This video is a godsend. I've been dealing with this specific injury for about 3 years and never recovered fully. I've started following the instructions since yesterday when I watched it and I'm already noticing improvements. Especially the thing about relying on visual was eye opening, and something I've been doing since I got injured without realising it

This is incredibly important. I had an ACL revision 2 years ago and the first ACL tear about 14 years ago. I often feel like I'm missing some neural connections, my brain doesn't react fast enough. Slow movement, even heavy weights are not a problem, I just can't jump on the oprated leg as fast as on the other one - my quads don't fire fast enough. I will incorporate your advice to my training now. Thank you!

This video was awesome! Would this workthe same for patellar tendinopathy?

Thanks for sharing this. We NEED physicians and PT researchers to start investigating how to restore or maintain proprioception. Using neurotrophins on grafts may be one avenue - for example neurotrophins are used in spinal surgery to restore neurons there. We must solve this!

Thank you, great work and articulation, everything was well presented! 9:55 Certainly a favourite :D 13:24 - would you say this applies to more than just ACL rehab, like rehab in general, or maybe even lingering pains, as they can deteriorate neural connections towards/from the brain and need to be treated as part of a full rehabilitation process? (e.g. brain not wanting to send signals to contract quad muscles after patellar tendonitis as its expecting a pain response) (on a side note, 10:34 "ubscribe" seems kinda missing a letter)

Yes, pain and injuries can affect areas beyond just the local tissue(s).

I have complete ACL tear with bone bruise. 5 months in and still have a lot of pain and swelling behind the knee. How long does it usually take for pain and swelling to go down? How long (average) to get back to ”normal” daily activities? It just seems like it’s taking soooo long! 😢
@Betolilito18 күн бұрын
If your unable to fully flex and extend your knee it might be because you have built up scar tissue. I would get swelling after doing any type of activity and hyperextending my knee would case sooo much pain to my patella region and the back of my knee, almost like if it was the ACL. I would advise making an appointment to get an MRI and to follow up with your Therapist/Surgeon! Turns out I had built up scar tissue around my ACL and knee and got a Knee Arthroscopy and I’m 3 weeks post op and am feeling muuuuch better and am even able to do more activities. Still taking it slow though.

And if you haven’t even gotten ACL Reconstruction I would strongly recommend to get it for the long run
@borikatrina18 күн бұрын
@@Betolilito No ACL reconstruction yet as I was trying to go the conventional way. Been kinda difficult though because the pain behind my knee won’t go away and my muscles are reacting slow to strengthening exercises.
@Betolilito18 күн бұрын
@@borikatrinaYeaaah I would definitely recommend going through the Surgery route especially if you’re trying to get back to doing Physical Activities. I know it’s possible to return without the Surgery as well, but since you’re already having pain in your knee, it might be best to check it out to avoid getting Osteoarthritis or Arthritis in general. I recommend getting it checked out with a doctor thought, I’m only telling you from my personal experience and from what I’ve learned in my college courses.

@@Betolilito my recoveries take longer than usual because I have OA from femur fracture and ACL rupture at 13 🥴. I got surgery for femur but surgeon didn’t to ACL reconstruction. I went my whole life not knowning I was missing my ACL. My knee was stable and I played softball and volleyball. Story is different now because of OA. I’ll see how things are going at month 6 and decide. I’m open to whatever allows me to have a normal life again. S*cks having to start all over again with recovery.

Do the training tips also apply to people without injuries? (Like not looking at the mirror while doing lunges)

Somewhat depends on the context and your goals, but yes to some extent. There's a whole field of research dedicated to motor learning that is applicable to training and sports.

Do an easier variation like sitting in a chair instead of a bed or floor to get used to it for a couple of days and do it through out the day don't push it too much
