Just wanted to add that there is a key on the pulley side retaining the two rocker arm shafts that needs to be removed. I didn’t and ended up bending it when trying to force the shafts out first.

Yep, ended up breaking my head because of it. Watched many totorials and every single one skipped this part. 🤦

That was scary to watch, I was waiting for a spring to pop.

Before removing the valve springs place a socket slightly smaller than the spring retainer and give it a whack with a hammer. That will help break any sludge or varnish "gluing" the retainer to the valve keepers and making the process slightly easier. Additionally, multiple designs of valve spring compressors hook under the camshaft and use it as a lever point.

Digging your house bro. Gotta be a batchelor pad cuz I know my wife would give me shit for having an engine in the house on a stand. I've built all mine (at home) on the breezeway. It is attached to the garage so my best option when it's cold out and the salamander is out of kero or not cutting it. Nice looking place though. Gotta love the m20 platform. Such a simplistic and strong engine. I love the m30 cars even more, especially the e28's. Ugh I miss mine just reminiscing about it. Great video for someone to get familiar with these engines. I did my first one about 23 years ago and never looked back. Good tutorial dude!

Preston BOYD I’m still waiting on my machinist.. he’s taking his sweet sweet time but there’s not much of a bmw scene here in Texas (at least near me) and he has worked on the m20 before so I feel like I’ve just gotta wait it out. I dropped off the block, head, and m52 crank to him a couple of months ago, ordered some forged pistons, and now I’m just waiting for him to finish up... still. As soon as he finishes it’s full steam ahead
@Doctorbubba0105 жыл бұрын
@@GordosGarage what kind of pistons? that must be tough having to put all the parts away and then try to remember where they all disappeared too.

Please anyone help me out when taking out the pins I know he went from 6 cylinder all the way to the front so my problem is that my cylinder 1 valves have low compression I was wondering if I should the the same but just move the front just enough to replace the cylinder head valves is that possible

Just bought another 86 325es hoping to put 325i head on. Does it go straight on?
@psavel2744 жыл бұрын
Yes, the "I" cylinder head is a direct bolt on with the 'Super ETA' setup. Great way to gain some power. Make sure you use the intake manifold and throttle body that came with the B25 motor as well, as the runners and throttle plate are both larger.
