we choose too. That is why there are so many of his children. This is something that you can pray and ask for the truth of.

Good thing the spiritual world isn't bound by the physics of the natural world, isn't it, Jerry? How much room do your thoughts and feelings take up? Your ideas and hopes and dreams? Spiritual reality doesn't require physical space to fit into. So I think we're good in terms of room for everyone. You and all of us will be welcomed "home" with plenty of room for everyone. In one interesting passage, Swedenborg says that everyone goes to a specific place between two other angels in heaven, creating somewhat of a bridge, and therefore increasing the perfection of that heavenly community. Fascinating to ponder, but we have to try to think APART from space and time, which is kind of the only way we earthlings CAN think!

Hope Swedenborg is right. But I hope no one gets to Hell for long. Only incurable evil people.But even them, if they can learn not to hurt and manipulate people, see their mistakes and regret them, maby without a flesh wrong wired brain, they develop empathy and insight... Maby they doesn't need to suffer eternally, because they then doesn't need to be scared straight. They feel and..... I just think eternity in hell seems so incredible terrible for a human. Even bad people has some feelings. What if good people, get to hell, because they didn't believe or was addicts, but otherwise very good, empathic, caring, kind people!!?? That would be tragic and terrible. Especially if they had to be there long. If any of my loved ones got there and I was lucky and got to heaven... I wouldn't get peace. And good people that takes their lives because they hurt too much or feel like burdens to their loved ones... Then I would want them to finally get peace, in the arms of, Jesus or an angel, but they will be stabbed and burned and scared restless, in Hell... It sounds evil, to me. I can't understand everyone in Heaven wouldn't find a way to save those souls , if their loved ones ended in Hell. I think about this a lot, because my close family member died and because he was an addict and got brain damage, he did say and do some hurtful things, he otherwise wouldn't have. I so understand how he got himself addicted and so young, he had no way of understanding what he got himself into. He really tried to quit so many times... Only I feel for him is pitty, not anger, rather angry at myself for not helping him more. If he ❤, is in Hell... I don't understand anything anymore. And if my non believing mom that did everything for us, goes there, because she doesn't believe in God ( There's a good reason for that, too, if anyone saw her life story..) .. I don't understand anything! I want to be Christian, but I can't, because I don't want to believe everything the Bible says is facts or true... Gods words. I hope humans added a bit to get people to behave better, if they had no natural empathy, they had to be scared for themselves, instead. But I do worry the Bible is right. Then my family and I probably all will go to Hell. But then God isn't the loving, understanding God, I used to think he was. I have to believe he is good to not only the well behaved, but also the not so perfect, but with a lot of care and trying their best. I hope God knows everything and makes sure no one goes to Hell, unless it's the only way to keep others safe, until they realized their terrible mistakes and never would do them again, murder, rape, steal without desperately trying to save someone if no other options were tried.. I ramble, but if anyone think they know how it works...
@jimdude55295 жыл бұрын
Every one of your family members who past on was given "clarity". With this clarity, they are enlightened. With this enlightenment they instantly changed in direction of thought. They learn in an instant that Love of their Heavenly Parent (God) is able to erase the harm they might have participated in while being manipulated in an environment of separation from Truth (everything is working out for Good/eventually). They and all of humanity that has passed on are living in a state of Good far better than we who are presently still working it out in our present condition. There is no better way to dissolve a bad concept than given one enlightenment. This clarity is beyond some simple process we experience here on earth. It stops evil is an instant. Your concerns for your family and also others are well taken care of. No one can stand within this Loving Fire of God and resist the Truth. Such stories are because the human mind must always have a "what if" factor within its reason. The present human mind always has an equal opposite thought. This opposite thought mechanism is not part of the consciousness of Heaven. Yet it is part of this side and so it will continue presently.

Lapis Arja, thanks for sharing these thoughts and wonderings. I encourage you to trust your instinct about the nature of God as love itself. You have such a caring heart and your intuitions about the nature of the afterlife are spot on! No one is in hell based on their beliefs alone, it is about what's been deeply rooted in their heart based on free, rational choices. If our ability to make free, rational choices has been impaired, then once we're in the spiritual world, those physical limitations are lifted and we are free to come into a clear knowledge of what we truly love. If you want to hear more about the nature of hell and how that squares with a genuinely loving God, we have an episode based on what Swedenborg learned and witnessed here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYmmgGSGa9dggdk I hope this information is helpful to you! This is perception which I haven't had confirmation of .The reason God wants lots of birth on earth is due to creation by extension. God extends thought which becomes minds. Those minds created were people living in Gods mind or Garden. They fell and over generations lost direct energy from God. They extended their thought to create but not through God. Being aware of God allowed God to intervene and fill us full of his energy via regeneration. As the churches fell further and further away from God they heard his voice less and less. Christ bridged the gap allowing us to ask for his help for energy and truth. We finish the process in spirit level of heaven. Meanwhile on earth we keep extending creation and gradually, as we fall further away, we continually loose more and more energy unless we turn to christ. This way, creation returns to be done through Gods Devine energy and not ours. The plan is Entropy. We create without Gods will but God knows all and allows free will but saves us through Christ and regeneration which gives our creation divinity. The more we create, (sow seed) the more humans entropy and the more God creates by reaping the fruit. Eventually, everything will return to the way God wanted us to create but for now he continues to regig what we do to help us. You wanted comments Curtis😊. Any feedback?
@offTheLeftEye5 жыл бұрын
This is great, Mark! I really resonate with the big human journey you are describing here -- how humanity fell away from the original divinely-created order of things, trying to create things from themselves instead of from God's energy; how Christ came to give us a way to reconnect with the Divine (regeneration); how God brings eventual good out of everything including the negative choices we make; and how everything will someday return to the happy state that God originally created for us. We might have subtle differences in understanding what "living in God's mind" would have been, but, that doesn't matter. Your insights ring true to me, and I appreciate you sharing them!

Hi, Peter! I can certainly understand your concern! Totally valid. I imagine some of what we know to be city-like on earth will be the same in the afterlife, and other aspects will be entirely absent. Hello, Randy! The impression I get from Swedenborg's writings is that cities just manifest from people's collective states of mind, and individual houses manifest from people's individual states of mind. Thoughts and feelings are actual substance in the afterlife, and God uses that to do the building with. I can't say that I fully understand the mechanics of it, but that is what I generally understand. Does that help at all?
