Morgan Lee Tay I bought it a few weeks ago - I have thick long hair and it works amazingly on me! I find zero need to spend that huge amount on dyson. I use it with the Kenra platinum blow dry spray and my hair looks better than when I leave the salon. I was shocked at how easy it was!

Honestly, I like the Revlon side better. I think the Revlon looks more like a salon blowout. I feel like it's less fussy, as well. The brush does almost all the work for you. With the Dyson, you have to work more to get the movement in the hair that comes with the Revlon's rounder shape. It's a round brush and blow dryer in one and it makes styling a blowout a no-brainer.

In my opinion, I think it's less effort with the Dyson because the air flows along with my hair not against it, resulting with minimal effort to style my hair while it dries. With the Revlon because it has boar bristles, the hair can get "stuck" when you try to move it on the brush. So I have to put in some extra muscle (lol) to work with my damp hair. Also Revlon hair dryer is more rectangle/oval rather than round. But both achieve amazing results!

The Revlon side looks smoother and more volumized! Also, when you were using the Dyson it was blowing your hair all around and seems to cause more flyaways...looks more difficult to get that round brush effect that looks so great. I’m not sold on the Dyson hair appliances-bought the hairdryer and returned it within a week! Too heavy corded and I definitely didn’t see my hair looking as smooth and healthy as with my T3 Curo!

Having thin, fine hair I just can’t handle losing that much hair as with the Revlon styler. Maybe that’s why it’s so cheap! Granted the Dyson is overpriced but I’d rather use a tool that is clearly easier on my fine hair. Great review!

I bought the Revlon a few weeks ago after seeing your review. I also bought the John Freida air brush to go along with the Revlon because the Revlon has such a large brush, I needed something smaller for waves and curls. Really like the Revlon but it gets hot, hot! Using the 2 together was a pain but I was able to get the style I wanted...sort of. Then the Dyson came along. I just received mine on Fri and have been playing around with it. I went back and forth all weekend wondering which one I should keep...based solely on guilt because of the price! If it wasn't because of the price difference, I'd keep the Dyson, hands down, no guilt. BUT, because the Dyson has many other attachments AND the temperature has less heat, I packed up my Revlon and John Frieda today to give to a friend, or maybe even return. Yes, the Dyson is pricey but my main objective with my hair is to try to keep it as healthy as possible. I still like to get my hair colored (although not as much as I used to and now get no bleach ever) but I've seen a serious decline in hair health over the years because of my dryer and flat iron or curler use. Def an investment but the shine I get from the Dyson and knowing that it doesn't get as hot as other stylers, I think it's worth it. Thanks for this video. It's helped with the guilt of buying such a crazy expensive hair tool. :)

Honestly I don't buy Dyson because of the CEO. It sucks because I loved Dyson's products up until I found out the CEO was a major Brexiter. Remember Brexit? The hate campaign that went all across the UK? I have a friend born and raised in London and he was disgusted by everything that happened before/during the Brexit vote. Lots of people there were being extremely hateful towards Muslims. Ever since then I stay away from Dyson since they keep that CEO in his chair. Making an edit here too: It's Sir James Dyson - the inventor/founder of Dyson.

This is one of the videos that helped me decide to purchase the Dyson. FYI from the perspective of someone who has fine curly hair and has tried both- I prefer the Dyson. The Revlon pulls out a LOT of my hair and leaves a lot of areas still very frizzy. If you guys find a coupon for the Dyson ( I got mine on a 5x points week with a 20% off coupon and signed up for the Ulta cc to get an additional 20% off& got double points there too. Plus ebates had 10% cash back) I really do recommend it. My hair looks like a hairdresser styled it and I usually am not great at hair.

You said that the Dyson had more concentrated air... which is true because its concentrated to one side, making it easier to make a sleek look. While the Dyson round brush has air coming from all sides and is meant to be a volumizing brush... just like the Revlon. Also a better comparison as far as the bristles are concerned would have been the other flat brush that has stationary bristles. Granted there are no bore bristles but it would have been a better match.

Great video, Milabu. I have both tools. I’ve used the Revlon for about six months only on low heat as it does fry my hair when it’s on high. As you said, it’s more awkward to use in the root area because of the bristles. I do lose some hair with this tool, which makes me cringe. I’ve had the Dyson Volume Airwrap for two weeks. No contest. My hair is much shinier and healthier using it. There’s a learning curve in using it, but my hair is sooo soft and silky and just healthier feeling. The price of the Revlon is way more attractive, obviously, and it’s an ok tool, but my hair health is much better with the Dyson.

