Dylan, tape a CO2 or similar under your stem behind the camera. Tape gels vertically behind your seat post to turn that round disaster into an aero post. Make sure to always be carrying something heavy in your rear jersey pockets to pull the front of it back and tighter. That's another 5 -10 watts easy. And if you can get the aero helmet Lachlan used? holy crap. I've made a aerofoil cargo box wedge behind the seatpost with cereal box cardboard and duct tape and it works great to hold a C02 and tire plugs. As long as it's storage, it's not just a fairing and simply smart instead of cheating.

All are refrigerated until placed on bike or body. The bladder in back has ice in it. Lowering core body temp via chilled on body liquids and also pouring water from bottles on his head and body were all part of Dylan’s temperature management plan. If I recall correctly I believe in his other post-race video he said when leaving aid station he was carrying 7l but only about 3l would be for hydration…the rest for pouring on his body. He anticipates 20 watts plus are gained by managing body temp in high heat of the later ride. All excess gets dumped prior to final miles and sprint.

If you watch Dylan’s bike check video the wind tunnel revealed that the Lauf is actually faster aerodynamically than the stock Felt fork. Both he and the wind tunnel people can’t explain why and it doesn’t make logical sense, but the numbers don’t lie

@@veganpotterthevegan so would aero bottles that fit those tubes and frame shape. We're seeing them more on production bikes. Easy and obvious gains. One dude even had hideous fairings on his bike, honestly they were ghetto AF he could've used double sided tape or stick on Velcro instead of straps attaching it on. I could make something better in a few days, just put into perspective the time, money, and energy these guys put in but leave out so much easy obvious gains to be had.
@veganpotterthevegan
@veganpotterthevegan 3 ай бұрын
@timtaylor9590 plain and simple, aero bottles aren't always faster on modern bikes. And when you add someones legs churning air near those bottles, sometimes some people are even faster with normal bottles on an old frame that's not aerodynamic at all vs that sane frame with aero bottles.
