Loved this series, did you finish the build?

Your videos have come out at the right time. I may be doing this for my '84 325e soon. Did the machinist lap the valves, or did yo do that off camera? A dab of grease on the keeper helps it stick to the valve stem before you release the spring compressor.

Steven Bauer he told me he did everything, I guess we’ll find out 😂 I’ll be pulling this head back off as soon as I receive the 2.9 block and I have a spare head as well so no big deal if I have to dive back into it. Not like I’ll ever be “finished” with the car anyway, perpetual tinkering 😁

@@GordosGarage Not.... Each lapped valve becomes a match for each individual seat as the last step in a three angle valve job.

I am not sure, but I think you have you rocker shaft seals backwards.

Did you even lap the valves in?

9 months for that head? Your machinist had to go to training first? Brooks Elliot cylinder heads all the way FTW.

@@GordosGarage I don't know what the deal is with machine shops but its not uncommon for this to happen. 😕

Thinking about pulling my head off on my 320i soon. I think the stem seals have gone as it munches oil off throttle and misfires on start up if left for a week or two (oil getting into a cylinder I think). Did you replace the valve guide seals as well? Great video!

Harrison Wade thanks!! The valve guide seals were replaced but the valve guides themselves were in spec according to the machinist
