Earl Scruggs was one of the few great Nashville country artists who embraced the new music of the 60's, the youth culture, and was a visionary. Probably because of his son. He along with Johnny Cash got it. He could not deny the beauty of Joan's voice and Dylan's writing....Earl Scruggs: May His Memory Be Eternal !

This is the very definition of the American musical tradition. Earl not only pioneered the genre of bluegrass, he never stopped exploring and integrating the new into his playing. This is a lesson he passed on to Johnny Cash and can be seen in the latter’s “American Recordings”.
