Supposedly they are like goat vampires. In real life the chupacabra is a family of birds (whip-or-wills, nightjars,…) called goatsuckers that comes at night and eats bugs off of livestock. They do fly weird and in groups and at night it can look really crazy. Anyway that’s where it comes from.

The coolant leak is at the "Y" connector coming right off the water pump... Run your fingers on the UNDERSIDE of the "Y" connector and when it comes back wet-you have found your leak. The trans is leaking fluid through the drive shaft yoke because the transmission has been replaced, or rebuilt, and the is now missing the output shaft SLEEVE that seals to the yoke inside the extension housing. Very easy fix but will require that the shaft come out, and extension housing be removed to install a sleeve... OR, just pull the shaft, and plug the hole in the yoke... Either way works.

Say you have nb- wb sensors that are within >2% behind a stock manifold, then after headers the nb's go way out of wack...10+ percent. In this video say the wb is correct, does that mean the truck is running ballpark 10% lean in CL or if nb are correct is PE way off?

Just to make a correction here. Matt says in order to find the EQ ratio the math was 14.7 / 12.8 But really you don’t use 14.7, you actually make sure you use your set/commanded AFR in the tune. So if your stoich is set to 14.1, then the math would be 14.1 / 12.8 = commanded EQ. Thought I’d point this out. 👍

Matt, if we are doing MAF or VE Tuning at Idle/Part Throttle do we need to disable Power Enrichment? Does it even matter? Also, Is it safe to say that all of these vehicles need to have Stoich flatlined to 14.10?
@Matt_Sanford9 ай бұрын
You don’t ever have to disable Power Enrichment. All that does is change commanded AFR/EQ Ratio and we are tuning for the error between actual and commanded so even if commanded changes during the tuning process, the actual will follow suit. Hope that makes sense. I’m not sure why the information ever got out about disabling PE. Same with DFCO, I never disable that either.

My understanding of modifying the stoich table: An O2 sensor is a lambda sensor first and the AFR we know and love is a transfer function from lambda. We know E10 pump fuel has a lambda 1 of 14.1:1AFR, but at Lambda 1 the ecu is reporting 14.7 because that's the stoich of the fuel being used. Modifying the stoich table to 14.1 and it's subsequent fuel calculation would be telling the computer to aim for richer than stoich and outside of the accurate range for narrowbands, right? because Lambda 1 = a reported 14.7, no matter if the reality is 14.1...RIght?

Turning off the long-term fuel terms in my opinion is just the laziest way of tuning. Didn't you say yourself just a couple minutes prior to that its best to keep all of the original features working if possible" don't disable things...... I understand if you're in a scenario where belong to headers make one o2 sensor read a lot worse than the other but that's extremely rare and easily fixable. Almost every vehicle that comes to my shop that was tuned by somebody else has the fuel trim turned off and usuall it's a really basic tune that had absolutely no reason to have the fuel trims turned off. it cuts their mileage in half and causes them problems returning to idle. I can tell you've got a lot of experience doing thiso I want to know why you think it's necessary to turn off the fuel trims.
@Matt_Sanford9 ай бұрын
You are allowed to have your opinion but after doing this for 18 years, I also have to consider my customers. LTFTs learn bad habits with exhaust leaks, misfires, etc. Customers will fix the problem and then think their vehicle needs to be retuned because it still runs poorly due to learned fuel trims. Thats why I do it my way. It literally takes me 1 second to turn them back on so it isn’t a lazy thing. I don’t do basic tunes though. If you saw one of my completed tunes in full, you would see that. The only reason it would cause fuel mileage issue or issues returning to idle is if the vehicle isn’t calibrated properly. Poor tuning causes that, not LTFT being disabled.
@Matt_Sanford9 ай бұрын
Also turning off LTFT doesn’t disable closed loop fueling. It just disables learned closed loop fueling. They still have short term fuel trims that can correct as normal. I think you are thinking disabling closed loop fueling which is completely different.
@coboscustoms43429 ай бұрын
@@Matt_Sanford in a scenario where fuel quality changed, air quality, ambient temperature, dirty maf, all the absolutely normal stuff that can change makes the long terms much better to have on so that way it's not just gonna default to the values that best suited it to the environment you tuned it in every time you let off the throttle. The Ltft is what stabilizes that before the stft has to compensate.
@coboscustoms43429 ай бұрын
@@Matt_Sanford I know very much why I specified Ltft and it's defined in the prior comment. I've proven a multitude of times that fuel mileage improves having it on.
