This guy is knowledgeable he needs to keep the camera on what he’s doing with his hands and wires you can’t see what he’s doing but you can hear him talking

I just tested a controller that was only making the lights go round once like that. So I connected the phase wires to a motor held in a vice, and it worked fine - kept running continuously 👍. I have also had those lights going round continuously with different controllers, but it seems like if they go round at least once, the controller is good.

i just bought one of these testers off ebay paid near twenty pounds and the wise guy sent a cheap one and not the one in his photos so it’s going back. When i get a tester like you are using i will put a few controllers on test and motors and come back to you with a result. Why not test the controller with multimeter

There are hundreds of these tester gadgets all over Amazon and Ebay and all the reviews say they are rubbish. If you can't have confidence in the tester, they are not worth buying. I finally took my Chinese eBike to a repair shop and paid an extortionate price to get it fixed. So many of us are beginning to discover the folly of buying a Chinese eBike. Because they will almost certainly go wrong, sooner or later and are an absolute nightmare to get fixed. If buying a Chinese eBike doesn't put you off buying Chinese products... nothing will.

You are just partly right. All that e-bike stuff is mostly made in China. Second where you are wrong is that Chinese e-bikes are quite cheaper and quite simpler with not so much branded parts which you can only buy from authorized dealers by very high prices (example: Yamaha male and female charging connectors). All that said I think Chinese is much simpler and cheaper than branded in terms of repair. While branded might be better, you must get back for quite a sum of money when you try to repair it. Other thing I mostly do because of price difference when I get some branded e bike to repair: I scrap all branded parts and install Chinese. All in all branded means expensive and Chinese means cheap.

@@milsiart4976 It doesn't matter if you buy branded, or unbranded. In the two years I have owned my eBike, it has been used for two, or maybe three weeks. Certainly no more than that. All it has ever done, is clutter up the hallway waiting for me to find the time to fix it. I've put it on eBay four times and all I ever get is people offering me bird-seed-money for it, which is an insult. I shall probably leave it somewhere so some clever dick can steal it. Never again. eBikes are just too much trouble.

Bafang is one of the largest ebike motor manufacturers and it's a Chinese company. It makes a reliable motor for mid-engine and rear hub ebikes. Good as any of the competitors out there. A "Chinese" ebike is a rather imprecise term. Are you talking about wiring, controller, hall sensor, ebike frame, or some specific "Chinese" component? I ride a Bafang mid-engine and all the Bafang hardware can be replaced separately if necessary. Batteries can be problematic, so I would buy local since that is one of more expensive components on an ebike.

@@nathangant7636 I had my eBike for 2 years, and it's no exaggeration to say in that time I used it just two weeks. I spent two years trying to fix it. I put it on eBay three times and it never sold. Not even any bids. Buyers know you cannot get them fixed. In the end I gave it away just to get rid of the damn thing. Never ever again.

Great video. Having similar issues. Question…when you are checking the 5v circle lights, what is connected to your testing device? Kinda hard to see from angle of video. What exactly is connected to what? And is your ebike battery connected to your controller at all? Great video, just hard to see what you connected/disconnected after throttle test. Great video. Hope you can help. Still tryna figure out how to make 5v circle lights indicate. /Bklyn👑

I really don't know Tex!?! I had the bike apart after I tested everything to see if I could find the issue. I decided to just go ahead and order a new controller from Evelbike.com. The direct replacement controller cost more than a newer, better version that has bluetooth capability so I went with the newer, cheaper one. But its a different size so it also required a new battery box housing to accommodate everything fitting in the frame. While waiting for the new parts to arrive I put the bike back together just to see and to my confusion it's been working perfectly since!?! So the new controller and battery box are on the shelf and waiting.

Good video! Question: I have a 1000 watt Ecotric Hammer, 48 Volt, I want to use a 52 volt battery with. Is there any reason why the 48 volt controller would be damaged by this? My 48 volt battery puts out 51+ volts when it is fully charged... Why such a gray area? I don't see any 52 volt controllers for sale, but everyone is upgrading to widely available 52 volt batteries. What do you think? Thanks.

It shouldn't be a problem brother most of those 48-volt rated controllers go up to 60 volts I use a 52-V battery with my mine fully charged 58 volts

No, I constantly up 48v bikes to 52v, it is literally just 1 cell higher, never had a problem, as well as 60v to 64v (16s to 17s)

I can’t tell what you’re hooking the wires up to. I appreciate the video, there’s no point in buying an Ebike if there isn’t a way to learn how to fix it. Thanks anyway

My controller has 6 wires. The white one. What would it be used for ? I read that it is a speed sensor or a thermal sensor. Is there any way to know without the tester ?

Did you figured out the problem? I've got some similar I think... when I turn the throttle the paired led's around the blinking 5V led do only one round and then stop... can you tell me what parts I must check on the controller?
@hal109
@hal109 4 жыл бұрын
Mine only does one go-around, and I know the controller is good, so I think that's the way it works. There's another video where the LED's spin contnuously, but I think that guy is blipping the throttle. I can make mine spin like that when I do that, If I mix the phase connections, yellow=green, instead of yellow-yellow, the pattern changes. Cool, but meaningless.

Have you got a new controller yet for your eBay? are you up and running again? I just watch this interesting video from Andy Kirby about his batteries. it might interest you because he has the same bike as you. I believe I've seen some evidence you may have watched his channel before and commented. Check out his video on his batteries that he's been using for about a year: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ7Zi5aIfM2dkM0

These testers have generic connectors. The No.1 issue is making the appropriate adapters/cables for connection. That would be an informative video, not watching led lights..🤣🤣
