So I did this exact swap and actually your video is what I went off to do it. I have a 2002 Silverado 2500hd and had this same exact issue when I was done. Compressor never cycled off low pressure. Found that same fourm and ran that wire from low pressure switch back to pcm and it worked perfectly. 99-02 are all wired the same so they all will have this no cycle issue if you don’t connect the low pressure switch according to that diagram. Great video and glad you fixed yours as well!

I also have a 2002 2500hd. I put the bp sensor as well. My tuner had the serial cycling and it was working, but my AC was freezing over. I did the c2-55 swap and hooked c2-17 wire up to the black wire on the plug at the accumulator but now my AC doesn’t come on at all. Took the truck back to the tuner had him change it to analog setting and also tried analog cycling also, neither worked. Any ideas?

Great vid! I’m doing this swap now on my 2002 Silverado. Did you pin wire 33 on the red connector? I am using a factory Efan harness I grabbed from a junkyard. Well done covering the steps on the install video. On HP tuner, is there an option to run only one fan when you turn on the ac? Fan one seemed to do a pretty good job of keeping the coolant temp steady, even at idle in the garage. I would think, driving down the road at speed and the first fan on, you wouldn’t need to run the second fan to keep the ac blowing cold. I’ve been working on these trucks for 20 years and 200 degrees, second fan on, seems a little low. I live in the East Bay Area where we get 100+ summer days and my ‘01 Silverado sits steady 200 degrees operating temp. I plan to upgrade my truck to electric fans, I’m aiming to set the second fan to come on at 205 degrees. My truck only has 83k miles on it and the oil stays gold, very healthy engine. Iron blocks need more heat to get everything sealed up tight, if the block was aluminum I’d be keeping the temps lower, as I do with my ‘17 Chevy SS.
@CheeHooGarage
@CheeHooGarage Жыл бұрын
200 is low. The factory settings are 205 for fan 2. When I had it set to 205, I'm pretty sure it never came on. I set it to 200 just so I could verify it actually working. I'm probably going to change it back to 205, but that's what I was trying to prove to the guys that wire fan 2 directly to the clutch, it's really overkill.

@@codygentry9472 in my opinion... I think with the fans on at what ever temperature you set, the ac would work just fine. If you think about the clutch fan, it doesn't adjust at all to ac. @@CheeHooGarage ok. Explanation for the fixed and variable system lies in the orifice tube. Around 01 they switched to the larger style orifice tube for better refrigerant flow. The bigger fixed orifice tube (17mm) has a fixed flow of refrigerant. While the smaller orifice tube (13mm) is a variable flow, which adjusts the flow of refrigerant to help with cooling at idle speeds. The smaller (13mm) orifice tube also comes in a fixed flow as well. They came out with the smaller (13mm) variable flow orifice tube as an upgrade for the smaller orifice tube system before they just decided to finally switch to the bigger (17mm) orifice tube for better flow to help with low speed cooling. A possible solution would be to find and replace your ac liquid line with one that uses the smaller (13mm) orifice tube and use a variable flow orifice tube. That way it'll work with the analog settings without having to do the extra wiring

Hey bro I’m back to comment hope you can answer my question, so I did everything you explained on the video and I though it was working because I did it on the winter I was having issues with my heater the ac compressor was engaged all the time and was not letting hot air to get into the truck because the accumulator was frozen, so I did what you explained on this video and my heater was working great, now this summer my ac compressor was not engaging so I revert what I did and the compressor started to work again, but now my problem is that the accumulator is not getting frozen it is the evaporator inside the cab that’s it getting frozen and after 30 minutes of driving I’m not getting cold air I guess the frozen evaporator is not letting the air go through, my compressor is engage all the time is not turning off at all is there any reason why this is not working for me? You said you did everything I did and it WAS working. Then the compressor wasn't coming on so you "revert" what you did. I would change the pressure switch on the accumulator. Right now it's working because it's not even looking at the pressure switch. That's why it doesn't cycle off

On my 01 Silverado z71 I done the swap, with radiator fans, harness, fuses and all out of a 07 truck, took it and had them turned on and it done great for a year, then my AC comp started roaring, I done without ac for a year, then took it to an AC shop and had the compressor and system completely drained, changed, swapped, $600 worth of parts later and $200 labor, they can’t get the fans to come on and keep the pressure down on AC system, it built to 450psi, high is 300psi, he called n told me that’s what burnt up the first compressor and will burn out the new one too if ran like that. So now I’m on here trying to find and figure out a solution, I saw another posted video where a guy had the same problem I have with his and he simply jumped pin 86 on the fan relay to pin 86 on the A/C comp, so that when the a/c comp kicked on so did the fans automatically, now if that still allows the freeze up problem, wasn’t mentioned. I’m going to try that method as it seems the easiest to start with, and I don’t have the software or tuner that you have.

I have a question. When you did the BP swap did you leave the old switch plugged into the old harness and just leave it to the side somewhere? I’m trying to solve why my AC won’t come on now after doing what you did on my 02 Silverado.

i did the efan swap, AC never worked to begin with when i evaced , vacuumed, checked for leaks and filled the system etc etc and THEN installed the bp automotive kit / tune to analog thinking this would fix my issue . troubleshooted, wiring is fine. found out i can only request ac sig manually with VCM scanner and ac works really good. any idea what it could be? im gonna do this method and hopefully this fixes my problem

@@chinogodinezthe problem ended up being the sensor at the back of the compressor. When you get a new compressor, i believe your supposed to install the new high pressure cutoff switch ( Not the recirculating sensor in the front ) before installing the compressor to the engine. But since i already had it mounted and filled up i did not want to evacuate anymore, so what i simply did was cut the wire harness connector to the switch and connected those cut wires with a butt connector. Now the AC works without me having to manually switch the compressor clutch with vcm scanner. Hope this helps out !!

I did the efan conversion on 2000 Silverado 4.3 to 6.0 swap. Using the bp automotive upgrade. Removed red 33 auto recirculate pin from pcm and put blue wire from fan harness there. Switched it to #2 fan and analog. Charged my ac today and my compressor will not engage unless I jump the relay at under hood fuse box. Have tried jumping low side switch. Any idea what’s wrong? Also my harness is from a 2001 Tahoe and it doesn’t have a pigtail for the cutout switch on the back of the compressor. Pcm came from a 2002 silverado 2500hd and I don’t know if it had the cutout switch on back of compressor. Could my pcm be not grounding the 12v request because of the absent cutout switch? Is there a way to bypass that in the pcm?

There is a switch in the back of the compressor. Some have it, some don’t. I think it’s a high pressure shut off switch incase head pressure gets too high. Can’t really find anything online as to which models have it and which ones don’t.

Cool to find this video..i have an 00 Tahoe and i had to upgrade my computer to an 0411 PCM..This switch should give you control of the ac fan with ac pressure..the fan shouldnt just come on because the ac is cycling. You should be looking at ac pressures not whether the ac is cycling or not. If you have constant fan on condition you need to upgrade your PCM..I will figure this out so thanks for pointing out it exist..
