Good work Dylan. I never go anywhere without both converters, makes such a compact kit with my X100F. I find the TCL particularly useful for stitching panos. A tip for screwing them on - put the "MADE IN JAPAN" on the barrel in the 10 o'clock position to start off. Works every time.

Lovely photos showing the capability range of the camera and your great skill. Loved the city shots and the mountain (Fuji by any chance?) As a Fuji newbie with an X100VI is the tele one worth it ,as the digital crop to 50mm equivalent still gets me a 20MP functionality so not far from a V? I’ve also seen shots the tele convertor with non-linear pincushion distortions. On a V I can see the resolution advantages. However, based on your comments, usage, and those lovely street and landscape shots I can see the wide angle convertor with the new sensor could give stunning results. I can also use my new 49mm circ polariser and protection filters. Does it need a lens hood too? Off on a tour of a China in two weeks so would appreciate a quick response. Thanks

Since the last update for the X100V which allows us to shoot RAW in crop mode, I'm not considering buying the TCL anymore, the slight lower resolution works fine for me. But I own the WCL, pretty awesome piece of glass.

Thank you for this perspective. I’ve been wrestling with trading in my x100v for the new X-T50 to get a little more lens flexibility. But I then find myself looking for a pancake lens for the X-T50 and nothing rivals what’s on the 100V. So round and round I go. This WCL may be a nice bridge

Fun fact, it’s possible to glue magnets on the inside of the old converters to hack them. It’s easy to find the right place and directions to communicate if it’s the tcl or wcl automatically. I also bought the wcl of the older x70, which provides an even wider field of view, about 26mm in full frame terms. Nice channel, subscribed.

This is something I've seen done. Personally, I'd rather pay the few extra dollars and have them integrated nicely by Fujifilm. Certainly a means to an end, though!

@@DylanGoldbyPhotographer You're right if you don't already have the v.1 converters, as is my case, since I got them for my old X100T. Didn't want to replace them for the v.2 when I upgraded that for the much better X100V. However, I caught another video by Kile Johnston explaining the the way to do that and I followed it with some improvements (first provisionally a small magnet from a fridge figurine with some double sided tape) but having checked that this worked flawlessly I got some neodimium (sp?) 5x1.5mm magnets and set them in place with a drop of cianoacrylate (crazy glue). That worked like a charm. The WCL lets you access very fast the 28, 41 and 58mm equivalent FD's and the TCL does the same for 50, 72 and 100mm by placing the Digital Teleconversion feature of the F & V cameras at the top of _"My Menu", which is what I did. Another tip, get a pair of Leica style red dots and attach them to your converters for a fast screw-in maneuver; I placed mine on top aligned with the aperture mark. Saves a lot of fumbling. The thin 1.5mm magnets allow full extension of the camera lens for astounding macro shots with the TCL. Would have loved that Fuji had opted for a bayonet mount for them tho, but that's the price of retro-compatibility.

Great vid. Thank you. Curious about focussing speed with the adapters. Thinking about getting the TCL for portraits and the WCL for wider indoor work, but I already have an XT-30 and XT-10 and 35mm F2 so I could just use those and get a wider lens. I have this idea that having 'just' the X100V and a WCL and TCL will make me want to go shoot and take it on assignments and have this ease and simplicity to everything. But I think that idea might be wrong because I'd have to screw and unscrew those lenses all the time, because the TCL might feel unbalanced weight wise and because there's no way to quicky change focal lengths. I'd like Fuji to make a quick-attach/release system so you can switch lenses real fast. I'm curious if the WCL and TCL also makes you want to 'just go out and shoot' or if they feel more like tools for 'work'.
@DylanGoldbyPhotographer3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. For me, these are still tools of play. They are a little cumbersome to get on and off, so that quick release idea sounds great to me as well. When it comes to AF, I haven't noticed a difference in speed. They don't have any moving elements, so as long as you have enough light for the X100 to focus, it shouldn't make a difference. Hope this helps.

@@DylanGoldbyPhotographer Thanks man! I found out through a review that the bokeh on the WCL isn't as much as I'd hoped, and together with experience from an assignment this weekend I think the 18mm f2 will be the right choice for me right now since I can slap that on my old X-T10 while using X100V and X-T30 for most of the shots. Thank you for getting back to me 💛

Awesome and informative review! I had the X100S for seven years. I used it for full-on wedding photography for two whole years before I got the TCL. The leaf shutter worked wonders for off-camera flash photography as I could use it with a cheap Yongnuo YN560-IV. It took a lot of beating with three falls, one of which was in a river along with me. I finally sold it last year as it was getting sluggish after all the abuse it took. I am still keeping the TCL as I will be buying X100V to complement my XT3 system.

Nice review as usual. I see an upload of Dylan in my feed, I click. Very useful because I'm sure that question is crossing the mind of many who own the 100V. It's true they're extremely expensive! Price of a complete nice kit. The GFX seems to be hunting especially when you put your hands close to your face (and you express yourself a lot with hands). The image seems a bit soft, and I watched it on my phone and my 27 inch 1440p, I don't know if it comes from the GFX, your compression or KZbin's one. I would like to see more videos with in in the future for the sake of experimentation but in 4K maybe if it's easy for you to upload. Oh and outside too 😂
@DylanGoldbyPhotographer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure issues with the GFX are simply down to user error. I set things the way I would for my X-T4 and it behaves quite differently, it seems. I'll have to experiment more if I plan to use it for video. To be honest, when it comes to 4K, I really have no interest in dealing with those files! haha. Outdoors, on the other hand, I'd love a little more of that. We're still required by law to wear masks in public and, in a city of 27 million people, everywhere is public. That makes it difficult to film anything on location while in Seoul. Hopefully, I'll be able to film something while I'm in the countryside next week!

I've now watched a few of your videos and love the relaxed approach. I also highly rate your photos! Just one question with regards this video and the X100V: why not a Leica Q2 with its wider focal length? Is it purely down to price? I'm a Fuji user, X-T4, and love what they do and, I'm also considering the X100V yet, the draw of a Leica Q2 is ever present (even if I can't yet afford one!!).
@DylanGoldbyPhotographer3 жыл бұрын
First of all, thanks for watching! I've used the Leica Q2 and couldn't love it. It's bulky and heavy as well as being ridiculously overpriced. As with most cameras these days, the images it produces are gorgeous, but it doesn't really hold any draw for me as a photographic tool. There are people who swear by it, but I just wanted my small, quirky tool back after about 30 minutes.
@jorgemtrevino Жыл бұрын
@@DylanGoldbyPhotographer For the price of a new Q2 you can get a pristine M10. Voigtländer glass rivals the outrageously priced Leica glass. I found my M10 a few months after I had purchased my X100V and I like it very much (already owned film Leicas), also I already had half a dozen lenses for it so the purchase didn't send me to chapter 11.
