Bud was already on the chopping block way before that season. Them winning the chip only delayed the inevitable. In comparison to Doc, Bud at least had a system that makes teams look so invincible (e.g. Atlanta Hawks without superstars taking the 1st seed in the east). But like Doc, they always have a ceiling. Both coaches can't seem to adjust against a well coached team and beat them 4 times in 7 games.

Management likes firing coaches because it's a Big Move they can do without it (usually) being an objectively obvious mistake. They've got to make Big Decisions to justify the big money they get, so they tend to look for stuff like that, whether it's actually justified or not.

The Bucks didn't 'sell their soul', if anything the Milwaukee did things the "right way". They developed this team over many many years before winning games with a young Middleton and Giannis growing as players in Milwaukee before trading for Jrue. They're lucky that Giannis is a loyal guy and stuck with them when most other superstars would have left for another bigger market. On the Raptors he had VanVleet and Gary Trent who were above average defenders at their positions. Dame and Malik Beasley by comparison are the worst defensive backcourt in the league. Playing above the level of the screen would mean both would get blown by which put far more pressure on Giannis and Lopez. Within 5 games the players complained and they switched back to playing drop coverage which had been a success under Bud. Additionally Terry Stotts a well respected guy around the NBA walked a few days before the season started due to Griffin pulling a power move and disrespecting him in front of players.

Bro is a Nets fan and talking smack. Dude you lost KD, Kyrie AND Harden. You traded Harden and Irving for pennies on the dollar. You could have kept at least KD and Kyrie together and had a decent roster but instead you own none of your own picks so you can't tank and your only asset of any value is Mikal Bridges. But hey don't worry I heard Ben Simmons has been working on his jump shot this off-season.

@@101noz101 Seems like I struck a nerve in an insecure bucks fan. Hope you're content with getting one hospital ring out of the Giannis era, cuz it ain't getting much better for you. The 2021 Bucks will forever be known as frauds who could barely beat a Nets team missing two all stars and got to play an inexperienced Suns team in the finals instead of the Clippers, but you'll probably still be the first ones to call Boston's current finals run fake. Giannis has been a playoff loser before and after 2021 and he'll continue to be so as long as he stays in cheese town. But hey at least Jordan Love is good for the Packers.

Curse narratives just obscure what could be legitimate analysis into what happened. I think there's a lot more to the Bucks victories and losses than just who was available and who wasn't. But deals with devils and curses are an easy way to overlook that and save a lot of time and energy.

For me, this upcoming season (24-25) is the one that will say a lot about the Bucks. 1) will the team be healthy? 2) will Dame fully adjust and will he and Giannis perfect their dynamic on court? 3) will Doc Rivers be able to coach them to consistently win? 4) will they finally give Ajax, AJ and MarJon a real shot and playing and prove that the Bucks aren't all 30+ old folks. I'd also like for them to trade out some of the old roster for a new big. Brook, PC, Crowder.... They could all go to make way for someone like KAT or another big that I know is probably gonna be looking for a trade. But with the Bucks so restricted in their trades atm I think they may just have to keep the roster and work on their dynamic as a team.

Little crazy to say a team "sold their soul" after one year with a ton of termoil and bad luck. A lot of the most iconic duos in nba history didn't win year one. Great example is the lebron wade heat. They didn't win year one and people gave them all sorts of shit, but then won back to back championships. A conversation like this is premature.
