Superb - you use some straightforward techniques to measure and line up components that might otherwise seem daunting - thanks so much

Mike I love your ways of doing things, the yak looks better than it was when built by factory which I found a lot of my ARFs formers come loose if you just put some pressure on them. I usually add some glue to them when I assemble them. My Great planes Yak 38 % needed 2 lbs in front and I put the rudder servo in the Fuse not the back. Might even move the elevator servos to the fuse also to reduce the weight in front, can you believe that.

It's hard to believe that some manufacturers still design with intentions of using weights to achieve CG. I do not believe in the need for added weight. If I can't achieve CG by properly positioning the mandatory components for flight, I have failed the design and its time to start over.

Appreciate your skill, knowledge and willingness to share. Will you be moving the info from Facebook to your website for those not on Facebook?
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is the plan. I am working on the website now but I'm having to learn that as I go. Ive never built a web page.. I have the basic skeleton started. I'm sorry but that is a slow process for me. There are categories for plane builds, tool builds, resources and a contact directory. It will be perfect for the guys who are less than enchanted with Facebook.

Mike, First comment. Very nice, It is 7 degrees F in Minnesota so I'm not flying until it warms up to about 30 degrees F.

Dang. We shut the hole state down at 7 degrees.

What powerbox do you have on this plane?
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
It's the Booma RC /Advanced Radio Smartbus Extreme. I use Booma and Powerbox Systems. I prefer Booma because it has Multi point matching and it's easier to set up. They have a great set of videos to demonstrate use and set up. There is a new version of this unit out now that is smaller and uses an internal optical kill. I Have two in other planes and love them.. So, no fiber optic wire/cord to deal with. I get them from Redwing RC. I get Powerbox stuff from Pilot RC. Don't use the cheap Chinese units, I've lost two planes to them. This being one of them. The LCD screen vibrates loose and shorts the entire unit out. This plane was in a high hover when that occurred. It came straight down from about 60 feet. EF makes incredible planes.

@@mikencrcf6018 You're right :) I'm using the chinese one with integrated kill switch. I didn't see any other powerboxes with this feature, so looks like yours is very interesting for me. I read the manual and some promotional videos, but it would be interesting to see how it acts in real life installed on plane.

@@aleskssks6996 if you continue to use it, put a dab of silicone goo in each corner of the screen to keep it from dropping down. Personally, I'd swap it out. The remote kill is not dependable. I still used a Smartfly fiber optic with that box. One day, it just would not cut off. I checked on line and found they ate prone to that. You would love the Booma/Advanced radio version. Absolutely no glitches, smaller, and the programming for multipoint matching is very simple. I didn't know how much a difference the multipoint makes until I used it. OMG. All servos have variations right out of the box. You can of course set the center and end points easily. However, if you extend a dowl rod or carbon rod out the back of the elevator to check the match near the mid-range, you will be shocked at the variations. It makes precision flight much easier. Many of the bobbles or uphill tracking errors that you attribute to wind go away.

Hi Mike At 23:45 why not sandwich the blind nut between another thin plywood and just drill the hole on the backside so that the screws can protrude? No ways they will come out!

That's a great idea! Anything to lock those little engine killers in sounds good to me.
