If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. kzbin.infoUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

Every six months or so, I remove my filters, covering the inside side of the filter with a plastic bag while I vacuum the outside clean of dust. This helps keep the airflow as good as possible to make the filter last as long as possible, and the bag stops it pulling dust in the other side. Hope that helps you
@Burncity104 жыл бұрын
yeh, since apparently you can't wash the filters themselves, thats a good idea to clean/vacuum the filter to make it last longer. buying a filter replacement every 6 months or even every year is annoying, but it's a requirement i guess... knowing me, i'd rather clean the filter and re-use it again and again :)
@VacTech13 жыл бұрын
I do think vacuuming off the filter every few months will help prolong filter life. However, Dyson's HEPA glass filters trap lots of dust permanently in the pleats, so they still need to be replaced as needed. They will permanently clog eventually, which will greatly reduce airflow.
@JS-fb6ww Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the only problem with your cleaning method is that the charcoal filter absorbs contaminants from the air all the time and loses its effectiveness of within a year's time.

LOVVVVVVE IT AND even where a/c has been a necessity yet have not had to install as never expected it but this magnificent machine has done such a great job! Never issues with Dyson. WISH HE MADE EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY PRINTERS. May be more expensive than the rest but will last for life as has my vacuum still going, the very first model going on bout 20 years!! I would like to know, though as want to get a second one of these purifiers what the difference/improvements may be with newer models???? i can find no information on this. ALSO about the filters where best to buy and if they are anywhere near as effective as the original. i am writing from a country where the appliance is $800 to start so the filters would be probably coupla hundred, so this info would be valuable.

Thanks for the comment! The newer models have better filters, and more "quality-of-life" features. Nice review. But around 11:50, I'm surprised you mentioned that they're not washable as a negative. There are no good air purifiers with washable filters, you cannot wash all of the particles and odors out of the filter. Also, the activated carbon loses its effectiveness at removing odors and VOCs over time. That's not something that can be washed out. What is disappointing to me however is the lack of a prefilter. Many machines will have a prefilter that can be at least vacuumed off, my air cleaner catches lots of things like pet hair on the prefilter that simply isn't worth wasting on the HEPA filter. I think this is a good fit for someone who wants a heater/fan that happens to clean the air as well along with having the cachet of being made by Dyson, however as an air purifier there are better options for this price point.

Worst and useless product for $300+. Better buy $50 hot/cool fan. Air blow is very poor. you will not feel air at 5ft distance. You have to sleep right front of it. Filter is costly too. Don’t waste your money!! This is overhyped product, not worth it.
@VacTech14 жыл бұрын
This is an expensive product and not for everyone. I disagree regarding how far it pushes the air. In the "jet focus" airflow mode, you can definitely feel it across the room (well over 5 feet), but it doesn't move as much air as a regular powerful fan. However what it does do is filter the air it pulls through it, giving it a unique edge. It's also a very effective heater during the winter. I do agree that as just a fan, there's plenty of more powerful options out there, but those fans aren't also HEPA air purifiers. The other thing is that the genuine filters are expensive, but there's lots of affordable generic filter options available for it. Thanks for the comment!

Could I use 4 of these to heat a 2 bedroom house with an open kitchen? I would love to have an army of these just running, heating the room in winter.
@VacTech14 жыл бұрын
An army certainly would, but I wouldn't use this single unit to heat more than 1 large room, or 2 smaller connected rooms. Just my opinion.
@davidthedeaf3 жыл бұрын
It can heat any rooms with enough time, but a multi room home will need 2 or more. contact Dyson to figure out how many you need.

So, this is just a purifying fan, not a replacement AC unit?
@VacTech14 жыл бұрын
Correct. It's a portable heater or a portable fan, and it's always an air purifier. It's not an air conditioner.
@endlessdreamz74044 жыл бұрын
@@VacTech1 thanks, was hopeful lol, maybe I'll get lucky and dyson will make an air conditioner also.
@DARKredDOLLAR4 жыл бұрын
@@endlessdreamz7404 air conditioning is pretty hard to achieve. You have to transfer the pulled heat somewhere.

Just wondering if anyone has had to use this for second hand smoke? We live in an apartment and the people downstairs smoke and it comes up through the floors. We have three sliding doors we can't open because the smoke comes in even stronger. A friend recommended this as she used it during bushfire season and it worked really well for her

jentothewren I’m no expert on this specific air purifier, but air purifiers with carbon filters are known to cut down on volatile organic compounds. Cigarette smoke is a volatile organic compound. I’m actually researching air purifiers because I need to keep my air clean for my bird! You need to get a purifier that can handle the amount of space in your apartment, though.

Don't buy this, Save your money so you can buy a house and get a way from the smokers.

Where did you buy the “generic” replacement filter that cost only 1/3 of Dyson’s price?

Ebay.

The filters last 3 month, Dyson say a year, that's not true. At 125 dollar a filter get ready to take your check book out, if you don't replace them every 3 month, it will stink your house
@VacTech14 жыл бұрын
To clarify, on this model, the genuine filters retail for $70. You can get generic filters for far less (around $15 now). Mileage will vary depending on room conditions, but mine lasted a year, and I think my second generic filter will too.
@bksduskmirror12504 жыл бұрын
Vac Tech Mine is a pure cool Dyson, might be good for a small room or a closet. I payed $700 for it. I would need 3 of them to do the job, but it would cost me $ 2100 plus $375 per year for filter. At that price, it's not economically smart, I can buy a $1500 air air exchanger with EPA filter that cost me $40 dollar per year for filters. Dyson is a very bad investment

Does this help with eliminating dust in a room. I find myself spending hours and hours dusting as I have poor air circulation due to my house being crammed from limited space and to many things blocking some poorly placed air vents in parts of my house.

Yes it sure does, but you're still gonna need to occasionally dust.

Does it remove the smoke odor from the room? 🙏
@VacTech13 жыл бұрын
Yes it would. If you're smoking indoors around it though, the filter life will be greatly shortened, as smoke and tar will clog the filter faster than normal.

@@VacTech1 oh ok great, how about cigarette odors, thanks
@VacTech13 жыл бұрын
@@good7415 Yes it will help with that. It won't pull cigarette smells out of carpeting or the walls, but any airborne smoke it will filter.
