It’s not all medical - I would like to have heard Anna (at least briefly) discuss the emotional side of making decisions about feeding tubes. Do doctors really care about patients and families? Some do and some don’t in my experience - all should. That said; this is a good explanation, with data to back it up for patients, family members and providers facing these issues.

87 advanced Parkinson’s dementia patient, having trouble swallowing and the 1 day doctor wanted to put in Pegtube. We decided against and to continue to work on swallowing and speech therapy. Thank you for your video and sharing your research.

I am so sorry for your loss. You did what what you thought was best. If he was aspirating, that would not have been good either. I'm so sorry. 😪

@@12121ashmit I did the opposite with my loved one and felt awful after learning he was aspirating and I kept forcing him to eat. I'm sure your dad knew you loved him. A doc told me that it's not good for me to carry a burden like that. That I didn't make him sick. The disease did and if you did what you thought was the right thing to help him at the time, you should not carry a burden that is not yours to bear and he is right...Peace be with you. 🕊

please don't feel guilty and none of us should ever judge...it is absolutely normal to miss your dad...my husband is stage 6 and I will perhaps have to face this decision...I don't want him to suffer needlessly...he is 85...we have shared 23 yrs....he doesn't want to prolong his agony/illness if I have to make that decision...I am getting educated in re. this illness...it is such a tragic illness to witness/experience with a Loved One...sending you hugs and blessings

I'm so sorry. This is hard for an adult to deal with. I can't imagine for a 13 yrs old. This video doesn't really discuss treatments. I saw another video where they use electrolysis as a treatment. You use muscles while swallowing. I imagine their has to be some kind of exercises they could do to regenerate those muscles. I wish you the best and your dad the best. Keep searching for answers. I am too. This other video discusses the different types of dysphagia and the different exams they do and different treatments depending on the type. Hope it helps. Don't give up hope! kzbin.info/www/bejne/habJm4lqiqplhcU
