Flying Elephant is my new favorite joke card, where the whole point of its existence is to poke fun of something from the anime. Kinda like Attack The Moon. For those who don't remember, in season 1 of the original show Pegasus has a kid duel Bandit Keith and he gives the kid instructions on what to do. The kid summons Flying Elephant and that somehow causes Keith to lose right away.

Hey, Vennominaga is actually really easy to pull out...well, at least it was at the time. Step 1. Get Vennominon in the graveyard- Step 2: Set both Rise of the Snake Deityand Limit Reverse Step 3: Activate Limit Reverse at your opponent's turn End Phase. Step 4: Change Vennominon to defense position, it kills it, and allows you to activate Rise of the Rise of the Snake Deity And it doesn't need to be in a "Venom" deck. It just needs to be a reptile deck, like Aliens or something better than that.

While I do understand the classic combo, realize that the card wasn't good back in the day either, ya know? That combo, while cool, requires drawing two unsearchable trap cards and having Vennominon in grave (which is the easy part). Venom decks aside, there's not really enough of a strategy to build that combo around, even back in 2007

​@@Dzeeff Hi. I'm not saying the combo was competitive or consistent enough, but it wasn't that hard to pull out either. I mean, is just a 2-card combo which summoned an almost invincible monster with an alternative win condition. It was just an option to any reptile-heavy deck, not a win condition to build up a deck around like Exodia. The big issue was not it being hard to summon at all; it was just that reptiles were stupidly weak, with Aliens being the best option. Of course, nowdays is just too slow to be used in any consistent deck; but I just wanted to point that.

The biggest problem with Vennominaga, as a win con, is that if you can get its win con off you can/actually probably did beat your opponent to death with it.

I've pulled off the wincon twice, and I basically had to gimp myself. Vennominon is a giant beatstick. Vennominaga is a giant beatstick that requires vennominon and an unsearchable trap.

In terms of deck building, though, Vennominon Turbo, as it were, is a vastly superior deck to Vennominaga turbo. Snake Rain/w/e stack your graveyard full of reptiles, attack with the giant snake monster. It's vastly more consistent and what have you and as such is the vastly superior... Er... Casual deck. Since either strategy doesn't even register as a rogue strategy, as it were.

Vennominaga's effect is way harder to activate it than "isn't that hard to get off". Yeah, it's easy enough to inflict damage with 3 attacks, but I've never heard of anyone dealing damage with Vennominaga 3x (together with anything else they have on the field) and still not having won the duel by reducing LP to 0 anyway.

I enjoy listening to your explanations and opinions while engaging in other activities, but I sometimes find myself needing to pause or rewind the video to read a card effect I don't know because they came out after I left or even because they are very new like "Flying elephant". Wait, wouldn't Flying Elephant actually be playable in Ghostricks? You have your Elephant face down. Your opponent targets it with a card effect that would destroy it, unbeknownst of his impeding doom. You flip him face up (because you're playing Ghostricks), and if you do, it does not get destroyed and if they can't remove it that turn, you just attack them directly, thanks to your field spell (because you're playing Ghostricks) and win!

Everyone knew it was fake and I even once tore it into 5 pieces and handed it back to him when I won it in a duel. i put my vennominaga in a venom deck, its basicly annoy the opponent till i get snake rain and then limit reverse and rise of the deity together, but vennominaga just needs reptiles, you can put her in an alien deck, she doesnt need venoms (sidenote: i only have cards upto Duelist Revolution) and at that time there where only 3 cards that could stop her, lava golem, volcanic queen and zombie world(removes her attack). nowadays you can just kaiju her

The worst thing about old Exodia decks was their tendency to play Fiber Jar to keep reseting the board and the decks again and again. Also I think the first really competitive Exodia deck was the one using the infiNite draw engine with Gearfried, Royal Magic Library, and Butterfly Dagger Elms, which got that card banned in the first place.

With Flying Elephant, is it possible that the point isn't really to win with the alternate win condition, but just discourage board wipes from your opponent? I'd have to re-read the card text to see if it's just targeting effects that it's immune to, but if not I can see it being kind of nifty to normal summon that after you've managed to build a big board with special summons since the risk of a revenge kill off the Elephant counterbalances their instinct to just play a Raigeki or something. It's a super niche application and probably still isn't enough to make the card worth playing, but if I had to guess I'd say that might be why the win con effect is there, not really because they expect you to proc it.

