I purchased TWO TP02 based on your comparison where it shows 180 degree oscillation and it's not even close to that. When I called Dyson they confirmed that it is only 70 degrees. My bad for not checking the offical specs before purcahsing. you should be more careful with your comparisons.

Thank you for your videos and for the detailed tests that you perform. I just ordered a tp01 and was hoping to clarify something… A lot of websites claim that Dysons are not that great at purifying d/t their low CADR rating (especially 70 for tp01, which is pretty low). Dyson claims that it is an outdated test. Have you noticed in your tests that the low CADR rating of Dysons makes them inferior to other purifiers, or even plays a role?
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
In all of my Dyson tests to date I have not seen any significant correlation between CADR and performance. Dyson does tend to be on the lighter end for CADR compared to many other purifiers, but still performs great...if you put it on high and put it in a central area of your home it's going to do great. I wouldn't say CADR is totally outdated or worthless, but just because it's a little on the lower side doesn't necessarily mean the performance is going to be lacking.

What happens when the house HVAC turns on? Does dirty air get pushed into the room much faster then the units can handle?
@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
It depends on your HVAC and how dirty the bulk of the air in your home is. It will also depend on the fan speed of the Dyson. In most cases, it will certainly increase the particulate count in the room, but the Dyson should be able to keep up. Just bear in mind that turning on the HVAC, opening doors / windows, etc. all introduces new sources are particulates, which will often mean the Dyson needs to turn on / increase speed to keep air purified to the lowest levels.

very helpful review. which is correct to my expectations of this nice dyson air purifiers bcuz i notice the big difference of reducing bad smells. I have 4 in my house. one was my mistake i got the wrong one didnt read the spects. tp01 doesnt have wifi or app compatibility or auto mode. I didnt know until it was too late n didnt exchange it for tp02. So i have the other 3 are TP02 with auto mode app use n wifi which are perfect they turn on automatically when detecting a bad smell. I'm planning to get the gold oneTP09 soon. So i can put it downstairs living room the biggest room in the house. Its currently like 700$ its pricey but i know it works DYSON is very reliable best quality products out there.

I wonder why the dp04 has more airflow than the tp04. It seems logical that if the air has an easier time getting out of the machine(like the tp04) it would have more airflow. But for such a compact matching over 400 liters of air per second is amazing

At about 6 minutes you said the tp02 has both a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter, but I believe it’s just a one round HEPA filter only with no carbon filter, in this model, is that correct? When I take mine apart I can only see one round hepa one.
@ModernCastle2 жыл бұрын
It's possible you have a version that didn't include a carbon filter, but the TP02 models being manufactured now do have a carbon filter. If you go to this page - amzn.to/3ENIzKT You'll see the description: "Second layer in filter contains activated carbon to capture household odors and volatile organic compounds like paint fumes, certified asthma and allergy friendly and awarded the quiet mark accreditation" On the page you can see the interior circle of the filter has the activated carbon layer.
@Tari2 жыл бұрын
@@ModernCastle Oh I see. Thank you for this clarification. Maybe the carbon filter is built right into the HEPA filter itself and doesn’t require a second filter. It looks like a two in one set up. I wonder if there were two versions or I just didn’t know this before.

I need a recommendation on a cheaper option but just as good. I have a newborn and live with cig smokers but I dont have 500+ to drop
@ModernCastle3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the biggest recommend would be don't smoke indoors at all. If that cannot be helped, at least keep the baby in a closed room away from smoke (when smoke is happening). For the best budget friendly option I'm a big fan of Levoit. You can read all about them here - moderncastle.com/levoit-air-purifier-reviews/ For you I would recommend a Levoit Core 300 for the baby's room - amzn.to/33S4eQ6 And a Levoit Vital 100 - amzn.to/2FyzJ7i?tag=moderncastle-20 - use this one in common areas, living room, family room, etc. Basically any larger rooms where the baby spends a lot of time. If you don't mind moving the purifier around with the baby then just get a Vital 100. It covers up to 500 square feet. The Core 300 is good for around 215. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
@annawhittaker3423 жыл бұрын
@@ModernCastle sadly it's not my place to ask them not to smoke indoors cuase they are helping me out. Plan to keep her enclosed in one room mainly. Thank u for the recommendations!
@ModernCastle3 жыл бұрын
@@annawhittaker342 Well, that's a good plan then. Keeping that door closed will help. Putting a rolled up towel at the base of the door will help to better seal that area also. If it's just a small room the Core 300 should be a fine option. But nothing wrong with the Vital 100 if you want better coverage or something for the long term.

@ModernCastle4 жыл бұрын
We don't have any immediate plans to...mostly because the core technology isn't really any different compared to the other Dyson air purifiers we've tested. The only major performance difference is it's smaller and better for small to medium sized spaces (due to the air flow capacity). Beyond that, it's the same design, same filters, etc. If your purifying a space 250 square feet or less, you're probably okay with the BP01. If it's bigger than that, you may want to upgrade.
@imaaronman4 жыл бұрын
Modern Castle I guess it’s fine then because it’s for my personal bedroom. By the way, would it be correct in saying that the BP01 has an active carbon filter within the 360 HEPA filter? Or only the 04 class has active carbon filters? Because I also have a TP04 in another room but I feel like the room feels much cleaner with it. Maybe that’s just placebo but I was wondering if you would know.
