The reasoning does make since though, but it became out dated once people replayed the game and got used to the wii. I feel like they should have added a "are you confident in the game's controls" choice at the beginning that would change the start to only 1 day if you clicked yes.

Interestingly, I disagree with this criticism, but I knew someone would bring it up in the comments. I actually like the time we get to spend with Link's character and the people that look up to him. I remember Nintendo of America actually held a poll on their official forums back in 2007 or so asking players if they'd be interested in seeing the game brought to North America. The results leaned more in favor of players saying "no" so NoA never brought it over. The original DS was region free so importing a copy from Europe was still possible but it's interesting that this is one of the few times NoA actually asked players if they'd be interested in something being localized. I assume the big reason why the poll ended with "no" as the winner is because Tingle's reputation in the West was still at something of an all time high and American players at the time were like "hell no, fuck that guy!"

I feel like the localisation bit is less a contradiction and more a mix of iffy word choice and misinterpretation. Given that it says that Calamity Ganon's revival was interrupted by Link, i think the line more means "He's given up on fully reconstructing an organic body and is just going all out," rather than "He's stopped reincarnation all together." He's still intent on reviving himself, but in the here and now he's given up on a new body and is just going full ham with malice.

I don’t think the English and Japanese dialogue about calamity ganon necessarily contradict. To me it sounds like “reincarnation” refers to him becoming fleshy, like his pig monster form or ganondorf. In BOTW, he’s still obsessed with his own revival, but has given up even attempting to become one of his old reincarnations and instead assumed a form of pure rage.
@ShadowVincent3
@ShadowVincent3 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had the same conclusion. He hasn't given up on reincarnating, just on this immediate regeneration (what he was trying before Link arrived,) and has decided "Fuck it, giant jello pig time." Though the wording is vague enough that I can see why some would reach that conclusion. I did at first.
@GreatJinjonator
@GreatJinjonator 4 жыл бұрын
ShadowVincent3 Yeah! He’s just like “I give up”. I think they could really run with the idea in BOTW 2 and make a point that calamity ganon won’t be back for a long time bc that was everything he could muster to revive himself, or maybe make the point that it took a lot of effort to become ganondorf and that’s why he gave up trying to reincarnate, it just wasn’t worth it.

@@8Kazuja8 It doesn't "break" anything though. The Zora was changed because the fast speed was clunky when you actually used it in the dungeon itself since it was tight quarters. It would have been better to just add a toggle somewhere instead of mandating the shield, but it was still changed for a reason. While the Deku Spin momentum was swapped to mid slide instead of the start, which stops you from skipping lilypads in the swamp unless you run in a small circle first. But that's not breaking anything because that was never intended to function like that to begin with, (as evidenced by how the game never asks you to do that to progress, and simply running off the pad to skip is more than enough.)

I really hate treating Miyamoto like he's a god among men who can do no wrong, he has made bad choices and has a tendency to be a huge strain on the people working under him, I really hate seeing Martinet say "of course Miyamoto is always right, its the way its supposed to be" thats the kind of backwards thinking that has led Nintendo to stay in their ways instead of evolving, how about actually TRYING to let the character talk for once in a game you control instead of letting amateurs do it like a certain Cartoon or CDI game.
@megjane7
@megjane7 4 жыл бұрын
I personally enjoy a lot that Link doesn't "talk" really. To me I always thought that he didn't talk because as the player of his character he's supposed to be you. Most games have the main character be very fleshed out and fully their own character that you simply make choices for. Whereas with LoZ games Link has always seemed like a bit of a blank slate that the player has been able to see as themselves. Overtime this has changed a bit since that very first, "it's dangerous to go alone take this," with Link acquiring more and more of a personality with character traits over the years. But it's always been diluted with how each player wants to play him as or imagines him being like. It takes things back to a heavier imagination aspect without feeling empty. It feels like a filled world with filled out characters and storylines but yet open enough for you as the player to experience it as you wish. Sure the ending is always the same, but I guarantee you each person is gonna experience LoZ games differently and enjoy them personally. Not to mention btw that they really hit the nail on the head with this when they made Breath of the Wild, putting together all their strongest points into one game.
@Gojiro7
@Gojiro7 4 жыл бұрын
@@megjane7 okay heres the problem, the very first thing you said was his name.....your not Link, your "you", you arn't roleplaying as yourself because the character doesn't talk, you have no agency over his actions so you cant Role play as him. A game character is not an Avatar of yourself unless you can customize them to be you in some manor, because making your character as bland and one note as possible doesn't make it able to slot your own personality over him.....because what if your a her? It doesn't work. So if Link is who he is, with a backstory, a life and people talking to him like he can talk......THEN LET HIM TALK!!!! I think people are scared of letting him talk out of a ridiculous fear that doing something too different will ruin the whole series.....even though Breath of the Wild has been the most different game in the series and it's been a massive success. people need to stop buying into Nintendo's BS that a character not talking makes them a RPG character, this isn't Half life where were in the characters point of view being talked directly at as if were them, were controlling a character, let him have more personality!!!!

That line about Ganon isn't a contradiction. Revival and reincarnation are very different, and he can both give up on reincarnation and still cling to revival. I think that's very cool. Ganon is basically so tired of doing the same song and dance every time that he's just given up on being a schemer, and instead is just a force of evil now.

On the topic of Miyamoto upending the tea table and Kyogoku Aya's writing, this phrasing originates from The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures, which had an entirely different story and included the Master Sword, the Triforce, and the Sacred Realm, among other more traditional Zelda symbols, perhaps serving as a prequel to A Link to the Past, though Miyamoto came in and "upended the tea table," as Aonuma describes it, and told the team to use a simpler story, likely leading the game to become a Four Swords title despite not being developed by the Capcop developers of both other Four Swords games: The Minish Cap, which began development in 2001 but was put on hold for development on Four Swords and then resumed, and Four Swords.
