Why DZO's Probe Zoom lens is a game changer!?

Great review. As somebody who owns the Pro2be lenses, I was interested to see the tradeoffs with the zoom lenses. They zooms look like a better option, although the reduced length will be annoying in some situations. I'm really surprised that the transmission is maintained through the zoom range as I would have expected that the physics of a zoom probe would act like an adjustable teleconverter and cause a loss of transmission at the tele end.

Yep,just like Laowa's zoom lens has a non-constant aperture but is labeled as constant,but I think DZO does not have this problem yet.

one other point, at 3:36 the "dismantling" of these groups would be, just like some Leica R tele lenses of the past, for making it compact enough to put in the storage case, same for tele lenses for 135's the lens hood is reversable, so you save space when packed up. Also for servicing, as to clean it, having it 'split' means you just dismantle the section required to get to that lens group, or to service the aperture blades, without such a large object in the vice, or jig.

Small correction of a detail: the lens doesn't have pitch 0.8 gears, it has mod 0.8 gears which is close to pitch 32.

I have a mobile with a oled screen with 100% dci-p3 converge, the colors through this lens or with your editing perhaps, looks more life like than they have ever looked, the sharpness, the contrast and that's beautiful. 🙌

I can see that Laowa is worrying to death that they even declare a same probe zoom which plan in Q2 just for competing ??? It must be kidding me, maybe Laowa just finished the PPT of this project and rushed to declare... I must say i don't trust the quality of Laowa probe zoom in this case. I bought 3 Laowa probes, the build-up quality of all 3 lenses are very unify s**ty, no need to mention in this situation....
