In this video, I do a comparison between dynamis alliance blade and dynamis alliance razorback review, made by Daniel Winkler.
I believe this dynamis alliance knife is a great tactical knife and a perfect knife for self defense. I have been a proud owner of both of these defensive blades, and if you are looking for the best knife for self defense, hopefully this video will be helpful.
The dynamis alliance blade I have for this video review was made from cpm3v steel, however their new blades are made from 80crv2 steel. I find either one of these to be the best concealed fixed blades, but I have one that I prefer over the other - you will learn which one in this tactical blade comparison.

Wait until 4th of July, he usually has a sale on the blades and might save you $50 off the Razorback. He usually has a sale on Thanksgiving too.

@@CivilianWarrior Why did you have to send the blade back to Daniel Winkler to get it sharpened? Did they fix the problem after you got it back from being a butter knife only to find it was still only any good for spreading butter? I am not a fan of the brand, to be honest! winklerknives.com/collections/frontpage?page=2 There is nothing in this collection that is not seriously overpriced for what it is. Who pays over $200 for a push dagger when you could get a Cold Steel Safe Maker for under $50 in AUS8a (rolling eyes). There is not a single blade in his collection that I have not got from SOG/CRK/Cold Steel in higher-end steel for less cash.

Good shit for making this review ! I like that you mentioned your proportions and how well it carries for you, because I'm close to your size and felt like I'd be in your same situation. If you ever wanna touch your own edge up, you can probably find a decent diamond stone like a Smiths for like 20, bucks and practice on a kitchen knife or something. Unless it's really dull, I suspect that medium and high grit do the job.

Thank you, happy to hear it was helpful! I'm not ready to try sharpening these blades myself. I've tried using Lansky stone, Japanese water stones and now have the Wicked Edge Go. Messed up some $20 folders a couple years back when I was trying to learn how to sharpen my own stuff. I like my Wicked Edge for my kitchen knives bc they are flat. Issue I am having with these two blades is having them stay perfectly straight in the clamp. The spin running along the middle makes it very difficult which then prevents both sides from being sharpened at the same angle. Been meaning to reach out to Wicked Edge and see what they recommend.

Glad to see this comparison. I’m curious about the benefits of serrations over the dynamis blade. I obviously like serrations for cutting rope, cloth, etc, but is there a self defense advantage?
@CivilianWarrior
@CivilianWarrior 3 жыл бұрын
HI! About half of the professionals I've spoken to say they prefer serrations on their blades. Serrations help tear through layers of clothing and flesh even if the rest of the blade is dull and you are using it in a slashing motion. They are even effective when you just apply downward pressure on bare skin as the jagged edge's start to pierce the first layers of the skin. Plus like you mentioned, they are good for cutting rope, cloth and seatbelts. But if you are just driving the blade in and out, I don't see the serrations having any additional benefit.
@ommaigod
@ommaigod Жыл бұрын
There's also a theory, (which I tend to believe), that serrated cuts on flesh cause more immediate pain than clean slices. And in self defense (as opposed to mil combat), pain compliance usually matters, because it changes mindsets from aggro, to defensive. My informal experience in kitchen and shop have supported this. When I was cut by serrated blades in the kitchen, and saw blades in shop, it immediately hurt, and they hurt more. When I've been cut with sharp clean edges, even that sent me to the ER for stitches, the pain was neither as immediate, nor as intense. I've witnessed similar with others, one that required emergency surgery -- the blade was "super sharp," yet he barely felt it, until he felt the heavy bloodflow soaking his clothing. He was not fighting, so he was not operating under fight-stress that tends to numb people's pain perception.

@CivilianWarrior

@@onereddfoxxx I can't say for sure. My dynamis blade is an older version. They used to use cpm 3v. It did come sharp. Seeing that the new ones are all 80crv2 like the razorback, I'd say there's a high probability it isn't razor hair cutting sharp. But these are more for penetration and not necessarily cutting. Great video dude. Only thing I would say is, no one knows you are carrying a blade just because you have a tiny bit of printing. Trust me, no one, especially now with everyone’s faces buried in their phone, is paying any attention to the tiny bit of printing you have. I have been carrying a full size pistol IWB for the past 27 years and I always have printing and no one has ever said anything to me. I have also have many occasions when I tell someone about my carrying (friends / family) and literally not one has ever known before I told them. Carry what you want, don’t worry about printing and you will be fine trust me.

Good review. Could you talk about the sheath?
@CivilianWarrior
@CivilianWarrior 3 жыл бұрын
Good point and sorry for not talking about that in my vid. Was so caught up on the comparison, but yeah i hope to make another video when they release their diving blade and I will talk about the sheath then. For now I can say that it is the best sheath I have had. No sharp edges. Nice and slim, very easy to forget you have it on. The handle of the blade is what reminds me I have one on and not the sheath itself. I like that you can have the blade all the way in or even an inch, maybe an inch and a half from its fully seated position and still not worry about it falling out. I have tried using the sheath for some other blades I have with no luck. Personally I prefer the older clip, it it slimmer bc it doesn't have the extra spacing the new ones have for us to be able to tuck our shirts into. The one thing I would like to see is the addition of a suede type of liner on the actual retention part of the blade. Help reduce the normal wear and tear of the blade. You can notice it on my razorback along the middle. I know it's normal to have wear and tear on blades and firearms but I also do like keeping things looking as new as possible. Andrew and Half Face Blades lines all of his sheaths with suede and it does make a difference. Hope this helps until I get my hands on another Dynamis Blade to talk about.

It’s not the blade steel resulting in the sharpness. It’s the blade/edge geometry. The blade is kept a bit thicker for strength when stabbing. Most dagger or spear point daggers are plenty sharp to slash. It was just never designed to be a slicer. Thanks for putting up a great comparison.

@CivilianWarrior
@CivilianWarrior 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I realized I forgot to talk about the sheath which is great by the way. It's rounded off everywhere so there are no hotspots or points that jab into the body. I recommend wearing it within the first belt loop on your pants. Then when you sit, it naturally angels outward and rests at the front part of the upper and inner aspect of the thigh leading down to the groin area. I've gotten so used to wearing it, that I often forget I have it on. Hope that helps.
