I agree. No shade to Emma Samms but she just wasn't the right choice for the part. It didn't help that she looked nothing like PSM. Most of the recasts on this show were terrible, with the exception of Steven. I thought that got that one right.

Yes, Pamela Sue Martin WAS Fallon, that scream gives me chills. What a damn fine actress. Fallon died when Pamela left for me. It did take something away from Dynasty when PSM quit. Why recast a role that has been so honed and perfected by a decent actress? Emma Samms never cut it for me. 1984, I was a toddler. Wow, 31 years have passed since this scene was filmed. Aarron Spelling should have told his daughter to shut up when she suggested that Emma take over the role. The producers should have let this scene be Fallon's swansong.

@seanpowell1661 No...As I said in my original post from 8 years ago. Pamela Sue Martin WAS Fallon. The Dynasty producer's should have let the character die than recast. People do die in real life. The Colbys was garbage that PSM was not having any part of It would have been good writing to heighten the tension between, Blake, Krystle and Alexis over her death After season 5, the show tanked.. Season 9 with David Paulsen in charge as showrunner was great. But it was too late by then. I believe they tried to get him two seasons earlier. But he had a contract with Lorimar for Dallas

​@@DaveyC95 I'm not sure if you knew this but, David Paulsen tried to get Pamela Sue Martin to come back prior to the beginning of season 9. He approached her at during the summer of '88 and asked if she was willing to come back to help boost the ratings. However, she declined! I understand that she was over the "Fallon/Jeff saga"! On the other hand, Jeff was dating Sammy Jo by this time. When Emma Samms discovered that Paulsen wanted to bring back Pamela Sue, sources say she was horrified. The only reason why S9 was so GOOD because of one person...Sable Colby. Stephanie Beacham owned that season! Those scenes between her and Joan Collins are epic! 😂

They tried to get David Paulsen for years...He got rid of the static acting directive on the show used by the Pollocks from season 3/4...Apparently, Leann Hunley who played Dana, Blake's secretary said it was ridiculous that she would have shouting matches with Adam, played by Gordon Thomson and she had to hold her body language in... I read that when the new head of ABC entertainment came in, Bob Iger, he wanted to kill the show, so he moved it to a different day and timeslot...And he's made a mess as head of Disney now, as far I'm concerned The irony is that the final season is the best one for several years...Seasons 1-3 were great... Linda Evans, left in episode 8 of the final season,, she wasn't in the first two episodes...She said that if she'd known the series was going to be axed, she would have stayed till the end...But she let David Paulsen persuade her to leave due to budget cuts, he intended to bring her back and was setting the show up for the 1990s...It wasn't to be... Stephanie Beacham came in and it was brilliant with her fighting with Alexis... And the fun thing is, Linda and Joan had only one scene together in season 9...That was over Alexis accusing Blake of killing Roger Grimes... The reunion was a joke...Oh well...

Fallon died when Pamela Sue Martin left the show, and DYNASTY was never the same. Emma Sams good actress, but casting her as Fallon, a dreadful decision.

To be fair, the writing got a lot worse at the same time, so Samms not only had to compete with the memory of Martin, but she had inferior scripts to work with. They SHOULD have cast her as Amanda--the character might have been more interesting that she was.

Yes, Pamela Sue Martin's scream at the end of that scene is truly haunting! But, Did they ever address the issue of her headaches? I always thought they were psychological induced from the mental trauma Fallon had after almost committing incest with her brother, Adam Carrington!

nothing against emma sams....but Pamela sue marting was well cast and a tough act to follow...how the hell could they cast an actress with an accent to play her....n emma sams did not have the acting chops or charisma to carry off playin such a well established character.

I'm currently working my way through the box set series of Dynasty and I have just started series 5. Fallon is missing and Jeff goes searching for her and is told by the Police Fallon is dead. Is this where Pamela Sue Martin went out, and Emma Samms came in?Anyways I'll be watching over the weekend to find out. I was a big Dallas fan back in the 80's and I'm just getting into Dynasty now through the box set of the show.

We all know PSM departed from the show because she wanted to move on but did the producers definitely declare her dead in season 5?? The funny part is that when we found out Fallon was still alive, we all questioned who's body was it that they buried? The body had to be completely burned if they couldn't tell if it was Fallon

True, Pamela Sue Martin is the True Fallon, yes, but Emma proved she was more than suitable for the role in the final season. Its just that the writers/directors/powers-that-be had forgotten who Fallon really was.

I watch this episode Fallon supposed to had. Married. Jeff that night but they could not find her that was her Wedding. Night. Alexis got arrested for arrested for murder Fallon’s wedding crystals try to find Fallon but she was already gone that was the same night that Alexis got arrested for murder and it was raining so hard Fallon ran into a truck she had dizzy spells we didn’t never see Fallon again I did not light when they replaced her with Emma Sams she did not played a part right at Fallon Carrington Colby I always looked at the real Fallon I love that red evening gown at the beginning of the TV show she look good In. She played fallon very good & she had better chemistry with jeff (john james) than Pamela sue martin, & emma was also great alongside miles colby( maxwell caulfield) in The Colbys! Emma could NEVER pull off what Pamela Sue did in the early seasons! Especially that scene when Fallon tried to hire Matthew Blaisdell to interfere in Blake and Krystle's marriage, her interaction with Cecil Colby , the affair with the Dr. Tuscany and her giving Krystle hell. I can't see Emma Samms playing bitchy or bratty. The reason why it worked for Pamela Sue because she understood how to approach the role and made it work. This is why Dynasty fans like myself were devastated when she left.Emma even stated that she didn't look at old tapes of PSM before joining the show. Which in my opinion, hurt her in the role. When I was watching the 2017 reboot, you can CLEARLY see that Elizabeth Giles studied the original Fallon. Fallon proved that she was strong, assertive and nothing to play with. When Emma took on the role, it was like watching Snow White as Fallon or a red head version of Krystle. Regarding the Colbys interaction, if Ms. Martin had returned to the series and went to the spinoff...she could've given us some GOOOOOOD tv cattiness between her and Sable Colby. The original Fallon wouldn't let Sable walk all over her unlike Fallon #2, whom was always crying whenever someone picked on her. In my opinion, Emma would've been better as Monica Colby. Tracy Scroggins had the BETTER chemistry with John James and she resembled Pamela Sue Martin. Spelling should've reconsidered and made them switch roles.
