Great tunnel video. Wow, 29 locks! Looks like you weren't allowed to pull off into one of those side ponds to moor up and take a break. But still ... just 2-3 hours ... good work! And then you shared the history and information about those side ponds and the construction of this flight of locks and everything else and it's really fascinating. The two of you are terrific. 🙂

The side ponds are actually quite shallow

It's more than just the lock full of water when you go down with a buddy(no pun intended), you also have the displacement of the two boats. Combined displacement of two fully loaded boats probably in excess of 35 tons! Well done guys, & all looks simply beautiful, how lucky are you!

A dry suit is worn with all your clothes on for the time of year and stay dry inside because of the seal around the neck and wrists, a wetsuit is worn with just swimwear underneath, water is trapped between you and the suit and that's what keeps you warm

Thanks for the great views of the K&A, which I have just caught up with. I used to do a lot of canoeing in the 60's and 70's and I did the 1968 Devizes to Westminster canoe race (125 miles over four days) as a junior K2 double, finishing opposite the Houses of Parliament The canal was not open for navigation by bigger boats then so we could go through the Bruce Tunnel with ease but just after Devizes there was a section of more than a mile with no water at all and we had to carry the canoe - it was a long haul. Last winter I cruised the Reading to Newbury section on my boat Sloe Roamin and saw all the training runs and the actual race from the comfort of the side hatch. I'm heading to the Kennet and Avon now for Christmas and hope to go at least as far as Devizes this time.
@welldeckdiaries56105 жыл бұрын
the name of your boat rings a bell, fantastic that you actually took part in the canoe race. Ive looked at old pics from when the canal was in disrepair and its incredibly the amount of work that went in to restore it

Plus I heard you say in a different video that someone complained about you talking with your hands Don't listen to the naysayers. I love people that talk with their hands. They are far more entertaining. The more the better. Bless you guys.

Still marathoning your videos. I have a question. What the satellite dish on your roof for? You never seem to use it.
@welldeckdiaries56104 жыл бұрын
TV, but it has never worked since we bought the boat, we vary rarely have the TV on and can normally get a signal with either the omnidirectional arial on the roof or stream though the internet
@bettysmush45733 жыл бұрын
On the other channels I seen where when they were sleeping they had problems with people outside the boat, or even dancing on the boat or unmooring boats. I think that one guys chains and locks for mooring was a good idea. I would set up cheap LED lights for any open windows that you can fool them into thinking your awake and maybe even one for the stern. Or like I have here a battery operated motion detector from Harbor freight if you have those over there I got the sensor and separate receiver that beeps low or high within 60 feet of each other for 20$. It's invaluable to me. What do you think of the two latter ideas? I want to sell everything and move onto a narrow boat but need enough hours of a job near the canal to pay for a boat and expenses if you can help me with any ideas. I want you to have a lot of viewers, just not like me that want to move onto the cut permanently! Lol.
@welldeckdiaries56103 жыл бұрын
A lot of people have different deterrents and security devices. Watch as many different narrowboat channel to get a good idea of earning an income to pay for boat expenses. I hope your dreams come true
