The lock washer should be next to the nut. The purpose of a lock washer is to keep the nut from turning, you defeat its purpose by putting it on the head of the bolt.

Thanks for stopping by. We put a lock washer on top with top of bolt, then underneath put a large washer against the wood then lock washer against the nut. So far has held up well for us.

Just curious - Why didn't you butt the rails together so you'd only need a total of four endcaps?

Good question, thought at the time was to evenly space each one to cover the entire length of the trailer. In hindsight probably would’ve considered putting them touching from the back of the trailer forward.

I have been looking at this system for my 18 footer trailer. What does the track look like after it has been exposed to the weather for a few years. I live in Canada and we use salt on the roads.

We were concerned about the same thing. So far no issue at all, it’s only been just over a year but have held up like the day we installed them so far. I don’t know if it matters what brand you put on or not but we used Erickson for these E Tracks and when we did an E Chock system about 5-6 years ago. The E Chock system has also still held up great (person who has it now we are with a lot).

I’m buying my first toy/UTV to take the grandkids for rides out at the cabin and have been lots of videos on UTV’s and trailers. You should checkout a brand of strap called “Speedstrap” I’m going to with the E Track like you and speedstraps. I like how they cover the tire

Off subject, can you send me a detail picture of your spare tire mount and did your trailer come with it? Also, I’ve bought the 1 foot section because I did not see any point in the waste of steel. I am thinking about taking them back and doing the whole trailer because I love your idea of strapping down extra gear and you can possibly cable lock your stuff.

We have the spare tire mount that came on the PJ Trailer. For us the longer e track pieces opened up a lot more options as you mentioned. So far the biggest issues for us have been did we get a long enough trailer and can we put a large toolbox on the front of it? Otherwise has been great!

Thanks for video! Just bought a tipping flatbed trailer. The trailer loads Quads side by side and is split down middle so each side tips independently. We are definitely putting E-Track down. Question: was there any reason that you went with the 2 inch straps over the tire basket straps?

We had the two inch straps on our last set up and loved em. They are pretty versatile for strapping other things down as well (generator, cooler, etc)

We were given a list by either the dealer or manufacturer (can't remember which one) of hardware that would work for our type of trailer. We were told that many trailers could be different so we didn't save the list, sorry other than what we have in the video I don't remember off hand what hardware we used.

Most of the e track holes use a 1/4” x 2” through bolts and or lag screws but I used 2 1/2”

So did you really put bolts in every hole on the tracks please tell me you didn't LOL getting ready to pick up a new 7x14 trailer and I don't want to drill 100 holes............................. GREAT VIDEO!

Lol, heck no maybe every third hole or so on the track. It did end up being well over 100 holes though for the 16ft trailer. From start to finish only took us a couple of hours, was pretty easy overall.

Self Tapers into the metal that the deck boards are screwed to work well, then normal wood screws to the rest of of it. Works well., maybe 4 bolts and taps in the 4 corners if your really concerned.

I haul mostly lumber and a zero turn mower once in a blue moon. Thinking about this system. Would it be secure enough if I didn’t drill through the frame. Just bolted it to the wood?

Once the tools were out didn’t take to much longer to do some extra, we loved our last wheel chock system but this is even better.

You wasted your time and money with the fasteners. You SHOULD have drilled through the metal cross bars in the trailer and used your bolt system. Bolting them to the boards isn't strong enough. When they built the trailer, the boards are just laying on top.

We made sure to put some through the cross bars as well. Many are through the wood but some through the metal as well, overall seems very strong from what I can tell. Thanks for stopping by