I feel like you don't like the boar hair bristles because you don't need them. you naturally have thin straight hair. But those bristles are much needed for someone with thick curly hair, as the tugging will help straighten the hair when you comb/dry it. I don't see how that dyson one will work on thick curly hair lol

america there’s accessories you can buy for all their products. The product she’s using is a dyson blowdryer, and she just has one of the accessories. There’s boat hair bristle accessories as well. I agree that having two in one is super inconvenient and it’s so much better to just buy different attachments.

Same. I have very delicate hair that does NOT respond well to round boar bristle brish tugging or heat. I haven't colored or bleached my hair in years. It's like loose silk strands! I've had multiple panels run, but delicate hair runs in my family. I rarely use heat and can see the destruction when I (or a salon) use it. Great video; it confirms that the Dyson is what I believed it to be.

I personally like the Revlon side better. You have a little "cow lick" in the front on the side you used the Dyson. When I used to spend 20 minutes (if not more) of just drying it, now I spend 15 minutes doing both, drying and styling. It's a life changer. The only thing I would love for it to have, is a heat serting... it gets SUPER HOT when using the highest speed. A way to moderate the heat without compromising the speed would be a major upgrade to it. That would be my only con. Other than that... revlon for the win (for me!)

Ppl were complaining about the dampness of your hair? You’re definitely right to not take a round brush to wet hair...just to prove my point .... T3 celebrity stylist David Lopez suggests using a dryer to rough dry hair first. Set it to medium heat and low speed. “If hair is very wet and put on high speed, then it gets whipped around a lot,” he says. “This can cause split ends, tangles, and frizz.” Once hair is about 80 percent dry from the rough dry, then you can start sectioning it, molding it, and styling it with a round brush. Really like your 2 videos I’ve seen so far, new sub :)

Let me tell you girls, as a retired hairdresser of 47 years, you are absolutely crazy to spend that kind of money on any hair styler! There is just no justification...except lining Dyson's pocket...to have a blow dry brush cost like that. There are a ton of good styling products on the market and ask your hairdresser for a recommendation. Sally's is open to the public and there is a good selection there.

I bought the Revlon after seeing your original review, and I love it. I had a mid length bob and I would blow dry my roots/bangs with a concentrator, then use the Revlon to dry and style the rest, which cut down the time by a lot. I found if I used it on high it made my hair frizzy, but using it in low and then going through all over with the cool setting made it so smooth and shiny, and it would keep the shape for days. I think people are just siding with the revlon to convince yourselves that it’s actually better, price point or not, cause honestly I can tell the Dyson is better. I’ve been having the revlon for 3yrs and it’s great for the price but it gets too hot and I have a lot of hair so by the time I’m done I don’t know if it’s still damp or I’m sweating 🤷🏻‍♀️ the revlon looks like more work because the brush has so many bristles that the hair looks like it has a hard time maneuvering through it so that’s what probably makes us shed a lot. I also got the Dyson because it’s supposed to be less damaging so I’m all for that. I never really put heat on my hair because I try to keep it at its healthiest and while I do overnight curls they don’t always look good and it’s uncomfortable to sleep like that at night so I guess it depends on everyone’s needs

I fast forward it towards the end without paying attention to the thumbnails and I liked the left side more. Lo and behold... the revlon. As a stylist... a consumer should not waste that much money. Leave that to the professionals. And let's not kid around here, whichever one you use, you NEED to have heat protection serum on your hair.

Revlon also makes a brush dryer like the Dyson attachment used. I feel like a more fair test would be using the same attachment for Dyson as the Revlon brush used (round vs round / flat vs flat).

Thanks for the comparison, I did buy the Revlon last week & it worked great! Lots of volume, I looked like I had a professional blowout done. I did not like finding my long hair in the bristles. I think I’m going to wait for Black Friday & see If Dyson discounts their styler. I’m impressed with Dyson based on your in-depth review. Thanks so much.

I have to say, I specifically went out and bought the Revlon one based on your previous review and i LOVE it. Now, it's a little tricky to use when you have long hair like I do, but it does make my hair have so much volume! Not to mention it's way affordable.

