e36 Sunroof DIY part 2

@toxomanrod Ok so look on the drivers side rail, around mid-way. You will see there is a notch cut out there. That is where you put that "other piece". You will have to manually crank the motor to move the cable. You will see a little foot on the end of the bowden cable that moves up and down the rail as you crank it. Keep cranking until that foot is at the notch area. Then you can put that "other piece" in place and attach it to the cable. Its been a while, but I believe thats how it goes on

@geetarspaz Dirt would prevent it from moving smoothly. If it does not tilt, it means your sliders are broken. You will have to take them out and put in new ones. This can be done from the top of the car without removing the whole tray like I did. I just found it easier/more fun to take the whole thing out and do every inch of it right. See the bimmerforums for some good write ups.

@toxomanrod Then you can hand crank the sunroof so that the two pieces (now connected together and to the cable) moves back to the front of the sunroof (closed position). The passenger side does not have a tab, the passenger side rail is dragged along for the ride because the metal panel is rigid and connects the two sides to move in unison.

I dont understand your question. This bolts onto the roof of the car from the inside. If you take the headliner off the car you can remove the sunroof - what you see in this video.

Hi Cabdolla How do I centre the sunroof cables, and re-align the motor with the cables, my sunroof the motor was removed. Thanks

Good job! I have a renault clio (for my sins!!). Would the sunroof be similar? I've been wanting to fix it for years :/ I can hear the motor running - but nothing moves. I presume those little plastic runners are shot. Cheers from Joburg, South Africa.

Hello, I have been following your tutorial because every slider was broken on my sunroof. I have done everything as you have in the video and everything is going well besides one thing, which happens to be the only part you didn't have in the video. I have absolutely no idea how to put in the "other piece" 10:50 . It doesn't seem to slide into the rails. I've been stuck on the problem for days now. Also, the passenger side bowden cable does not have a tab, so how does it move?

Hello, excuse me you eranger! Maybe you can help me? I have a bmw e36 from 1994! I have the sunroof that don't work, so I disassembled the sunroof, and there are fixing broken legs! I you just know, if you be not whether the small room as achettais sa, bmw, or other! If there is not a special site! I do not know, or needs to be changed remove the sunroof!
