Gotta do both, dyno tune to get the majority of the map then street tune for the fine details that you wont notice on the dyno.
@garnetreecejones922211 ай бұрын
Cept, you can do that on the street lol. The benefit to street tuning is real world loads. Not simulated. And with a laptop you can see live data/graphs (though you do need a second person with you who knows what they are doing.

For sure, he should have just left it at “dynos are easier and you’ll get more accurate data, for building track cars.”

I got mine street tuned and its running flawless
@KaiVael11 ай бұрын
Yes. That is completely possible. But when making changes in, lets say, timing. When you are chasing hp on a dyno. You can see if the changes result in more power or you are just making more heat/less reliable, and you can detect and test knock easier.
@dannygaldamez761611 ай бұрын
@@KaiVael yeah I would have to agree in that perspective at least you know what power you're making on the dyno
@Dappersworth11 ай бұрын
Tuning on the street gives a real world environment on what the vehicle is experiencing, when you will actually be driving the vehicle, and thus will give a more accurate tune. Dyno is good for a baseline to then street tune for refinement.
@joey_f4ke23811 ай бұрын
It´s more the other way around, on the street you have no accurate data for your output, so fine tuning dips on the power band is near impossible. You can really dial in things based on feedback from all onboard sensors but that doesn´t tell you where you are down on power. This is totally fine for street cars but that last 10% you want for the track absolutely needs to be done on a dyno

Street tuning is way better for dialing in the drivability of the car you just built not just all out hp number

Street tuning is fine as long as your data logging and have a good tuner. Steeda tuned one of my cars this way.
@az_3kgt7142 ай бұрын
Though tbf street tuning is better if your tuning for real world conditions. dyno is better for racing. Dyno tuning does give you hard numbers were street tuning even with virtual dyno is an estimate at best.
@patx3511 ай бұрын
Completely missed the point of the dyno. It's not about monitoring the "health" of the engine. It about creating a fully synthetic load on the engine. If the engine is being weird at 4000 RPM, a steady state dyno can simply hold the engine at 4000 RPM while the tuner modulates the load to recreate conditions. Street tuning requires the driver to hold the brakes and throttle right at 4000 RPM to recreate the same steady state condition. Of course, there are also dynos that are completely incapable of applying steady state loads, which means they are only useful for making pretty charts and nothing else.

If only there was a dyno within a 10 hour drive from me that would tune a pfc mr2 spyder. Unfortunately there isn’t so i had to tune mine by myself.

But, with street tuning, you do everything you would with a dyno... but on the street.
@scotturtel109411 ай бұрын
This guy is just plain wrong. Read a book and then go visit some grassroots performance shops. They do both if they are in possession of, or have access to a dyno. A lot of those shops don't, so the only option they have is to street tune. Not to mention that all the things that he claims you can't do on the street, you 100% can...it is recommended to have someone riding shotgun observing the PIDs and adjusting the tune while the other person is only responsible for piloting the vehicle. Stop with the misinformation. Do better.

For finding the optimal fueling and ignition, yes. For tuning fast spooling turbo PID-controller, I still prefer street tuning.

Street tuning is better because of what the formula 1 legend Niki Lauda has said "God gave me an okay mind, but a really good ass, which can feel everything in a car."

I done both. From my experience, the dyno tune pull harder top end and street tune pull nice and smoother low end but lose a bit top end.

That is absolute bs what I call dunk tuning. You can’t tune an engine properly for street if u dump it. That’s because it *rolls* on a flat surface whilst the street it bouncy etc.
@manrs603711 ай бұрын
Of course street turning more better😂

Dyno tuning is SO much more expensive though. Like not even close.
@MoxxyEvo11 ай бұрын
Ideally you want to do both. Dyno will get you close to where you need to be and have better metrics to measure, but street tune will get you the rest of the way.
