Why not add a simple current sensor to it, let the radio (or the sensor) calculate consumption, and get rid of the guesswork of timers? I have my radio do a voice callout every 500mAh used. Voltage monitoring is too dependent on battery load, it will give you a distorted picture (voltage sags at high current draw). You would have to throttle down for 5 seconds to get a more realistic measurement of the remaining capacity.
@RCnurse
@RCnurse 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have the voltage sensors I need to install. But I don't fly longer than 3:30 now. I just pushed it way too far this flight. But it's not an issue anymore, live and learn! I do have voltage callouts on my spectrum batteries as well.
@phaedradg
@phaedradg 2 жыл бұрын
@@RCnurse Current sensing is way better than voltage, as the measurement isn't influenced negatively by the current being drawn. Using voltage to determine remaining capacity only works accurately with zero current. Ever since I stopped using timers,, I've had longer flights and zero risk of LVC. I do use timers, but only as a backup and to get an idea of actual flight times. And when you go through the real-life tests of battery brands, you will notice that Spektrum batteries are not really fit to be used for EDFs, as their actual c-rating is a lot lower than advertised...their 100C batteries are in reality only about 20C. They are about fine for prop planes, but they won't give you the required performance for EDFs. In the US, look for the SMC batteries, they are among the best performers.
@RCnurse
@RCnurse 2 жыл бұрын
@@phaedradg dang, I'll have to set my transmitter up for current sensing. I did notice voltage callouts aren't accurate while I'm on the throttle. I appreciate the advice! That's what I like about this community, help isn't far:)😁😁

@@RCnurse how? Youre not even youtube famous. I have no problem with flying on a road. In fact find it will make you a better pilot and do not support anything that has to do with AMA. Hey yes sorry for the misshapen bud , we all have been there , basically bad area of judgment to fly in public area open road , will have you hung up in making more of twisted up last minute arguing with self decisions is what that was all about . Nothing more , lol we would think the people driving understands the jet is in its last seconds of battery power 🤣 ... than we get frustrated because we argue in our brain when we remember that the jet can't scram at the cars and tell them that there in the way when we fight to remember that we're flying in there travel path 🤣🤣🤣 and there path isn't made to share with the jets 🤣🤣🤣 BUT WE FLY THERE REGARDLESS 🤣🤣🤣 . Get off safe. Never ever use it. Set your damn timer to count down and let you know the time every 30 seconds. With these new spectrum powered eflite jets. When the battery gets too low to make power. It will cut the motor. You still have power to control the aircraft. You shouldnt be anywhere but over the runway when your battery dies anyways. This is what im talking about where i have a problem with you using safe. You dont have the skill to fly with this caliber of aircraft. Youre going to hurt someone and draw even more regulation to an already dying sport. You need someone that learned the old fashioned way to teach you how to fly and you need to be on the simulator alot more than you have been. I fly everything. From 10 foot wingspan giant scale to umx airplanes. I learned on nitro planes and used to think it was fun to fly until the tank ran dry. Still to this day i purposefully fill the tank quarter way so that im surprised by the engine running out of fuel so i can perfect my dead stick landings. I have aircraft that fly over 200mph and the only way you can land them is by cutting the engine and bleeding your speed before lining up. You deed alot of money to do what youre doing or you will wind up losing interest in the hobby. I dont mean to attack you or make fun of you in any way. Thats not what im doing. Im trying to make it very clear that safe will never ever let you become an rc pilot. You will never progress or be able to fly anything but over priced foam that eflite decides to trickle out to you. I want you to be the best pilot you can be and that goes for all RC pilots tgat are left or are just coming into this hobby. You obviously have the balls to be great but youll never even be able to find out if you have the skill with the crutch of safe. .
@RCnurse
@RCnurse 3 жыл бұрын
It sure seems like it. Also Safe has nothing to do with flight times and battery voltage. I already set my timer, but you'd know that already if you watched the video. I already knew I had to land and I had cars coming, but you'd know that of you watched the video. Normally I don't respond to comments like this but I need you to realize that I've already taken all of these factors into consideration.
