the main advantage of a Dyson is the cyclone assembly. It works and it does not get clogged - if maintained. The heads are too close to the floor and won't pick up big objects - as you noticed - not sure why they are designed like that. The Dyson's also won't release anything in the air - and you don't need to change filters or bags for that to happen. That I believe has been confirmed by some tests. (Yes, a Miele won't do that either but you'll have to account for bags and filters over time). I have a second Dyson in my workshop, I use it connected to circular saw, sander etc. Any other cleaner would clog after seconds, requiring a new bag. I'm not saying that Dyson's are the best ever - just sharing my experience with a 10y old DC-08! :)

I read many reports and seen pictures of Dyson Cylones that are absolutely packed with dust and they don't make them easy to take apart for the average user, so after a period of time even a Dyson can loose suction.
@tony359
@tony359 8 жыл бұрын
+ibaisaic Yes, I've seen those videos too. however my 10y DC08 never had this problem and I've disassembled it twice. I feel that if the cyclone is properly maintained (emptied in time and filters cleaned) then it will perform OK. I've also heard that there was a specific model of Dyson with a design flow which was causing the cyclone to clog - Dyson apparently took care of the problem with all the existing customers.
@nickm455
@nickm455 2 жыл бұрын
@@ibaisaic They do get clogged with dust probably 50% of the time. The hardest part about putting it back together is the spring. No one ever washes their filters and half the people do not empty the bin every time they use it.

Thank you! This is a very informative video. I bought this model 13 years ago; it’s still going strong. Since then I’ve found 2 more that people have left on the curb; they only needed minor repairs. Best of all is your T shirt! I am owned by a stubborn little sausage dog who rules our house! Thanks again! I’m now subscribed so I’ll see what else I can learn.

I have the American version of that white vacuum, the Shark Navigator NV355. It’s the only vacuum I’ve ever used that handles diatomaceous earth without a problem. Bissells (didn’t filter out the DE and just blew it right back out), Kirbys (bag pores clogged and the brush roll belt started slipping as DE built up on it), and Filter Queens (blew out the paper cone seams), none have handled it quite like the Shark and it was a trash pick, it was abused really bad. They aren’t particularly robust machines, don’t expect a lifespan of more then about 3-5 years, but they do work really well.

The DC25 is good on the carpet or at least my dad's DC25 Animal is. My dad's stairs are wide enough at the bottom to rest it on the step and it reached to the top but it wouldn't reach to the top. I filled it after one room on a fairly clean carpet. Would that be because it is the animal model or would the multifloor model perform the same in every day use?

I really wish that the care facility I work at once a week on Thursdays with my friends would have money in their funds to have an upright Dyson vacuum cleaner, because it lasts a long time. It's very easy to clean out when it's full. It's very expensive to keep and maintain which really sucks. Please demonstrate the Shark Rocket vacuum cleaner.

I found this video strangely captivating. It's probably because I'm considering a Dyson, but now I am leaning toward the Shark. I really dislike that the Shark's cable is on the right, because most people are right handed. It makes it much harder to route the cable with your left hand, but it wastes cable if you route with your left hand anyway.

***** The Dyson is amazing. It works perfectly but the only thing you need to know is that some carpets brands don't recommend Dyson because of it's extreme suction. I haven't had that problem with any of my large area rug and it really really cleans great! The only think I don't like is that I have to come here to figure out how to use the wand and get it back together.....

No one has explained Dyson the way you did. Thank you! I had this DysonDC25 since it first came to the US market which was a lot of $$$ for a vacuum cleaner. Anyways 3 months ago it stopped working. I had time last week to take a look, i cleaned and washed filters and left it under Texas sun inside my car dash. After 24 hrs i put it back and now the vacuum is working, but now the motor or something is making annoying noise when vacuuming! Idk what it is! I watched few videos last night, they suggested it is the filter making the noise because of washing! What's your recommendation? I know you have more experience then any other reviewer i have watched this week.

All we had to pay was the sales taxes on ours since we got it through HP rewards, I would never pay full price for this machine since there are so many flaws with it, not to mention its not ergonomic at the handle when you have to pull it around while using the extension wand, and, the cleaner wont stay in place on the floor, it tips over alot. Also, I have had to send it in to repair twice because of a faulty spinning mechanism that quit working, therefor the bar would not spin, which required me to drive all the way to the next town to have it shipped to Houston and use a back up cleaner until I got it back a week later. Granted it was a free repair but If I had paid full price on this piece of junk I would have been very upset.

what you do is use the dyson to pick up the muck as you would and use a miele or sebo to over the same carpet using an empty bag and compare the contents of it what the dyson left behind. it will give a comparison of the suction but also the agitation feature of the miele and sebo.

I actually rate the shark better, but the comparison of the 'lines' remaining in the dirt is unfair as you pulled the dyson back over the same path but with the shark you pulled it back about 2 inches to the right of where it went forward, thus picking up the lines on a different part of the brush
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 9 жыл бұрын
Jason Bodell It was not a deliberate act on my part that I didn't follow the exact path, but if I still owned either of these cleaners, I would do the same test but make sure the cleaners went at the same speed and stayed parallel to each other. If I were to test my Dyson DC40 against my Shark rocket, the Dyson would win in that case.

But my DC14 has been running for 7 years and it is as good as new (Except for the dirty filters, I am not 20 years old yet and we wont get a replacement)! I washed the upper filter 2 times but never the HEPA filter. I have opened it and it was black and dirty. I remembered when we got the DC14 new, I broke the crevice clip. I wish we had the crevice. It should be in one of the boxes.

There seems to be a lot of complaints online that the latest Dysons have gone downhill and it is very very unlikely that I will buy another Dyson. Check out my other videos for the Morphy Richards Complete clean, especially the one Vs the Henry Micro. If you don't need the dustaway tool, get the 73411 Family and Pets model. ibaisaic I have owned a Kirby for many years. It was fantastic at cleaning, but I just got fed up with the weight, and impracticality of the thing. I was researching what to replace it with, and after watching one of your reviews, I eventually got a Sebo Felix. I am delighted with this unassuming machine, which just does everything so well, and with a minimum of fuss. It is also well built, lightweight, and cleans really well, without the need to beat the carpet to death (unlike the Kirby) Thanks so much for your detailed reviews

Dyson = Overpriced and overrated. I just bought a Stihl SE 62 (Actually I think they are made by Nilfisk) . I got it at a knockdown price, ( same price as a Numatic Henry £100! they are normally about £170) OMG it's a beast! I had a Dyson animal before and The Stihl is 10 times better.💪
