Really appreciate you showing the struggles of gusty, cross wind landings and some of the not-so pretty aspects of flying close to home. I've had wind change mid flight after taking off from one imperfectly paved parking lot, forcing me to land on an imperfect bike path nearby, in order to save my planes. It's never pretty. But, as long as I don't need to order replacement parts after a day of flying, I call it a victory! Thanks, guys 👍

100% this is part of the hobby, and if you see some jack-hole flying 100% perfectly, like the guys at the main line at Nall - you will feel like you're got no place in the hobby - which couldn't be further from the truth!!!!!! - nobody starts GOOD...even the kids that are just "naturals" like Luca from Germany (one of the best pilots in the world - started flying at 6 years old) he too had to learn, and always building skills with EVERY flight. Just plan to learn a little from EVERY flight. Don't waste a bad situation - GOD KNOWS you will run into them. Take full advantage and learn a little each time.

damn, still the best camera crew in rc aviation. I watch a lot of youtube rc plane videos and most can't keep the plane in the center of the shot. I used to be a cameraman and side to side high speed passes are harder the closer they are to the camera and she handles it with ease. oh yah, your a pretty good pilot too. lol I've learned more about rc planes and setup from you then anyone else over the last few years. thank you, keep up the great work, both of you.

There’s something about seeing the real life planes, then flying the RC version. I crewed F-15’s & F-16’s waaaaay back in the 80’s. Was stationed at Nellis for several years and watched the “Thunder Chickens” all the time. BTW the term “Thunder Chicken” is used as a term of endearment used by those of us who crewed them 😉

I don't know, since our grass isn't groomed smooth enough for that sort of plane, to be frank, but I'm working on it ;)

Can the 80 mm be flown off of grass? I know the 70 is horrible on grass.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 5 ай бұрын
It would be HARD. These F-16's have the tipsy tri-cycle issues, and grass doesn't help.

You can do it, especially if you get your battery back farther for a more tail heavy CG.

I have question Brian . My 2200mah lipo battery [ new ] i charged it about 3 weeks ago and i can't go flying till the end of June. When i do . Do i charge it again or is it ok to use?
@danielcowdin9202
@danielcowdin9202 6 ай бұрын
Do not leave li-po batteries fully charged.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 6 ай бұрын
It's best to discharge your lipo to about 3.8VDC or so...this is where the CHEMISTRY is the "safest" so it's not so dead that it can't be charged, but it's not chemically unstable. If you can't stay on top of the lipo's (like I couldn't) get SMART ones, and you don't have to do it. It's AUTOMATIC ;) Ohhhh yeah! Yes, they are more expensive, but so is a new house after a fire - SMART will help dramatically, reducing the risk of fire, but there is still some risk, especially while charging and after crashes. Best to play it safe. If you CAN'T make mechanical separation from your batteries and your home (like in cinder blocks or other lipo-safe bags if you don't have a ton of them yet)

So this would be a logical step up after the Habu?
@Dangerousrobb
@Dangerousrobb 6 ай бұрын
I did it. Its a steepish step, but if you really practice and get comfortable going fast this jet is great. The only bad tendency this jet has is tipping the wings when you’re on the ground because of the narrow gear. Otherwise its very tough to get it to act up, especially if you push the CG back a little bit. Id say go for it

As3x on UMX planes is pure bull. I just got my brand new tte umx, and only a month into it, the left wing servo is fluttering. I never got it wet or damaged it in ANY WAY. I'm the same person who just lost my umx conscendo to a fluttering servo, too. I am soooooooo DONE with this. Is there ANY way to disable as3x?
@Kbeezzy23
@Kbeezzy23 5 ай бұрын
The as3x makes the biggest difference on the smaller planes. sounds like a bad servo. Unfortunately those umx servos are as delicate as a heroin addict coming off drugs

The power was kind of lacking compared to the 70mm Viper. I thought you were on the verge of a stall half a dozen times on that first flight.
