Hey Brian, I just finished mine yesterday and took it out for a maiden flight. It was smooth and and predictable. Almost docile. I took your advice from the start and installed two E-Max 13g metal gear digital servo's for the rudder and elevator. Both of those surfaces are smooth and predictable now. Great call on your part and much appreciated. I upgraded the props with a pair of Master Air Screw counter rotating units. I don't know if this helped anything but I bet it contributes to how smooth the plane feels. I also changed the Umpalumpa pilot figures out for more realistic ones I had laying around. I got the PNP version and running a MotionRC Admiral gyro receiver with it. I love those things. I just wanted to say THANKS the help you've given me with this. The plane is just my kind of weird and I knew I had to have one the first time I saw it. With your help and advice it's also a pretty nice flyer now. I'm sure it wouldn't have been without this video!

Awesome Terry! I'm so glad to hear you were able to implement my suggestions and had good luck!!! The plane looks so good, and when such a small detail more or less ruins the plane, it's very discouraging - but with a $20 premium, sounds like you not only fixed the problem, but really improved the overall performance! Thanks for being here with us Terry!

Phew, glue/color in the rudder linkage tube, loose rudder hinge, weak/sticky rudder servo, wierd canopy glue, loose motor mound, a gap between wing and fuse and crappy instructions for 300 bucks? No way Dynam. FMS Corsair 1400mm is around same price and there are worlds between in quality. Can't believe this and are so glad you two pulled through. Thanks a lot for, it was a pleasure to watch :)

I'm glad it was a pleasure to watch, because it wasn't a pleasure to film ;) LOL We want to make sure people know what they're getting into. Dynam is capable of so much more, and they need to step up their game if they want to compete in the "big time".....THAT being said, for the price of a couple MG servos, I bet this plane could be near 100% in terms of flyability. That's REALLY what I demand of my planes...horrific build is forgivable if the plane flies great when it's all said and done.

Had the same problem with the plastic piece that wasn't or have enough glue on the rudder. Trying to get them 2 rods into that collar sucked. I just drilled it out ever so slightly easy-peasy connecting those 2 rods into that coller after that. Also a drop of glue on the collar where the 2 rods go in for Reassurance they don't pull out.

yeah, but you'll have to add servo extensions from the rudder and elevator, FYI. While you're at it - at least consider a few of these (4X Emax ES08MAII ANALOG amzn.to/2KNstdw ). They would probably take care of the elevator and rudder control issues, and the cables are probably longer.

Brian the length of your videos amazes me...so much detail...literally every second of your experience with a model. My wife doesn't have the patience for that...lol. How long does it take to upload a 4 hour video??? As for the plane...I've owned a few Dynam planes over the years. My experience is they are cheap and you can tell right off the bat. Sometimes the construction is...well...different. lol. The electronics are crap, but for the price that is to be expected I suppose. That said...they all flew great. I liked my Tiger Moth so much I replaced all the servos with Hitec and put a castle esc in it...the motor ran much smoother and stopped making an odd noise it was making. I bet I put 200 flights on it before I sold it. Nice review bud. Your wife is AWESOME.

Our internet is exceptionally slow!!! We have to leave them uploading for a couple days on a video like this...35-50GB files ;) Some day, when we have STARLINK, or another FASTER system, like 5G coverage, we'll be in better shape. We have Viasat now, and $170+ per month gets us a 2 year contract, with caps then throttling, as well as throttling BEFORE our cap too....so basically slow, but somewhat reliable connections. We get maybe 1-3mbs up...but as FAST as 100mbs down, and usually a couple mbs down...but as slow as 50kbs, all with 700ish ms Latency - I might as well be in outer space!!!

Camera crew is a hero for hanging in there for this entire video (well into the wee hours of the night). Regarding the swastika issue: I believe it's only Germany who strictly disallows the display of the swastika. Although we're all aware of the unfortunate history that is attached to that country and that particular emblem, I personally think it is a shame that some feel it necessary to deny history when building representations of that same history - good or bad (and yes, the swastika certainly represented "bad" in its Nazi application). Regarding your assertion that many or most in the RC modeling field adhere to the *no swastika* taboo, I'd respectfully suggest that is not the case beyond the German borders. It's just that we see so many videos that come from Germany, as the region arguably represents the RC quality highwater mark. For some reason they really seem to go above and beyond when building scale models there and kudos to them for doing so. Now, go across the channel to Great Britain and you'll see plenty of scale WWII German aircraft that include the swastika, likewise in the U.S.. It is the Chinese manufacturers who pander to the German no-swastika rule so as to not be barred from selling in that country. (Oh, and please don't be putting Dynam's English labels on your cool German WWII plane. Lol) And yes, I watched the whole thing. I've had my eye on this one as I always liked the lines of the BF-110, so I appreciate the comprehensive build review - warts and all. Finally, as always, thanks much for sharing. Steve
@BrianPhillipsRC

