It's a very energy efficient little device, it would be perfect for a Van setup! 🤩 My only advice, if you end up using an external mechanical hard drive, make sure to keep it isolated from everything else. Use something capable of absorbing vibrations that could end up reducing its longevity! Please, let us know how it's going! 😁👊

The PSTV power barrel is the same one used for the PSP, so there are definitely merits for those who own Sony products.

Yes, a PSP charger should work, but I highly recommend to always check the specs written on the charger itself before using it. 😁👊 I noticed that some has slightly different specs, a lower output, could give some stability issues in the long run. 🥹

Thanks for the thorough explaination. I am a gamer curious to play and try out some Vita games and get Vita trophies. So I will probably pick one up as I don't like playing games on a little hand held screen. I didn't notice you mention region locking. That is the only question I had left after your video. Is the console region locked and are the vita carts region locked. Google says that region locks were not added to any game - so it is basically a region free system. I hope that is right.

I really want to get me one of these that is modded to go with my modded vita as well as my regular Vita.. It’s just a Console that was so ahead of its time as far as being a companion device between everything Sony had out at the time!

@@UpgradedReality yeah Sony should’ve really opened it up and let it do all the things you would think it could by default?! Limiting the capabilities of games it could play in an attempt to not cannibalize the cells of two of Sony’s others systems, I think might’ve been the wrong call?

In my honest opinion, giving PlayStation TV the ability to play the complete library of Vita, PSP and PS1, wouldn’t have caused any damage to the other systems of that generation. The much more powerful PS4 has an almost completely different library, there are just some remastered versions of older games and a few modern titles available on both, I don’t think something like this would ruin sales of the entire console. On the other hand, PlayStation Vita, being a “portable only” system, I can see it sell without any repercussions, even if it had shared the same exact library with PlayStation TV, they offer a completely different gaming experience. If, instead, we take a moment to imagine an hypothetical PlayStation TV created as a PlayStation Vita accessory, like some sort of “Smart Dock” giving an HDMI output to the Vita and also capable of streaming content from PS4, honestly, I do not see it as a “threat” to sales, just a better integration to Sony’s lineup at the time. Sorry for the long reply, I hope I explained myself in an understandable way! 😁👊

@@UpgradedReality Yeah, it’s strange how almost close to the switch it is?!?! It’s like they were trying to make extra money instead of making a dock, they were trying to make extra money by making this whole new consul “the PlayStation TV“ when all they really needed is to do like you said and make a dock where you literally dock your video and it interfaces with the TV and all that shit that way, they would’ve had to waste money building extra hardware so to speak, all they would’ve had to do was build a device that charges the veto and video outs The thing to an HDTV etc... It kind of makes me think why the hell they made the PlayStation TV and not just this??

Very close and very distant at the same time if you know what I mean! 😭😆 Yes, I can totally see it being a strategy to make more money, like using the proprietary memory card instead of a micro SD. I think that hardware wise they invested more than we can possibly imagine, just think at how ahead of its time it was, to engineer and produce a device like that must have been really pricy. 🤑😵‍💫 It’s totally reasonable for them to try in every way possible to get their investment back and start making money but, at the same time, I really wish they took a different route with this beautiful device, the “smart dock” idea makes so much more sense! 🫣🥹 Thank you for your reply, it’s always nice to have a little chat here on KZbin! 😁👊

You can use the SD2Vita adapter if you already have one, yes. 😁 If not, you could simply use an external hard drive connected via USB. 👊