I have the Revlon after seeing your review. I do love it and I lose hair all the time as I have a lot if it! The Dyson is truly cost prohibitive. There are too many other things in life I would prefer to spend my money. I can confidently say I will NEVER spend over $500 for a hair product! Interesting contrast and comparison though.

I think I like the Dyson, I have long hair and I loose quite a bit of hair when I blow dry my hair so I like that about the Dyson but not for $500.00 dollars, that's insane. The Revlon seems more budge friendly but then I can not deal with my hair getting stuck (I had a few nightmares with brushes … I don't want to ever remember that experience) so I'll just keep my regular blow drier and my brush. Maybe in a few years I might change my mind. Thank you for the review =)

I like that you did this - the Dyson's obviously prohibitively expensive for many. I do love the Dyson myself - I got the complete package so I can get countless different looks out it. Straight, voluminous, tight curls, loose waves, flicks, beach waves...I'm still finding new things to do as I hold the attachments at different angles and use different products. The finish is lovely. BUT, if all I were using it for is that one smoothing brush attachment every now and again, I totally would get the revlon or stick to a round brush and hairdryer; I wouldn't spend that much on it for one attachment/look. Of course, with the two curling wands, the round brush, smooth brush, firm brush and rough dry attachment, I can see the value...for me at least!

Thank you for this detailed review. I'm definitely going to be getting the Revlon, sadly the Dyson has a ridiculous price tag! Lol even my weekly mortgage payment doesn't cost that much 😂 I don't know what their marketing team were thinking of pricing it at that point for a hair gadget, I'd rather spend it on a beautiful piece of jewellery!

I have the Revlon contraption. It works fabulously well. I have a chin length graduated bob. The Revlon gives me lots of bounce. I would never pay the Dyson price, too rich for my blood. The only knock against the Revlon is that it is extremely loud on the high setting. Much louder than an blow dryer. I have taken to wearing those foam earplugs when I use it. It really is that loud.

I have very curly hair ( type 3a, very frizzy) and I have used both. The Dyson went back. The Revlon is truly an amazing tool. I thought the Dyson might be life changing because I figured I can use the Coanda curlers to smooth my hair at a nice low temp then just iron the roots. Well I didn't like the texture it left my hair with. As far as the brush attachment which came with mine...that just didn't work in my hair at all. Just a frizzy mess. So I sent back the Dyson to QVC and bought the Revlon soon after. Of course, my mind was BLOWN and so was my hair Lol. I will have to get one for backup. I just wish the Revlon was smaller so I could get more wave on my ends.

I have ZERO interest in spending THAT much money on something like that! LOL. I recently bought the Revlon one about a month ago, maybe?! Because of your review on it and I LOVE IT! I've always loved these types of brushes, but needed a new one because the one I previously had was starting to go out because I had it for such a LONG time! I bought the Revlon one and was SO pleased! It was way better than the one I was using before. Much bigger and air flow is much, much stronger! Perfect for my long hair! I use it every time I wash my hair and I always get SO many compliments! I highly, highly recommend the Revlon one! 🙂

Wow, I cannot believe that you and this video showed up in my feed this morning - I have never seen your channel before and I was thinking last night that I really wish someone would do this exact comparison so I would know whether or not the Dustin was worth a $500 difference.. I only just learned about the Revlon tool yesterday And had been planning on purchasing the Dyson at some point in the next year to year and a half. I think I will get the Revlon now for sure and try to save up for the Dyson maybe in two or three more years. I think it is absolutely worth it because it does so much less damage to your hair. To me that makes it worth the price difference. Also, I don’t think that the Dyson will ever need to be replaced. I think it will hold up and remain working and functional and perfect for a lifetime. At least I would hope so at that price! Anyway thank you so much for making this video. It really helped me a lot.

I have the Revlon dryer and the only thing I don't like about it is that it picks up hair from the lower layers when I dry and makes it kind of frizzy. The thing I find confusing about the dyson is when using the curling tool, do you have to change the barrel for each section?
@KrissanLeigh
@KrissanLeigh 6 жыл бұрын
Karen Gertis I think you only have to switch the curling barrels when you switch sides of your head. That’s if you’re making both sides curl away from your face, if you wanted to alternate your curls then I believe you would have to change the barrel for each section