I tend to agree, but don't want to be insensitive with such a mixed audience. This is a hard line to walk of not stepping on toes. It's one of those historical points that many want to forget about, but I also hate the idea that we'd all forget, and run the risk of repeating such horrible things. For me, paying tribute to those who suffered through atrocity included acknowledgment of it's existence, but others just don't want to think about the horror of the events in a hobby. We're glad you stick around for the long video(s). Some of these build videos are somewhat punishing on Megan and I, but the plane assembly, in a comfortable, non-rushed situation might not be so bad...BUT it is a factor, and I want to share a real picture of our experience, even if that means some will pass on following the links, and we miss out on a sale here and there. I really think this plane is so close, it's worth the effort to make it 100%, but some will disagree. I'm glad Dynam makes some of these planes that others don't. They are beautiful when completed! Thanks for being part of the audience, stuff!

Hey again. Well, bro, without your video i would NOT have gotten through the empenage pushrods and the elev/ rudder puchrod setup. About the 13 g servos... I'd have to cut up the plane pretty good to get the old ones out and new ones in. I spent a lot of time getting the rear control surfaces moving easily. One thing i did on another foamie was deflect it away, then lightly run a small Phillips head down the hinge, scoring it lightly enough to barely dent it. They will still hold, but are much freer now. I havent done servo checks yet bc ive been out of the hobby for a few years and need new batteries for my birds. In a couple nonths i will have saved enough to buy a couple batteries, and a spektrum ar 636 receiver. I have a spektrum dx6i tx. Btw, my wasp decal was securely attached, so i guess they listened to you. It didnt take but about 2.5 hrs to get everythi g adsembled to the state in the picture...because i knew exactly what to do bc of your vid. Thanks again for all your videos and the tedious time you and the camera crew put into them. I bought the plane from bitgo. Funny, the only decals that came with it were american p51 decals. While i want my plane to look unique, a captured allied version was not what i had in ming lol. I sent an email to bitgo but havent heard back. I hope they can replace the decals. Take care...and you other prospective bf110 modellers out there...its not too hard if you watch this video. Enjoy the pics, and ill no doubt send you pics of its maiden crash...i mean flight. Jason. Well i cant upload pics here.

So glad to hear this! I hope you can get some of the new SMART lipos. They are so much better than my past lipos, but they are a LOT more expensive ;( I wouldn't chase down the G2 packs necessarily, as I don't see a huge benefit yet....the Gen1 Smart packs are GREAT! G2 are even better, but I can't say they're worth the premium...just my 2 cents. Bitgohobby will fix the decal issue if they see your email. Please follow up with me in a few days if you haven't and I can mention it to them if they don't get back to you. They have helped me out on a few items so far, but I know it's probably a little different since I'm trying to market their stuff ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC I came back for the "nuggets" and it was worth it! I never ever watched a 4 hour video on YT, but you two put up a great show and it's never boring to listen to all the little sidekicks between you and camerateam. I suggest to check the fit of the wing into the fuselage before inserting the extra cables and electronics, so you'll see if it fits at all in the first place. And for the central rudder lever, is there enough space between what I suppose to be a bushing on the cover plate and the lever itself? Or is the cover plate squeezed onto the lever by tightening the screw? All in all, moving joints unnecessarily covered with colour is... Dynam high quality. But I like the Bf 110, it's one of my favourite warbirds. I still have the plan for a balsa version in my drawer, yet to be built...

I love that plane. I like the looks of it and changing the servo's wouldn't be a problem for me knowing they needed it it from the start. The problem for me would be transporting it to the field. I watched some of the build and getting that wing off to load it in the car looks like it would be a real pain in the butt.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
I agree, but with the idea of knowing you HAVE TO take the wing off, a few servo extension cables for the rudder and elevator would help tremendously, as you could make them allow the wing to pull off and install back on so much easier. If you get it, please do consider some bigger OR metal gear rudder and elevator servos. Also look closely at the linkage rods and tubes to keep them free of glue. This is a big deal on this caliber of model, and can quite literally be the difference between success and failure...despite the pain in fixing said issue ;) Good luck whatever you decide Terry!