I actually did manage to play it once. xD Of course, that was in a super slow, super casual game in which we were just looking to play decks with fun, niche/unique gameplay styles. I’d never expect to win under normal conditions of course. It’s all about special summoning the gods on the same turn.... The hardest part, though, is definitely dealing with Ra, since he can’t be special summoned. Once again, Ra showing why he’s the worst of the God Cards xD

Tbh, the best way to get it out is to mill Slifer, Obelisk, and three monsters, and use Soul Charge. Of course, good luck opening Ra, Holactie, Soul Charge, and something that'll get those monsters in grave...

You missed 'Last Turn'. Combo was: Jowgen the Spiritualist + Last Turn. Safety Features included 3x 7000lp Wall of Revealing Light, 3x Self Destruct Button, 3x Solemn Judgement. Stall + Draw was the main theme of the deck.

Exodia was actually a tier 1 strategy in 2002, alongside LaJinn beatdown. As of the release of Metal Raiders, your deck would have Sangan and Witch (pre errata), Cannon Soldier, 3x Solemn Judgment, Magician of Faith, Pot of Greed, Ultimate Offering, monster reborn, and a host of other cards...and all this from a time when the only hand disruption cards were Card Destruction, White Magical Hat, and Robbin' Goblin.

I remember I used to have a gimmicky Exodius The Ultimate Forbidden Lord "OTK" that focused on clogging up the field with useless tokens and stalling with things like a Spear Cretin loop, then used Diffusion Wave Motion to get Exodius to attack 5 times in one turn. Obviously would never be considered even slightly competitive, but was a fun experiment :)

11:15 It is nearly impossible to get off. I played a lot of the video game Yu-Gi-Oh championship 2008 and one of the things in that game is winning the game in all kinds of weird ways. Like Destiny board, wipe out with Armatile, destroying with Exodios and other such things. Venominaga was by far the hardest one to do. I had to fill my deck with cards like gift card and rain of mercy to pump up my opponent and also my own deck with release spirit to get him to survive 3 attacks. I had to pick the weakest opponent in the entire game and it felt like playing solo and like the opponent wasn't even a factor.

Exodia had WAAAY more than that one deck though, there was Heart of the Underdog combo deck to draw basically towards your pieces quickly, and there was the Butterfly Dagger - Elma / Gearfried combo that allowed you to draw your deck, and caused Elma to be banned... It also was the reason why Witch and Sangan got restricted to 1.

Dzeef, I dunno if you ever bothered brainstorming a “dumbo win” deck, but if you wanted to know, it basically revolves around, either giving it to your opponent temporarily+using dark hole/other stuff (or using that alien-looking card that swaps zones and pops stuff)then a mirror force card their board or Giving it a card/equip to allow it to attack directly.

For anyone wondering, the easiest Exodius combo in World Chalice is: 1 - The Agent of Creation - Venus and Exodius in hand. 2 - Normal Summon Venus, use eff to SS 3 Shine Balls 3 - Link away Shine Balls 4 - Shuffle Shine Balls into deck to SS Exodius 5 - Use Venus to SS Shine Balls again Essentially gives you 8 Link Materials off of two cards.

Remember doing the Venominaga challenge in WC 2008 where you duel another Venominaga deck and have to win by her effect. Had to use The Eye of Truth just to make sure my opponent's life points didn't run out.

I could at least see Flying Elephant as a single copy tech card acting as pseudo-protection for your more valuable monsters against stuff like Raigeki, by making your opponent second guess whether it's actually safe to use them, and then possibly follow up with some front row clearing cards to actually get it's effect off if they take the chance. Still wouldn't be that useful, though. If it could also trigger its effect during your turn by the use of something like Mirror Force, it might help it slightly, but not by much.

I've been liking Winners. I get it off about 1/3 of the time (a monster under Dead Heat instantly qualifies, and That Six removes the luck aspect of that card).. When it doesn't go off perfectly, it is still repeatable F.A. activations to buff your rides.

