MBT is a genuinely crazy deckbuilder. From Prog Playoffs to Jank, as well as reacting to like every sealed series in KZbin, he has seen more small synergistic builds than maybe any other YugiTuber on the entire platform, and can pull playable decks from nothing. I honestly hope to see him if we get another season of pack dash, because what he could figure out is far beyond what Farfa and Gage have experience with.

MBT played incredibly well this episode. He knew that Redoer on its own wasn't a huge issue, so he played to keep specifically Perpetua off the field, which could reborn it and attach a trap or monster (whichever it needs) every turn and winning the grind game. Though it also helped that Doug loves outing his own towers for MBT.

Doug's cards plus him quite hard when summoned, and MBT can't push or risk losing his entire board while Doug pluses, so simply waiting to draw his 3 of special recipe, which is both a counter trap and a board wipe, or more rituals before committing would have let him take a lead. Even drawing his random staples like Torrential Tribute or Blazing Mirror Force would have helped as a plan B. Or you know, just push for game, but don't use the Ritual that cycles out for other rituals. That would have at least let him not lose on the spot if his push for game didn't work. It's not like he risks running out of Nouvelles that fast, he has 6 of them and Poie, which shuffles Nouvelles back into the deck for longevity.

Gage pulled a pretty crazy Melodious deck if I'm being honest. 3 Sonata, 3 Canon, 3 Soprano, 3 Score, a Bloom, an Aria, and an Elegy is enough to make a crazy deck and he got even more on top of that. Really hope he actually plays it.

Some people will say "but it doesn't have a win condition" but Aria + Elegy lock means u don't really need one. You can just take your time while your opponent struggles to out anything edit: for some reason i can't make another reply so I'll just say here that while Joseph currently struggles to out Diva, Doug has a decent number of ways to clear it, some of which are searchable

I think this season makes a good case for why the person who goes 2-0 shouldn't get the best reward, as counterintuitive as that is. It just snowballs way too quickly and makes it so there's too many power cards to ban when one player just gets to add a UR of their choice to their collection every week (I commented this before watching).

I agree with this the person winning shouldn't be getting the reward. Especially since the ban lists is every 5 episodes, it gives them a higher chance of building a second deck while already dominating with there current deck, Gage now has multiple full powered decks to fall back on after the banlist while the other 2 have already running on scraps thus the cycle continues.

I disagree, giving rewards is better for the series as people actually trying to win. Plus having a UR craft doesn't guarantee you can craft a crazy card if you pull garbage secret pack. Ultimately everything comes down to luck. Watch the stream and see where they are at now, to understand what I mean.

Joke's aside though, considering Doug has played nothing but Baxia control with morphtronic lantern in his deck for the last 3 episodes and only pulled a playable strategy this episode, the fact he didn't go 0-8 is actually amazing.

The reason for the interaction between the Time Thief trapmonster and the Labrynth furniture is because the furnitures only need to see a "monster" leave the field, not a "monster card"; if it were the latter, they would trigger if you popped pendulum scales.

I actually think mbt is completely right on his takes about the format here, even if hes a snide ass about it. Gage is commanding several strategies that, at base, require you to bring a deck capable of dealing with either diagram or redoer, and the only option available to him is labrynth furniture discard caitsith or to outvalue him like he did game one with both caitsith and scissors. Doug's nouvelle deck was cool, and idk what else he could've brought, but it does not have to capacity to deal with the consistency and power of either of gage's strategies as displayed by his inability to activate cards during their first game. The fact that gage also has windwitch, a deck he is already fluent in, as well as melodious, a deck that even without the new support was very capable of spamming the board with a link 2 SR(that he pulled btw) that summons two melodious from deck, and aria, a common that prevents your opponent from interacting with any of your monsters, while mbt's reserves contains the pile of bad kashtiras and unicorn, and Doug's reserves contains the heavily banned wyrm pile, i have no idea how they are going to come back from this other than pulling from magical christmas land. I do really want to see doug win this season, especially considering both of his competitors have already won a season, but he's going to have to pull a constructed list to make it happen.

I get that the variance is part of the fun, but watching gage pull playable near constructed decks every episode, and watching mbt and doug have to go several weeks carefully gathering the pieces of a playable deck only to get it immediately banned is slightly painful to watch. In dougs favor though, there really isn't a better way to account for that. Sometimes you just never pull a common.

@@uuh4yj43 the shorter banlist schedule is a necessary evil because the alternative is that one player steamrolls when they inevitably pull a constructed strategy. Gage's decks are strong, but they're strong because he pulled the individual cards that keep the archetypes together. Increasing the time between bans will lead to stale repetitive videos, something that we have seen in the past (see season 5 with mathmech striker and labrynth) i think doug has done a really great job with this iteration of the series, but gage high rolled and is now dominating, and there's no change you can make to the rules that would make sense if you wanted a more even format.

@@uuh4yj43 i think the shorter ban schedule is a better overall addition to the series, it gives less time for the dominant player to put a new strategy together in time for the next banlist while also allowing the losing players to sandbag right before the banlist (like MBT did in this episode with kashtira). If it was still a 5-episode banlist, MBT would've had to show his full kash list in hope of getting another win before the new banlist (because sandbagging 2 episodes in a row is lame and unenjoyable for the viewers).

Some ideas for the wheel, I don't know how good they would be : -You can open 15 Selection Packs instead of Secret Packs (this week only), this gets some super new cards into the show. -Craft x amount of cards that are NOT in a Secret Pack, this should help some packs where some support simply wasn't added to the pack. (Example Reptilianne Coatl is not in Reptilianne Pack, for reasons)

Random thought to help limit the massive leads people can get in saga. What if the Pack Dash system is in place where if someone goes two straight weeks undefeated the other players get to hit only one card out that undefeated players collection. A ban might be a bit much if the ban list follows within a week or two, but maybe a limit to hit consistency wouldn’t kill the deck of the person who’s in the lead, but maybe help keep the series more neck and neck.

I don't think the ritual deck is worth playing without the level 5 and the field spell. You only need one of each but they are super important 3, 5, and 6 are the most important ritual monsters. The rest you can drop or replace with filler. One and two are only in the deck so that you can search them out alongside the ritual spell.

Do we need rather than Bans and Limits, have Bans and Culling? Where a culling rather than limits to 1, removes 1 from the card pool. So a 3 of has the 3rd copy removed, pulled 2 of a 3 of you now can only use 1. If you have 1 of's you need to have at least 2 in the collection to use it or it's equivalent to a ban. Problem with that is some cards they've pulled like 5+ copies of, so a culling is useless, unless you mean adding semi limited where you can only play 2 copies of a card, The problem there is that the number of cards that are hindered by that is smaller than the number that work at 1-2

I wonder if a version of the win/loss reward system that gives losing players more consistency in their pulls might help with the problem of getting stuck on an archetype. Like we see in this episode how the pulls can vary widely from person to person. This can cause stagnation, and stagnation usually means winners keep winning. To keep deckbuilding fresh and competitive, it seems like you'd want to enable losing players to build new decks more consistently. One way to do this could be setting a minimum number of holos the player can get, allowing them to craft or open packs until reaching that threshold. For example, you could say that if you got less than 1 in-pack ultra and 3 in-pack supers, you could craft or open packs until you make up the difference. This would increase consistency for the losing player, but admittedly could have unintended consequences, such as incentivizing pulling a different 5 packs from your 10 so you can craft what you want, or going into different or riskier packs that can better take advantage of this reward structure. Any change will have trade offs or require additional changes to mitigate effects, but its possible that such difference could also make previously weak play patterns stronger in beneficial ways..
