This was such an iconic time! Thank you so much for sharing this. This was PEAK E3! Sidebar: People talk about video quality of the consoles of this era. This is the best way to see them... off screen on high quality CRTs because it's what they were designed for. Lots of these games ran at 60fps (more than some would expect) and were crystal clear on screen!

I was there, didn't get into the press conferences, but I was blown away by the Nintendo booth, and was surprised to go online & see everyone saying Nintendo really bombed E3 that year. I guess they didn't have tons of megaton new announcements & admitted GameCube wasn't in the market position they wanted it to be in; but despite that their show floor & the playable games gave the exact opposite impression, so many great GC & GBA games to look forward to coming out of that experience.

Greed kills creativity.
@Gravitatis3 ай бұрын
thats not true if a person is already capable of being a genius artist, then their personal character has absolutely no bearing on their works at all
@SevenlivesDesigns3 ай бұрын
@Gravitatis I'd totally disagree. Look at Hollywood and the gaming industry at large. The more companies desire to make even more money, they become more afraid to even take risks. Greed has stiffled creativity. A worker is worthy of his wages, but when the main goal is greed, creativity takes a backseat. I'm speaking as a professional artist. I would never make an argument for greed. Not trying to convince ya, but the evidence is clear in industry as well as individuals. We can agree to disagree.
@Gravitatis3 ай бұрын
@@SevenlivesDesigns when an artist creates a great work, its the result of a form of _knowledge_ this knowledge is immediate and intuitive, and it would remain even if the artist were a terrible person this explains why some of the greatest artists also had irritable personalities, and why many of them are also considered eccentric or immoral
@cackoocacho16293 ай бұрын
@@Gravitatis Uh.......... there is a near limitless mountain of evidence, of creativity being stifled in the name of profits. Or, in other words, greed, as SevenlivesDesigns implied. What are you babbling about? Have you followed this industry outside of the last 5 years? Or has all you known, been the garbage empire that is today's gaming industry?
@Gravitatis3 ай бұрын
@@cackoocacho1629 a genius artist would remain a genius artist even if he were also greedy this is because the personal character of an artist has no affect on the quality of their works, since works of art are the results of _knowledge_

@doompastrydawnofanewb3 ай бұрын
People make great games without needing or trying to appease investors all the time, especially in the fantastic indie scene gaming has right now. Companies that made the video games we loved back in those days, not as much.... And as open as the technology is today, plenty of snakes come in to try and churn out a quick buck and it adulterates the perception. I fully appreciate the era and the sentiments from it, but don't get too lost in the nostalgia, my peoples.
