Impressive tour and how well you map out and plan your stops. I'm considering maybe getting into e-biking after viewing your channel. I have a mountain bike but the motor assist and added speed are nice to covering more distance.

Thank you! It's addicting! :)

Plowing through you Denver adventure again. Easier to watch than you ride for sure. Becoming inspired. Have you have an equipment video for aspiring long distance riders?

Thanks for the effort you put into making these videos. I plan on watching all of your videos. I want to do a cross country trip myself. Do you have a frequently asked questions link? I know you probably get the same questions a lot.

These are great. I'm glad I found them. So simple and not pretentious -- and yet I keep wanting to watch the next one when the current one ends. I found you because I was interested in the concept of a "long range e-bike". I'd love to know more about the technical specifics - especially about how you "researched and built" your own battery. I have a 2002 GEM car that I'd like to build a battery for sooner or later -- and of course, I'm interested in e-bikes. I made my channel "Ordinary Electric" (no videos yet - but a year of FB posts) to explore the thought that ordinary people can benefit from electric vehicles without spending tons of money. You clearly are benefiting, and so are we from watching you.

Very cool! Glad you found it. I plan on doing a more in depth video on the bike and battery.

Great video. I am having my mountain bike converted to an Ebike and I am excited about riding again. One thing that I would appreciate is video of the restaurants and local breweries

Are you pedaling or are you letting the bike battery do all of the work? Just curious. Also if you're not peddling, wouldn't a scooter with a seat be more comfortable or something like that? Last I road a bike my butt was sore for 2 days and I only went a mile, I can only imagine going that far.
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
Pedaling with the assist. Not sure about comfort as 8-10 hours on anything isn’t fun!

Brian what is the weight on the 52 amp hour battery and also on the 15 amp charger you use
@bikingbrian Жыл бұрын
Like 25 lbs for the battery and maybe 2lbs for the charger

Regarding keeping the bike in the room (very necessary in my opinion, if you wish to keep it!) Second - chain lubricant?
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
For sure! I was using Rock n roll chain lube.

i just bought a retrospect atlas and put a 48v 750w bafang mid mount.how many miles do you get on yours.i plan on doing the BAK IN KANSAS this june then hop over to the Katy trail w to e and flip and come back to KC.
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the battery capacity and how much power you are consuming, but the one I built at 52v 50ah gets me about 120 miles at 20mph avg on varying terrain.
@SuperJohnfoster2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to bother you Brian but what do you think about the difference between tsdz2 vs bafang motors for touring. I am going to build a bike
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I have only used the bbso2 and at one point I had a Magic Pie hub motor that failed once it got submerged. :)

impressive performance from the bike. do you pedal the thing at all? it makes it seem so easy.
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use the pedal assist to just supply more power than what I am putting down so yes. I found however when coasting for longer periods of time though I will often use the throttle so I don't waste energy losing speed and having to re-gain it.
@stephenmorton80172 жыл бұрын
@@bikingbrian I thought you peddled it having watched all your other videos and see what you're capable of. I wonder if your bike can make use of regenerative brakes? You're really making this mode of transportation look viable for touring. Kudos.

On day four u rode 123 miles! Do you have two batteries??

Just one very large battery. 50ah (2600 watt-hours) about 115-150 mile range. Thanks for watching!

That map that shows where you're traveling that yellow line how do you do that
@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
It’s an app called Relive that uses the existing GPS ride file to creat the animation.

@bikingbrian2 жыл бұрын
I use flat pedals on all my bikes except my carbon bike. I find that I’m not really missing any power climbing and it’s so much easier to wear regular shoes and walk around. I still bring a pair of sandals for in camp.
