The right hand NEVER comes off the power levers when in tension on the catapult. Hence the left handed salute.

@@raixbox360 the copilot only salutes if the shooter is on the his side of the aircraft. The shooters have a very difficult time seeing cross-cockpit through the tinting of the glass.

Can't take the right hand off the power levers in tension. Standard procedure on a Catapult to salute with the left hand if the Shooter is on the left side of the aircraft.