I’ve been flying for over 25 years now. I still love scratch building! I’m building a 210in B-52 bomber with 8 90mm EDFs right now. I personally can’t stand dynam, I had that BF-110. I had nothing but problems with the electronics! The build was easy (at least I thought) i’ve had a few other of their airplanes and to me it’s just a waste of money by the time you replace all the servos and retracts and motors and esc might as well just spend a few dollars more and buy freezing or horizon but unfortunately they don’t make a BF-110 so your kinda stuck.

Jeff, I feel your sentiment. I struggle to get the enjoyment out of some of these planes, when they're 95% good, and 5% NOT good...but I guess an online shopper would like to know these issues. I still LOVE the way this plane looks, bot feel like the mark was missed in the Elevator and Rudder servos, in particular...why not bigger OR at least metal gear servos? As for scratch building. Even before I got into the 5-10 planes a month "kick", I was too busy to afford time for a scratch built. I would like to make one, like the SUNBIRD, at some point, but I want to do it purely for enjoyment with no deadline attached. Even thought I really do love this situation (for reviews) it is a lot of work. I guess, for what it's worth, I hear about 1-10 comments on each video saying how I was able to help walk someone through the process, and they were flying now because of our video, so the process is getting people involved - which was one of my goals. We need lots of people in the hobby to basically keep it viable, and not have it legislated out of existence :(.... I hope that Dynam will listen to the criticisms I bring without fear that I'm upset with them, as the products are SOO close to being great. We'll have to wait and see. Also, I am not the most patient person, for sure...so that plays out in some of these models.

This is a unique plane , and it does take some work to put together, but if you are looking for war birds that are unique this is it . It grabs a lot of attention at the field. I have done several mods to mine and it has not flown yet .and will beef up the servo’s after listening to you .still looking for a set of counter rotating war bird props. I don’t mind the builds though.

I absolutely love the Eflite P-39. No joke. It flies fast and sleek, easy to land. It glides right in. I love the trike gear. This is a very nicely designed plane that is very forgiving and does not stall easily. Caution the 40a esc is not sustainable for 4s. I upgraded to an 80a (Hobbywing ~$35) and only run 4s. Load testing on the 4s with the stock esc was pulling 65-70a. It flies fine on 3s though. You will love the plane! Great videos as always, Brian.

For warbirds, is there a big difference in flying 1.5M as opposed to 1.2M?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the plane. This plane is a 1.5m but other than the wingspan, it's sized like a "1.2m series". Same as the eflite AT-6, which was an actual 1.5m in the 1.2m series.... The 1.5m Eflite P-51D is a 1.5m warbird. I hope this comment helps answer your question...

@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
I disagree with ALL their electronics. I should say that the Servos on the wings are perfectly sized. The elevator and rudder servos probably need to be more like 15g or bigger, but the mechanism they're running are high loads, so i don't blame the servo itself...it's the engineering of this plane...hence, if you don't mind the additional effort of swapping out two servos, you'll probably LOVE this plane ;)

@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
3000mm B-17 foamy would be super heavy, I bet. I kinda wish some of the MFG's would make them more hollow to save weight. The bigger planes need lower wing loading, in some cases, to really fly nice.. This plane ironically, flies great, but the elevator and rudder action on mine was just not up to snuff stock, BUT honestly, it's nothing a couple servos couldn't fix.

Hmmm, Intrigued I am. Flew nicely, looks marvellous but those rudders and elevator need sorted. Great build video, tricky but succumbed to a modellers talent. I checked the price point and the PNP with Spectrum AR636 is not as attractive as the ready to fly, complete with transmitter and receiver. Aaaargh...I want a great 4S warbird and she is perfect with twin props, flaps and Retracts! I wonder if relocating the rudder servo back into the tail would simplify the linkage and improve things, COG permitting.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
I thought about that too, but if you do, please use a smaller servo, since getting a bigger pack up front will be a chore ;) I also think a servo like this would probably resolve the issues we had... amzn.to/2KNstdw ...or similar, of course. These Detrum servos aren't the best, but they work great on the ailerons.

Thank you for the very long video to this. What a pile of a kit to put together. I found a lot of issues you delt with. as the elevator goes, with the linkage for the rudders. I found that the connector was painted and never moved causing the binding you had. I had to use pliers to break it free. Then it was good. The directions are a joke and I will most likely never get another Dynam kit. The kit once done looks great but I the headache to get it is a bit much.
