The Dyson DC65 is a muscular upright vacuum cleaner manufactured for multi-surface
cleaning. It has Radial Root Cyclone technology and also an active base plate brush bar to
clean all dirt and dust from the house.
How to clean Dyson DC65 clear dust bin
Do not use detergents, polishes or air fresheners to clean the clear dust bin. Do not put the clear bin in a dishwasher. Do not immerse the whole cyclone unit in water or pour water into the cyclones. Clean the cyclone shroud with a dry cloth or dry brush to remove lint and dust.
Look at the canister of your Dyson DC65. You can see dirt deposited on the filters in the dustbin of the Dyson DC65. You should clean this filter every three months. Now you see a blue tab between the cyclone. When you pull the blue tab, you can actually get the pre-filter. You can either see it dirty
or clean. Now I’ll tell you the process, how to clean post-filter and bin. So, how do you separate the upper part of this Dyson dustbin and the actual classical container? Just press the red button and holding your hands down. Now you can actually separate as a unit. You see a little button on the dustbin just below of the cyclone, you have to press down the button. I know initially when you see all your Dyson dirt, you just want to put it into a dishwasher or just want to let the water run over it to clean it. But not to do it, you need to have a dry cloth or a dry brush and then brush it off. Never
use water. Clean the canister upper part with water. Wherever you clean a Dyson with water, let it dry for 24 hours. It is very important that all parts of the Dyson are BONE DRY before you use your DC65 again, or else you might destroy your DC65. After 24 hours put everything back together and put it into your Dyson vacuum cleaner.

I was hoping for more. I wanted to see how to clear the cyclone under the mesh. Here is what I did - A can of condensed air did a marvelous job of cleaning all of the fine, accumulated dust under the mesh. Remove the filter first! Works wonders. This is not addressed in this video, nothing in Dyson manuals.

Happy to subscribe to these excellent and humorous gems. Sorry about the kitchen towel getting so dirty! I made sure to have a sacrificial cleaning cloth and a brush handy. Dyson's cryptic diagrams are not enough, but you made everything clear to me. Thanks!!

I am thrilled!!! A few years ago, after 10+ years, my first Dyson Animal wore out. Not satisfied with other vacuums I bought to replace my original Dyson Animal, I was fortunate to purchase a Dyson DC65. After 3 months, I cleaned the filters with ease but I wanted to take the bin off to clean. I was so excited about how easy it is to remove the bin. I love to vacuum and this vacuum is so easy to use. Thank you, Dyson for enhancing my vacuuming experience.

I did clean the cyclone 5/28. Filter too. I used the shower massage in the tub and just kept running water into it, then turning upside down, over and over until no more dirty dark water with pieces of black stuff, eventually the water was clear. Then I shook it and stood it in front of a fan on low speed over night while on a towel. Then I placed it in front of the heating vent the next morning-it is May 29th, 2019 in Illinois but sooo cold I had to put on the heat. Today, 5/30 in the am, reassembled the vacuum, turned on and viola, working fine, picking up, no problem seen.

I also used the blower to blow the excess water from the filters for a jump start on drying. And I blew the dirt from other nooks and crannies in the vacuum as well. Yay! Yay! I love blowing as much as I love sucking. I got a mini leaf blower so it is girly size and still worked

If you separate the cyclone halves (3 screws), you can absolutely clean it out with water. You need to do this to unclog all the little passages. Blow it dry with a blow gun, then let it sit for a day to dry even further. If you don't do this, and replace the motor filters every couple of years, your machine will steadily lose suction (Dyson's claims to the contrary notwithstanding).

You can use water to clean out the cyclone portion. The trick is you MUST LET IT DRY. Most people do not have the patience. It may take 48 hours or so. That is why Dyson has told their customers not to wash the cyclone. Another way to clean the cyclone is to use another vacuum that has good suction. It is possible to vacuum out most the dirt and dust that collects around and behind the screen. Also, use the vacuum on the bottom portion to remove dust. Happy vacuuming all.

The bin is clean, but I dare say if you hold the cyclone upright and strike the sides, ample dust will fall from the interior, and the fine mesh of the screen is still dirty. Dyson may claim that there is a limit of how much additional dirt will accumulate and it will not exceed harmful amounts, but I take mine apart and clean with water, and dry. The only residue will be contaminants in the water, such as calcium and iron, depending on the quality of your water. If I lived in Flint I wouldn't do it. It takes some patience and skills to deal with the two compression springs and the friction clips around the top, however. The process shown in the video complies with the manufacturers instructions, and I should think that the machine will function, as desired.

