My wife has one sitting in the garage with 100 thousand miles. It is fun because you can really surprise a corvette guy and blow his doors off. Ours needs a new front valance and a paint job Colorado sun is brutal on paint. Have fun with that one it looks good.

Had good friends over 20 years ago that were real big in the 2.2 turbos. One of them Ed, he probably still has his VNT Daytona. He also has the Shelby CSX Turbo II. It was built up with a cam and other stuff giving him around 230 to 240 hp. Crazy thing, I rode in it and it was more linear like the Daytona wit little lag. I was pushed back in the seat but it was more subtle to me. I hope it is still running. Time moved on and I lost contact with them. Great guys!

The torque is pretty impressive my Dakota with the 2.5 is running 16 lbs so hopefully it’s right around there

With low pressure cast TBI pistons and cast TBI rods, I was surprised all you did was seize your rings and pop the tops. It was also depressing when I saw the new video since a lot of folks get to that point and junk a whole project. Are you going to put a turbo bottom end back in it? Also did you run a head marked "TS"?(tapered shroud, to help prevent detonation) I liked what you did with the intake. You have to be pretty decent at welding to deal with the horrible silica voids in those intakes.

@@marklucas3140 Thanks for watching, and honestly I was hoping that a rod was gonna break and really grenade it since the block was already cracked, the engine going in now is a 91 2.5 turbo 1 engine, I’m putting fresh gaskets and rod bearings in and seeing how long it’ll last

Glad to hear you're keeping it. Looking forward to watching more of the build. Have you ever thought of getting a FWD? The L bodies have excellent power to weight ratio!

The VNTs don't have a wastegate at all. The nozzle vanes are your only boost control. That's why boost control is difficult with an open exhaust. I think more people should experiment with external wastegates with these. Could be really trick, but most people get lazy and swap them to TII.
@marklucas31403 жыл бұрын
I actually found a little VNT manual boost controller recently. It's set up to where it can hook right up to the Garrett VNT.

I recently bought #327. Guy says he replaced the VNT25 with a vnt28, which added some extra lag but I'm still only getting around 12 psi boost. What else do I need to do to this car to get more out of this vnt28?

@@YostBuilt if I lived nearby I'd almost have to ask for some help. Would love this car to run right. I may just take the vnt28 out and find a stock vnt25 to put back in.
