What an excellent video. Thank you! I live in the north of England, and spent many happy childhood years playing with diesel engines in free-flight models. I loved the simplicity and being able to adjust the power by reducing the compression more and more till the engine was only just running. A quietly burbling diesel engine swinging a ridiculously big propeller on a calm summer evening is a wonderful thing. 😁 When I was older I tried Cox glow-engines, but the shrill screaming really annoyed me. What a noise! I then moved on to RC planes with ordinary 2 and then 4-stroke glow motors. I loved the big Saitos. So calm and quiet... Now that the authorities here in the UK have introduced 'drone laws' that require RC modellers to register and pay an annual fee if they want to fly models heavier than 250g, I've stopped flying large planes. (I refuse to pay an unfair tax on my beloved hobby!) I've returned to sub-250g free-flight planes (which don't need registering), powered once again by diesels, only now I can fit them with lightweight modern RC gear as well. It's great fun! Thanks for this video. It made me smile. Every aeromodeller should experience a little diesel engine at least once - the pleasure, the noise, and the smell of the fuel is something that stays with you forever.

Good video. I collected one of these same engines a few years back. I have not run it yet. Sounds pretty cool.

Mine has a sprung loaded device on top of the fuel tank which will stop the engine if you pull it. Check out Brian Cox's video of the ED Competition Special. What size prop were you using?

very nice video ! by the waqy, those bigger diesels, once they run in wrong direction, i found out if u tip on the front of the crankshaft or the spinner , with a 1 in a 10 chance the engine will change direction ! the smaller ones are easier to Lenk Um , i just touch the spinner a little with my finger tip and if u touch it at the right moment ( this needs to be guessed ) it quicky spins in the right way !

So according to you the 1cc bee mk 1 is 1cc ? So how come the ed be mk 2 isn’t 2cc ? Me thinks you are mixed up with your analogy !

@@ВОВКА-п2в not necessarily when I do it to my diesels I find the engine is perfectly primed to start up again. I never find it to be flooded and even then diesels like being quite flooded to start.