There's also the wave motion Cannon spell card. For those that don't know you basically put it on the field and every turn you add a counter to it and each turn that goes by your opponent loses a thousand life points whenever you send it to the graveyard. So if your opponent keeps that thing on the field for eight turns that means you would lose 8000 life points

9:55 perhaps you can xyz into leo, kill it off so it has no materials with a torrential or dark hole so it also hits your opponents monsters reborn it from grave, then go into the chaos version. Now the chaos version only has one material, which it can easily remove, and hopefully a clear field to attack directly. then just get to 6000 damage just by inflicting another measly 1500 to win the duel on end.

If you're playing an opponent who has single target destruction cards.. which I don't know how many of those there are anymore, you could use the Shift trap card to make flying elephant the target for it's effect. Or maybe try to chain Call of the Haunted to a Raigeki/ Dark Hole or anything similar?

I know this video is old, but another point against Vennominaga is graveyard set up. You have to make sure there's enough reptile type monster's in your GY for her to not be ran over in battle.

There is a trap strategy I can think of using flying elephant. If you put it in an amazoness deck you can use dramatic putting out flying elephant . ( Granted this is still an extremely ify strategy) it would be hilarious if it was more consistent.

I had a lot of luck with Destiny Board when I was a kid on one of the Yu-Gi-Oh games. Obviously it's really weak to removal, so I wouldn't want to try it these days, but back when there was basically only MST and some other really abd spell/trap removal it was better (not competitively viable, just better)

Exodius should have had its anime effect. It wasnt that broken by itself back then. It was all the anime support it got that made it broken, like rage of the forbidden one, or defense seal wall

I was actually suprised that vennominaga didn't catch as much criticism as I expected. But it's not that venom is bad per say, it's more that GX made a lot of archtypes that never ended up seeing support. While the venom monsters we have aren't good by any means, they fit what yugioh was trying to do, make a deck that appeared in the show, which sucks because they rarely support their "throw away" decks like venom. But I'm probably one of the few people that actually wanted to see venom get more support lol

I'd say Victory Dragon counts in the sense that you could be on the losing end of a 3 out of 5 (or longer) match and you would automatically win the match just by ending a single duel with him.

Jackpot 7 still used with dark scorpion burglars since it makes the opponent send a spell card to the grave when it deals damage so its used with token after giving your opponent dark scorpion burglars

Final countdown is great card and an alternative way to win in my opinion if you somehow manage to prevent your opponent from destroying the card and is patient enough to wait for those 20 turns then you pretty much win the game instantly the last turn so what this basically means is that your opponent has a lower chance of beating you to put that into perspective you will have to be careful so your opponent doesn't destroy the card and you also need to try and delay your opponent for that long to win so well unless you know how to be annoying you can win

Humble Cosmas that's not how final countdown works, it goes to the graveyard automatically after activation, it's not a continuous spell

scarlet night it still counts as a continuous trap card since the cards effect remains active after activation the only way to stop it would be to destroy the card before your opponent ever plays it

Exodia had a few "One turn kill" combos but those got fixed with some cards being banned or limited.

By the way, regarding the ghostrick monster, are there many others of those which allow xyz switching with any other ghostrick? If yes you you could easily setup one ghostrick, chain the xyz a few times back and forth until you have one with 8 material, switch to the one with the win condition (now at 9 mat) , activate the attach effect, it becomes 10, and win.

I think final countdown would be good if you used it with foolish burial on destiny hero dark angel and then the next turn during the standby phase place it on top and then use a gold sarchochagus on a 2500 or higher attack monster then make that not destroyable by card effects. Maybe.

You could use flying elephant in a dark world setup and then equip shooting star bow ceal. It's pretty easy to use, now that I think about it.

I just use "Exodius" to shuffle my Extra Deck monsters back to the Extra Deck, and get a monster on the field that sends monsters to the GY when it attacks, so I think of it as a pseudo-foolish burial, instead of it's win condition.

destiny board is pretty good, once you place it on the field your opponent has basically 5 turns to do something or they loose, if you are not ready for destiny board you will loose, massanger of peace is great in this deck because you can chose when to get rid of it by not playing lifepoints, you can hold it up untill the last turn and get it rid of it the turn you need that last slot open, then fill your deck with a bunch of cannot be destroyed by battle monsters and turn ending or skipping battle phase traps, as well as dark monsters like 3 mystic tomato's, sangen and couple ill omen monsters to get that destiny board in your hand as quick as possible.
