The Zhang Jiao boss fight reminds me so much of an idea I got of a fantasy Three Kingdoms game's Wei Chi Bi battle where Zhuge Liang would summon a dragon at the altar to fight you while he's praying for the wind lol

We also get to see him before the rebellion as well. He even saves the protagonist and Guan Yu at the very beginning of the game helping them escape from corrupt officials. So they're trying to make him more an actual character and not just wacky cultist wizard man.

I'm pretty sure historically he did, He was saved by liu bei and his gang, but did not award them because of liu bei's low status . After the yellow turban died out, he returned to his post, basically guarding the "Northeners" until he received words from Yuan Shao about the Ten Eunuchs. Funny enough, in historical media depicts him to be evil, but speculatively , people were probably just jealous about him, because he was basically lucky to command the young king (and others had ambition to take over).