I’m back with a question. I’ve never cleaned the inner part (the one you can’t clean with water). There is crud packed on inside that I can’t get to. Is there a way to open that piece up so I can brush it? Everything else went just as you demonstrated. I hope there’s a way. I’d love to keep my Dyson a long time. I also have a cordless one that I also love. If there is a way to clean the inside part I can’t reach, I’d love a video. Maybe you’ve already done one. Thank you!

Hello Laura. I have done a video for the Dyson V10/11 which shows how to clean the inner part of these cordless vacuums: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6GkYpqjobinmc0 To open the inner workings of the DC65 is not that different. Please let me know if the video helps you. If not I might be able to do a video about the DC65. Have a wonderful day.

I totally agree with you! People really annoy me when they say dyson hoovers are a gimmick or basically not good ! What they actually mean is that they are so stupid that they don’t know how to clean there hoovers out properly? Probably more interested in looking in the mirror than actually reading the instructions for your hoover 😂

You can totally just rinse out the chamber with hot water. This allows you to get out all the dust and caked on bits. Besides, when you wash the filter you have to wait 1 day+, in that time the plastic will EASILY dry.

Uuuuuh, I have always detached the whole ‘can/ casing thing’ and clean out that upper area that you showed that was so dirty every single time that I empty it! I couldn’t imagine just letting that stuff build up! I didn’t know you even could leave it like that for any amount or extended period of time.

How do I get the odor out if I can’t use vinegar water or some other liquid cleaner? The previous owner had 3 large dogs. When I open the cyclone, my whole room is blasted w terrible odor. Even w 2 new filters, the odor comes out when vacuuming. Please, can anyone tell me how to get the odor out?

Vacuum stores will routinely disassemble the cyclone into separate pieces when servicing Dyson vacuums. They wash these separate prices with high pressure sprayer, laundry detergent, and rubbing alcohol. They then let them dry for a 24-48 hrs in front of a fan before reassembling. If you clean yours at as you already do, and it has an odor, you may need to deep clean the cyclone by taking it apart and washing the components.

Hi, thanks for this. Is this easy to do? I have cleaned mine so many times and unfortunately did run the post-filter under water because of so much fine dust. I let it dry for a few days before reassembling and it seems to work fine except it has a funny odour now. Maybe it's time to give up and get it serviced. Thoughts?

How to get to the dust on the inside of the mesh screen?
@samanthaleighanderson7621
@samanthaleighanderson7621 4 жыл бұрын
I HAVE to clean the DIRT from behind the MESH! It's accumulated lots of loose and stuck dirt. I'm glad you said no water on that part because I was about to use water. But im thinking about it again because I'm desperate. My vaccum smells like an onion because I sucked up some onion pieces when I was having a bad day. I regret that. Even if it didn't smell like an onion, all the crap behind the mesh drives me nuts and I imagine one day it will be packed full of dirty dirt. So, what the HECK CAN I DO to get it out? ?? Thanks!! Soooo much!

Jeff Hauser I flip it upside down and fill it with hot water. I shake it and then let the nastiness just poor out. I suggest doing it in the shower. You will have to do this several times. You just have to wait several days to use it again. It has to be dry before you use it again. I don't clean it this much all the time. But a few times a year. The rest of the time I do a more general clean.

Woopnik I found you very entertaining and that is half of the battle. You get the message across very well. I have had Dyson Vacuums since 1993 and every one has been washed using the shower. I have a extra long bottle brush for the hose. 1) disconnect the hose 2) Holding the two ends together fill it with hot water, but do not extend it. 3) give it a shake (using both hands) and then extend it (ensuring to keep the ends upright - it should be in an extended "U" shape); keeping it upright. Extending it helps release the dirt. 4) empty it and depending on how dirty it is, refill the now not extended hose with water and repeat the process. 5) Empty water out. if you have a large bottle brush, push it through and flush water through. NOTE: do not leave your hose in a bucket to soak. Doing this will cause stubborn dirt to not fully remove itself and it will set like cement.
