Wow fascinating how you can create such sounds with such little materials. I need to try making such devices! Warm greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱.

Love it. I used to make these. Now I'm inspired to start doing them again. Thanks, great sounds.

Gorgeous sounds!

Ever tried to put a contact mike on a telephone pole during a windy day? I pressed my ear against one once and it was equally fascinating as terrifying. I can only describe the sound as that of alien trains.

Marvelous. I first heard wind harps on Richard Lerman's CD 'Beyond Earreach.'

Do you just carve a hole into the bottle, leave it open and hang it somewhere? If its that easy im gonna make some too, if not, please tell me how to make them
@czygyny7 жыл бұрын
It is the fishing line tied taut, perpendicular to the wind that causes the vibration, the bottle just provides the amplification chamber.

Appears that the bottle creates a vibrato - as the bottle shakes it alters the tension of the string. There is a wire tether at the base of the moving bottle that limits how far the bottle can move

How many strings are in here?

if you are still making these can you use like an eye bolt and then have something like a tuner?
@czygyny2 жыл бұрын
Yes, changing the tension will change the sound.

Hi, so the line just passes through the bottle ????
@czygyny3 жыл бұрын
No, the sound is created by the wind causing the monofilament to vibrate. The bottle only acts as a volume enhancer.

@@czygyny thx so the line doesnt go through the bottle at all ??
@czygyny3 жыл бұрын
@@williamsimmons4678 n this case the bottle rests on the line via a slit cut in the back, but I have made some where the line is attached to the bottle with a small bolt, nut and washer. The vibrations are transferred to the bottle for amplification.

@@czygyny i get it !! Thx for the help ! Im gonna string a couple of these, i live meters from lake ontario where we get some good clean wind 😁😁

Is it really that loud in person? Impressive.
@czygyny6 жыл бұрын
The sound does not travel far, sadly. I'd love for it to be louder.

El sonido es siniestro y cósmico. Solo faltan los extraterrestres. 😱

How tight does the line need to be?
@czygyny5 жыл бұрын
As tight as you can get it without breaking it in cold weather from contraction. You can 'tune' it by loosening or tightening, but it will need to be sounding to make the adjustments.

Looking for a way to piss off the new neighbors
@czygyny2 жыл бұрын
It is not nearly loud enough to do that. You'd need to use a bit of electronic amplification help. ;-)
