Do I need to change the receiver in my turbo timber 1.5 bnf if I fit a smart esc.

Which CA and Kicker was used exactly for the slat installation? All I have is the Foam 2 Foam Safe Glue and not sure if that would hold up or will it...

I see why you picked the turbo timber , easy access to the esc . lol Nice video .

Do you toggle the switch to changes between SAFE and FAIL SAFE, ih the Manual?

No Safe in this one! We used a AR620 instead of the AR636 that the BNF uses

SpektrumRC I have that AR620 in a ton of my planes. I need to see if mine need updating or not.

@@GBLynden Likely yes. None at this point have come with this update already installed. Hope that helps!

Followed this upgrade with Avian 60 amp esc and Ar637T. My elevator and Rudder servo jitters and smoke puffs. Got two fried servos
@SpektrumRCvideos2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you might have wired something up wrong. The lights can be easy to mess up polarity wise and when plugged in wrong will send some feedback to the servos.

When you plugged the ESC to the motor how do you know if it is turning in the right rotation. I want to put the AR 620 in the model will this work and will I still have safe and the AS3X and all the other bells and whistle that I have now.?
@MikeSarni3 жыл бұрын
If u plugged esc in and prop is spinning backward just switch any 2 esc wires (only 2 out of the 3 motor wires need to be switched to change motor direction).... And u are good to go

This stuff is awesome, but i wish the ESC could read the data all on its own w/o needing smart battery's. I am sure i will end up with some one day but for now im pretty set in my lipos. so many different planes takes different size packs. Im guessing with just the smart esc and a dumb lipo it would still give the rpm,and amps.
@wholenineyards76634 жыл бұрын
With a non smart battery you will still get overall pack voltage reading.

Has a video been made on how to set up all the the info that you get with the Smart tech info, telling us what is info is useful and what to leave out , which switch to set to turn it all on or off. can AS3x ans SAFE be set on the ar 600 and how to do it and how to switch it on and off.

Forgot to mention that Smart ESC needs a telemetry ready receiver in order to feed the information to the transmitter. For example the AR636 does not support telemetry.

Will I be able to get all the Smart tech on my DX6 3Gen when I fit a smart esc on my Apprentice?
@SpektrumRCvideos4 жыл бұрын
You will need a Smart compatible receiver.

I use the same on my IX12, but are you binding it in Safe or Fail Safe, I can`t see you bind it at all, so what is the right? From Norway

Which receiver is used in this setup? Is there another way to use the AR363 in the BNF version to transmitt battery voltage to the transmitter?( I'm flying with a DX6e from 2019) Great video!

We used an AR620. The AR636 is NOT Smart compatible :(

Great question! Unfortunately no, this new tech requires our Gen2 and iX hardware. Thanks!

Does the Turbo Timber lose its AS3X and SAFE with these mods?
@SpektrumRCvideos3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Depends on the receiver you use. If you install an AS3X/SAFE receiver it can be setup for it

From a old man in Norway. You changes the receiver too, must I bind the new one in safe and fail safe again?
@SpektrumRCvideos4 жыл бұрын
The rx we used in this video is not SAFE, but yes you will have to bind and set failsafe on new receivers :)

Hey guys. I just maidened mine and it was Very nose heavy. I’m running your typical 3s2200 and it has to go all the way back to get level. What has been your experience with battery placement and is the 60 mm CG correct? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thx Rick
@SpektrumRCvideos4 жыл бұрын
we have it pushed fairly far back, but honestly the Turbo Timber fly's so well we are not too concerned with it ;) Have you flown it or are you just balancing on a stand?
@janrc4 жыл бұрын
I fly my Turbo Timber with 4S 3200mAh and move the battery in the space near the landing gear. It balances very well this way and I can fly about 10 minutes.

SpektrumRC hi guys, thank you for you reply. So i figured out what was going on. Two things. One the servo arm was not placed in the center of the servo. In the neutral position it was not 90 degrees to the servo, and second, the mix for the flap was messing me up. I followed the instructions and according to the manual, while the flaps are completely up and part of the wing they have a mix about 16%. This made it nose down. I removed the mix and fixed the arm, and now it flies great!. I placed the 3s 2200 about 1/4” from the front and only had to put three clicks down in the trim on the elevator to make it fly straight.

So this works on your DX8. Will it work on my DX6 ? another video showed a touch screen radio using this - I take it a touch screen is not required since your DX8 works ? I have a Flex Innovations qq 300 with the Aura system - I wonder if this smart ESC will work with it ?
@janrc4 жыл бұрын
If the DX6 is of Generation 3 it will work for sure.

I was thinking the same thing but still today everyone sets the LVC to low. I don't ever fly mine lower then 25% but 20% is safe anything more is damaging to your packs.
