I had the cordless v7 I found it alot better than the V8. The V8 is very good but having to change the head between carpets and hard floor is a bit of a pain. I preferred the V7 FOR THAT. OTHERWISE YES I'M HAPPY.

It is an after market battery, though that's not really the Dysons fault. During my run time test the vacuum fell of a ~3.5' table directly onto the battery. That fall damage caused the battery to no longer function, hence the replacement.

I have the v10 total clean. After 2 years, theres a part of the dust bin that broke off. When you empty the dust bin it will slide then it will stop and open the bin. The part that stops it broke off so now my dyson aint really sanitary. I have to use my hands now when it comes to emptying my bin. Another thing that concerned me after using my dyson for 2 years is the trigger. My dyson trigger seem to be sinking and i really have to press it hard.

If if remember correctly, the V10 Total Clean is a Costco exclusive version. And Costco has basically an infinite return policy. I would just return that and buy a non-Costco version of the V10.

my v8 has pretty weak suction, I contacted dyson and they said that is was a weaker model so be careful which model you buy. I though they are all at the same power but apparently not

Spent $400 on this V8 at the end of 2018. Went thru 2 battery replacements at $129 from Dyson. Do the math on how convenient this high maintenance vacuum will cost you in the short term. Dyson says it's normal for Ion batteries to have this kind of lifetime if used frequently and for long periods.

These types of batteries generally last quite a bit longer than that. But depending on how you're running the machine, it is possible to kill them in 2 years. In any case, I wouldn't recommend the batteries from Dyson. They are over priced. You can find 3rd party batteries for around $60 - amzn.to/3pVnRUK

Does it make a lot of noise when rolling on hardwood floor? We have tenants below us and our current vaccum drives them crazy with the noise. Not the dB level, but the rolling on the hardwood floor...

V8 for 299 is a solid price for sure. I've not heard of the "Extra" variant, but as with all variants, it's the same basic V8 in terms of function. Only difference is going to be what attachments / accessories come with it.

My v8 suction isn't that good and it spits out hard stuff sometimes (like small pebbles) not so happy about it

It's possible it's a problem with the V8, or possible the debris is just too tough. There are very few vacuums that can handles pebbles of any size.

My battery in my V8 Animal is absolute garbage. I get maybe 30 seconds of runtime on High. Maybe 2 minutes on low. I'm so disappointed. Dyson said that my warranty was up in October and there's nothing they can do. Confirmed it's a bad battery. I bought the Dyson Ball Animal 2 since my apartment was mostly carpet. Now we are moving into a new home with mostly hard floors. Considering buying the Shark IQ w/ Self Emptying bin. For the money, seems like a great robot. Whats your opinion on the Shark IQ Modern Castle? 1800sqft single level home with one dog.

Regarding the V8, you can put a new battery in it for less than $50. You can check exact prices on batteries here - amzn.to/2Xoyxg1 Here's a video on how to replace - kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6nYq2inf8t7h5o&vl=en - takes just a couple of minutes. Even if you don't want to keep your V8 you should replace the battery and sell it. Should easily go on OfferUp or Craigslist. Regarding the Shark IQ, I really wasn't impressed. It's a fine vacuum, but in general Shark's vacuums just feel several years behind the other big players out there. Roomba and Roborock are the two that stand out in my mind as miles ahead of everyone else. If self empty dust bin is important go with Roomba i7+ or S9+. My Dyson V8 will not work longer than 30 seconds on MAX even without an accessory attached. I have purchased a new battery and a new motor, but it still won't work on MAX.

If you've purchased a new motor and a new accessory I genuinely have no idea why that would be the case. Those are the only 2 components that would drive more / less run time.

@@carlaprimrose1030 Oh no no, you absolutely can use it on max power. It's just that an 8-12 min run time on max power is pretty typical. If you want a longer run time you'll need to use a lower suction power.

I recently purchased the V8 Animal. It broke after 2 days of use, and Dyson has refused to honor its guarantee.... their excuse is that I can't explain how or why it broke. That is because I simply don't know!! I am infuriated and do not recommend this brand

@@leeobrien8059 Interesting. I'm surprised that explanation wasn't enough for Dyson to honor the warranty. In any case, if you've only had it for 2 days why not just return it to the retailer? Surely product defects are covered by the policy of whatever retailer you purchased from.
