I think tthere are two ways to see it. Either MBT is the hot-headed protagonist and Doug is the comic relief, a la Sonic and Knuckles, or Doug is the underdog protag and MBT is the anti-hero, a la Sonic and Shadow. Either way, Gage is eggman.

Little funny as to why no one else has commented on this, but in the Doug vs Gage game we saw the option for double Draco Berserker of the Tenyi (which would instantly have shut down an spell/trap masterpiece play) and instead got IP for a indestructible berserker wasn't prefired and instead of a monster on eff banish got a sinister. With three cards in hand, it really doesn't seem like it would matter as double draco berserker of the tenyi would A: Kill any masterpiece attempts as not only are those monsters 3000 (the og one was even higher) but to summon masterpiece with a monster it would take too long or a monster effect, and thus even if a masterpiece was summoned it would effectively pop one and then instantly get banished. Really irked me for some reason in terms of misplays of all saga 7, no hate to Mr. Not Activate Berserker though, just that we all are collectively not putting enough respect on Draco Berserker's name.

It's not even this season. Gage had multiple heinously crafted decks that relied on drawing like 2 exact 1-ofs to do more than normal summon pass in previous seasons. He'd just get those impossible hands at statistically improbable rates

Here's the thing: deal with it. It's literally that simple. There was a time when we knew and understood that our card draw was random and that sometimes we could just brick and that's just how it goes. We've lost that in the modern age where half of the cards are a 1 card combo all on their own and the rest still play extremely well together to special summon themselves for free so you can make ED plays while floating into even more cards. In other words, these days all of this emphasis on consistency has made us forget that *LUCK* is an integral part of every card game. There isn't a single TCG without it. And yet despite that, you're still expected to play as well as you possibly can. MBT got greedy with it because he was malding so hard and he got punished for it. Gage barely had any cards left in hand so MBT could have taken it slow and played around the battle traps that this format has *always* been fraught with, but instead he dove right into that mirror force and suffered the consequences.
